I remember a French animated TV series called Once upon a Time - Man, where a cut down piece of this recital was used as the opening theme to illustrate the progression of man through the ages, this piece still captivates me today from start to finish, Absolutely Fantastic 😊

This LP was the one that really initiated my curiosity for classical music when I was a little kid. 💜

You have a REAL treasure worth at least hundreds of dollars there, but of course absolute pricelessness in terms of historical and musical value as I'll explain. I hope you seriously consider posting the Passacaglia, BWV 582 (as the record correctly titles it (not "Passacaglia & Fugue" as the vast majority mistakenly call it, contrary to the authoritative Schmieder catalog)) because this excellent Chorzempa performance on one of the fine organs of Europe, even the world, is quite unique among the recordings of Bach's Passacaglia, BWV 582 in that
    1. he correctly and properly treats the fugue as NOT separate from the Passacaglia as the vast majority mistakenly do and
    2. he wonderfully improvises (composes?) an highly historically appropriate and proper Baroque performance practice of a cadenza on the Neapolitan fermata instead of the dreadful, most regrettable train wreck of a full stop of the vast majority. Most will consider these two matters minor and pedantic, but if one considers them in the context of the work as a whole it significantly heightens the composition from just another hack job to enlightened performance. I only regret Chorzempa has recorded so little in view of his great and exemplary gifted talent, musicianship & scholarship. Soli Deo gloria!

      E. Power Biggs also included his own cadenzas in two of his recordings of the Passacaglia. They are the one he made at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig and the performance on the album Bach on the Pedal Harpsichord. Those cadenzas are beauties as well. But yes, Chorzempa is up there as well. His recording of the Handel organ concertos is IMHO the best available.

I also had a copy of that record that I purchased in 1973. I was wondering if you could post the other works on the album such as the Passacaglia & Fugue.

@Threemicsrecords Hey, Thanks man for another great reply, I am newish to Listening to records and Audio components and such, I just found out the model number of the Receiver I am using, it's a Technics SA-GX505. The only problem i have with it is connecting my monitors, as you know the krk r 6's I have are active monitors and have an rca input in the back but the amp only has old style speaker wire outputs on the back, and when I connected the both together I didnt get any signal out of CONT>

@seanlovesradiohead Thanks for comment. Unfortunately, you cannot use it without running software, at least I couldn't.. As for your second question, as you perhaps know Mbox 2 pro can work at 96kHz/24bit resolution, which makes records sound really well. So all you need to do is create a session with a stereo aux channel (in3/4 out 1/2) at highest resolution 96/24. It's not going to be analog but still you will benefit from less digital step and well mastered music with more dynamic range

@SAZodia No, there is no EQ used. I think it was a AudioQuest Cartridge that sounded so good. I will miss that little needle. The funny part is that this vinyl was used by some school and perhaps no one was too careful with it. I think that was best $1 spend ever lol.

@seanlovesradiohead I don't mind at all. As for now I am using old Denon DRA-345 R (only 45WPC) that has phone preamp. It sounds fine but I'd kill for it. I used to have nice Denon AVR-3600 that sounded really nice with my passive monitor audio speakers (If you want you can watch some of my video where I was using different microphone techniques but you will need good headphones to hear effect). I used to have KRK R5, these are nice speakers but not as open as I would like them to be.

@Threemicsrecords Thanks very much for your reply, yep that is pretty much the case with how I listen to my records at the moment, although sometime I switch between that method and just plugging straight into a Technics amp I have, I cant remember the model number just now but from what I have read it's a pretty sweet little amp but can create a bit off hum and overheats pretty quickly, do you mind if I ask what is your particular method when Listening to Vinyl?

hey, Great Video! I hope you dont mind me asking but I currently listen to my records from my technics 1210 running through an mbox 2 pro Phono pre amp, running in pro tools, and out to some krk rockit 6's, I was just wondering if you knew of a way without having to run the software to just play the records are wether you think listening to records this way will lose some of the warmth or clarity due to the A/D conversion?
    Cheers
    Sean

@Threemicsrecords the monitors, So I hav been connceting my monitors to my amp by using the REC OUT on the back of the amp, but obviously this bypasses any EQ or Volume control that the amp has, which can be a massive pain causing me to have to adjust the volume on the monitors instead of the amp if that makes sense? anyways hope this all makes sense and isn't too confusing. I really apreciate your reply's
    Cheers fella

@seanlovesradiohead hmmm WOW, So you've been experimenting little bit. Now, I am glad that nothing happened to your speakers or power amp (power amp output is not compatible with any RCA input whatsoever :) KRKs will work with this TCC TC-754 RIAA Phono Preamp or you can try to find good preamplifier on ebay (e.g. Denon pra1100). PS. if you are looking to improve your sound start with cartridge and then look for good preamp.

Do you use any type of EQ to record? I swear i can almost hear the keys being pressed on the organ.
Oh btw, my thorens is taking a vacation, the motor has developed a serious humm, and may need to be replaced/rebuilt, so i'll have to wait to get the grado...sigh!
