It is awesome to see Bouwe again in any TOR vid. I think Niall swallowed a syllable in “Balearic”. I spent the summer of 2014 on Menorca on an archaeological dig and it was a beautiful place. (If I’d known about the Ocean Race at the time I would have tried to get to Alicante, but unfortunately I wasn’t aware of it at all!)
5 points for 1st place and so on down to 1 point for last place in each in-port race there being 5 boats in the race. Holcim can't catch 11th Hours in-port total so in case of tie, 11th Hour wins
@@jweitzenheimer Sorry, but does not really answer my question. I try to clarify: I presume there also is a trophy for overall in-port series winner; and here there potentially could be a tie between 11 hour and Malizia. Who would take the 1st place in this competition then?
I will say that 11th Hour must be granted the time it took them to repair the boat. Time from the incident and till they left the harbour on the frinal leg.
When the consequences of redressal in terms of points awarded to 11th Hour can have a huge impact on the overall result, it is unlikely that the jury will do anything radical - at least in terms of deciding the winner. Whatever may have been the circumstances. In some ways, it is a situation similar to the final race of the F1 GP 2021. 11th Hour may feel hard done by, just like Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes did, but sometimes that is the way the cookie crumbles.
There’s no evidence that outside influence (I.e. from another boat or from race organiser mistakes) caused the rig failure. In the case of 11HRT the damage was obviously due to the mistake of GETE.
I don’t see why any other team other than 11th Hour will be involved in the hearing… No matter what, they didn’t complete the race albeit at no fault of their own…
The committee caused the issue , team Europe should not have been out sailing , its a round the world race , 1 leg they sadly didn't finish,,,broken mast ,,, The next leg they didn't start , the yacht went by ships, ggr race they had to sail round the world , this is like the Donald Crowhurst Cup, if you run a marathon you cannot miss 14 miles ,
11th hour can get their participation trophy, and maybe even join the last shore sprint, but if the compensation has any effect on the final scoring and thus positioning of the boats who actually finished the race in respectful manner, this race show becomes pure NATO propaganda. Scoring points via technicality doesn't make you a winner. It makes you the worst loser.
I guess you really don't understand the rules of sailboat racing. I suggest you look them up. Any normal reading would recommend 11th Hour be given a redress of their average score for all the legs they competed and that would be 3 points for the leg they were knocked out of Alternatively you could score 11th hour with the place they occupied at the time they were knocked out, which I believe was 2nd place in the leg.
Marvelous update on this epic race.
very well done ! good team ! i enjoyed it a lot , thanks

Rules question: How is the overall rank determined for the in port racing series in case there is a tie in points at the finish?

2 points redress for 4th place and hope for the best

Should Holcim be able to ask for redress for using a stock mast which broke?
This happened not under the influence of a different sailboat.

I cannot find how many points teams get for this last leg?
As for the other legs: 5 pt for winning, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd place.
@@matthiasteubner1923 merci. I was asking since some legs have 10 points.

You haven't been to a protest hearing have you? 😂

Wy is nobody talking about the „Manoeuvre of the last moment“?
11th hour should have been able to turn in the last moment. Old sailor rule.
They did, not 100% sure where you expected them to go
