This song is the sound of my childhood, and the cinematography of this specific lyric video was definitely the root of my fascination for liminal spaces. Will always treasure this
You should’ve seen him perform this live in a venue with about 50 people there. Dallas, tx prophet bar. Anya marina as the opener. Took two people to the show, blind to the music; they’re both laswell fans now.
I have had a really rough few years dealing with depression and being betrayed by people I trusted and eventually had to cut out of my life. Every negative thing I went through caused me to become a reclusive and sad person. I'm a shell of what I once was and have lost sight of myself and whatever dreams I had envisioned for myself... this song seems completely applicable to my situation and maybe that's why I keep listening to it on repeat.
This song speaks to those people who are stuck in their lives and all of your friends who have moved on are tired of waiting on you to move forward. This is your last chance and we're done. So it's a motivational break up song.
Greg Laswells voice breaks my heart in the most beautiful way possible. He could sing about a moldy wall and it would still make my heart feel like its on fire and my head in the clouds.
I downloaded this a year ago when it was free and just rediscovered it yesterday. Lyrically, musically, vocally, this song is incredible. It's modern and refreshing.
Amazing vocal performance by each of them. I don’t really know SB’s music other than that huge song she had, but her vocals here have a beautiful, yet eerie quality. Great song by laswell.
Hi! "All of your wallowing is unbecoming" is a great line--it can mean that the person's crying or complaining is not suitable or appropriate behavior; it is not helping the situation and the person needs to mature. That is one way to look at it. Hope that helps!
Laswell is one of the most solid performers alive. It's good to see that talented musicians still exist and he's not afraid to test the waters and sing with woman that sing like angels.
I just want to mention how great this video's cinematography is though. Like, the majority of the shots are pretty ordinary every day scenes, but the stop motion feel, with the interesting cuts makes the whole thing just feel so much deeper and more alive
What a beautiful voice that Sara Bareilles has. It is opera-quality and it shows in this song, which is one of the favorite ones in my collection! Congratulations on a great tune, Greg!
When I heard this song live, bringing two newbies to the tea room in Dallas, deep ellum. When this song played, the energy filled the room. One of my friends who is a multi instrumentalist, instantly felt the vibe. But, when they hit that “here” we both looked at each other with our jaws dropped. I bought all the merch they had. I burned a cd for him. (Yeah, I know) but by the time I presented the cd, he had already bought it online, (he’s more tech savvy than me) and learned the song on keys by ear. One of the most memorable concert experiences I’ve had. The live performance of that song was incredible, the studio version doesn’t give it justice when you hear it live. And I’ve seen some legends. I saw postal service on the same stage they played on, yet that one moment captivated me more than anything.
This song is incredible. Thank you so much. I'm not really familiar with Sara's work aside from one song, but her voice is amazing in this; she and Greg are fantastic together.
I love this and I was thinking about making a video to this song. Funny thing is you captured this lyric video how I imagined I would capture this song on film. Mostly all stop motion. Love the font and everything! :)
This song is amazing! I can't believe I'm just now discovering Greg Laswell! I've been a huge fan of Sara Bareilles, however. Their voices compliment each other! Again, they are awesome. :D
Greg, this song has become my most welcome ear-worm of 2012! Can.Not.WAIT to see your show at 3rd & Lindsley in May! Wishing you much, MUCH success with the new album! Just don't get so big that you can no longer play the cool, smaller venues like 3rd, aiiight? :)
This song saved helped save my life. Addiction blows
ME TOO
This song came at the perfect time in my life and gave me the push to quit my job that I hated. Now I run my own business. Still listening in 2018.

Greg Laswells voice breaks my heart in the most beautiful way possible. He could sing about a moldy wall and it would still make my heart feel like its on fire and my head in the clouds.
