Great upload. My ancestor that fell at the Alamo was John Garvin. He fell at the West wall , manning a 6 pound cannon. He came from South Carolina.
I’m from the Bonham family, they actually have deep routes in South Carolina too.
Texas is so full of historical sites; my family not far from Bonham.
I really wish that the caretakes of the old cemeteries would scrub those old markers so we could see the art, its a craft completely gone
Good to see you covered that area. My niece lives just outside of Paris, just outside of Blossom. Beautiful area. Thanks for sharing.
I had the misfortune of growing up in Bonham as soon as I graduated I left that miserable place and never looked back!
My daddy bought a farm there in 1955. We lived there until 1958, my parents sold the place and moved due to the CLANNISHNESS of the place. If you were not a fourth or fifth generation resident, you would never "belong". My maternal Grandfather had some relatives there for awhile, they are all gone. They have some excellent farmland up there, but it always looks run down.
Kinda funny how the 'cabins' of old resemble the layout of 'tiny homes' today!
another great video. keep em coming.
Just added Bonham to my “must visit” list. What wonderful museums!
Great museums
Another beautiful old town and great viewing. Thanks for stopping long enough to be able to read the signs by pausing to understand what we are seeing rather than just rushing thru.
So I'm wondering if we are related ....?
@@bertmullins3078 Hard to know. My grandfathers family all came from Byrdstown, Tn nearly on the state line separating Tenn and Ky. Roughly 20 or so mile south of Ft Campbell, Ky. I visited there once when my parents were alive in 1991.There were a lot of folks with the Mullins name that lived there.
@@phillipmullins1643 My wife and I both do genealogy research. There was a branch of the Mullins that moved into Tennessee, probably in the late 1700's. My branch moved south through the Carolinas, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and into Texas. Though the two branches were separated there are a lot of given names repeated many times.
Awesome history, Thank You !
It's pretty cool that you have a personal connection to the place. It's a beautiful town with beautiful buildings.
How is it you get to do all the traveling ? I say You are truly blessed .
I had a friend in prison in that town only connection I have to that place but one day maybe I'll go see for my self

America has some beautiful places and this is definitely one of them
I’m an ingliish live in Wichita Falls
Interesting and the fort will be worth going to see! Thank you 😊
The Sam Rayburn Library is absolutely fascinating. Some of the most interesting artifacts. Thanks for another great installment.
The tombstone with the wagon picture looked really cool maybe pulled by a team of mules I would love to know the story
man you know an inglish too? There aren’t a lot of us. Where are you located in Texas?
near Houston
That was beautiful. Nicely done.
My great great great grandma (Hulda Elizabeth Hawkins Keene )lived in Bonham, near Garnett’s Bluff. Her daughter (Lizzie Keene) went to school with Sam Rayburn. ❤
Awesome video
It’s named after Lt James Butler Bonham. He was 28 during the battle of the Alamo and was manning an cannon at the Chapel. Many people claimed he was shot in the chest before he stabbed them with a knife and he was then stabbed and fell off the chapel. He was born in North Carolina
I live here and I can tell you right now for those who want to visit it is a pretty good town and maybe if you ever visit you might want to live here
Bonham is a great place to live and work. I work at the VA. Bonham is great for people who want to serve their community and be left alone.
Your channel showed up in my feed with this video. I'm glad it did. I'm a lifelong Texan, and I geek out on stuff like this. 👍😁
And I did subscribe and click the bell.
Another awesome video-oh my the history you show is beyond words! Love the headstone with the wagon-it’s all so amazing.
My mom had her wedding photos in that funeral home lol and I stayed at four winds when it was still Granny Lou's
I Live here 😂 I was curious if there was RUclips videos in Bonham
My grandfather's middle name was Bonham. Because his family once lived near Bonham, Texas before moving to Oklahoma at the time that Indian Territory was opened up for white settlement.
Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed it. Mr. Sam was quite the political figure during his day!!
My Great Granddaddy has his grave BONHAM TX
You know you're getting old when cars that were around when you were born are now in museums.
Spent alot of summers as kid visiting family in Bonham.
Thanks for the nice tour! I love any kind of historical experience ♥
Nothing worse than the phrase "one of the"... it's means there's someone better
i took a pic of that funeral home too, for the same reason.
as always, super upload👍
Love it, love it. Thank you for the tour.
I live in Bonham but have only been here 4 years. This is one of the best rural counties in all of Texas! The people are awesome. As someone who has moved a lot, I can really appreciate how amazing it is that Fannin County has a very high amount of multigenerational family residents. I’ve met so many people who have lived here their whole lives and so have several generations of their family. That’s rare these days. I think it goes to show what a great place this is! I’ve also been surprised to learn all the history in this area!
I have a photo of my Great-great grandmother who was born in Fannin Co. I see the Native American in her, for she is staring at that camera so much harder than Great-great Grampa.
I had read in a book called The Plow-Horse Cavalry: 34th Texas Cavalry CSA. ln that book t mentioned a settlement called Shawneetown. And l say this because one her parents was born in Ohio.
I have tried to locate the settlement on maps, but so far no luck.
I worked on a house installing HVAC outside of a place called Frognot in Southwest Fannin Co. This was in '85 or '86. I laughed my butt off seeing that water tower!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO OF MY HOMETOWN
Wonderful video.
Hey wait...
👍😎🇨🇦
What camera do you use to film the videos?
for most shots i use a gopro
@@secretsoftexas6872 l noticed you printed Spring on the thumbnail.
I grew up just west of Kuykendahl, and in between Louetta and Spring-Cypress going to Klein in the '70s.
That area is not country anymore, but you can't stop progress.
