Put the bearings in the over at 200 for 20 min. And carrier in freezer for 20. Most of the time no press needed. My wife keeps a shelf empty in the deep freezer for me.
That’s awesome !! Will this work for pressing in the new races as well ? If I heated up the axle and put bearings in freezer ?
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH absolutely do it all the time. Heating metal with Mapp gas is not essential but I recommend it
You got a keeper!
Maybe some day I will pull my axles apart and powder them now that I have a few videos to refer to. Keep up the good content broski!
I think the lowest gear ratio for the 3/4 tons available at the time was 4.10. Mine has stock 3.73, I’ll be going to 3.55 :)
Very informative video was putting off doing my axles for a long time but now I feel inspired and not as intimidated two tackle such a job. thanks for a good inspirational how to video got a glimpse of Mama hawk and baby hawk should include them in more videos as always you and the hawk family are in my good thoughts and prayers always take care and looking forward to the next video PS I hope the name I came up with for your family is okay thanks again
Thanks for watching!! & those names are fine !!! Appreciate the support. We’ve been sick since I uploaded this with covid. Haven’t been out of the bed since Tuesday evening. Hoping to feel better soon to finish this job , it’s been rough.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH oh man I'm sorry to hear that feel better soon and take it easy and rest up all your fans will still be here when you get up to finishing up the second half of the video most importantly take care of yourself and hawk family
I have been afraid to re-gear my golf cart !
Curious why you didn’t just sell the whole axle set and just get a set with 3:55’s already 🤷🏻♂️ to me it’s like trying to fatten a super model 🤷🏻♂️😆
U still customizing tail lights for f250's??. I wouldn't mind getting a set for my truck. My truck is the same color like your truck as well..

You mind pointing me in the direction where you list all parts for rebuilding front axle ?
You can look up my video “watch this before Powdercoating your axles” should help you.
Could you give me exact year and model of truck, is that "PMF" logo suspension a whole lift kit ??? looks real pro brotha
Yessir you can reach out to www.pmfsuspension.com to get their contact info. Call and get full kit quote emailed to you of whatever you need any lift size pretty much from 1”-20”+ great company. Mine is a 2006 F250.
Who is running front lockers? I am looking at the USA Spartan Locker. Keep standard gear replace ujoints.
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Awesome video, where are y’all from?
Kentucky
What you doing with the 488s
Selling
Why would you go back to stock gear ratio? Your tires are not stock diameter.
I only have 35” tires for shows. And my stock wheels I will use for highway traveling long distance is 33’s (stock tire size for my truck) so 3.73 is what I need. Just stock.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH ARGH!!! I would've swapped you for my 3.73's in my sterling 10.5 and dana 60 front! I'm looking to regear my Excursion to 4.88's or 5.13's. I have 38"s.
And he has an open diff… no LSD or locker
@@AncientAir just out of curiosity were the sterling rears open diff from 85-97?
What is the total time for each axle?
Just depends how it goes as far as setting it up. I probably have 5 labor hours start to finish in this.
What’s the tuner your running?
SCT X4 with gearhead tunes
why would you go backwards on the gears?
Going to smaller tires not larger.
☝️👍👍🤘
Just curious do you have a locker or a LSD, and from who. My shit only spins one tire 🤠😂
Man I have no idea I’ve never had a locker in any of my trucks and they’ve always spun both. I think it’s from where I run dif fluid with built in friction modifier instead of normal dif fluid then adding a bottle of friction modifier. But honestly I’m not sure why it spins both cause I haven’t put a aftermarket locker or anything in it.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH well I know on fx4 trucks they have an LSD, which it looks like you have, because mines just straight up open diff. My truck is an fx4 but unfortunately the optioned it without it, was tryna find something that didn’t have problems spinning 35s cause I heard some LSDs don’t work well with bigger tires cause too much leverage. Might just try to find a factory LSD
It’s 3.73… it’s an f250 4.88 are f450 and up.
This is a factory f250 3.73 axle that has been regeared to 4.88’s. Just going back to 3.73’s. It’s not a F450 axle. If that’s what your asking
What size tires do you have? What was the reasoning going back to stock gears ratio? I was looking at going to 4.88 from the stock 3.73.
I only have 35’s. For best hwy mpg & around town / average performance. 3.73’s is perfect for the daily driver on 35’s. Only reason I’d ever put 4.88’s back in is if I was on 42’s or bigger.
O okey. I thought for sure you had bigger then 35 inch tires. I’m wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I have 38’s now and about to go up to 44’s. Thanks for the info.
Your going to loose alot of power with those tires
I’m not worried about power haha. It’s just a show truck. I used to have 40’s on 3.73’s and was happy with how it ran. Now I’ll have 35’s on 3.73’s with bigger turbo and injectors. So I’m not really worried about power loss it’s not a race truck
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH ok I thought your tires were bigger
