Lovely to hear Bobby Tynan name mentioned from a man who invented the term “legend”. I remember BT being outstanding for us and had the talent to go far. (£115000 fee if I remember ?) Tragic for him that his knee injury stopped what could have been a great career. Ray is still a star!

That 02/03 season Ray was in charge for remains one of my favourite. Was only a young lad at the time and went to all homes and most aways - lot different to now! Got us our highest football league points total since the introduction of 3 points for a win. Great Tranmere servant and seems a nice bloke to boot.

Ray said he was from "Huyton in Liverpool" Huyton is just outside Liverpool.
As others have said, Ray stayed with us for a very long time as a player, coach and manager (I think he was unfairly sacked). I remember that that diagonal striped top, it was from the 1979/80 season, Cristal Palace had a similar kit then. We can all say that Ray was one of the Mr Tranmere group of legends.
