Oh my goodness rabbi Schneider I love your teaching. I just found your videos today. You are our modern day Nicodemus. I love that you can explain the Old Testament to us through your Jewish roots. I am a Christian I have been raised in the church. I hesitated in my opinion until I listened to your stance on baptism. You are teaching the true authentic truth. Thank you so much for your courage. I am buying your book as soon as possible!

Water baptism is a great experience in Christianity. When you’re baptized, you feel so new and alive. It’s like a burden has been lifted off your shoulders. This is the beauty of baptism. Thanks Rabbi for such a sound teaching!👏👏👏👏👏

    Water as womb...
Reminding me the conversation between Lord Jesus Christ with Nicodemus in the New Testament. Wow, the more i rewatch and hear, there are always things to still learn. Very much like the reading the Holy Bible. God be praised!

Im teaching a Sunday school class tomorrow morning, and while preparing, I was shocked to discover the word baptism doesn’t actually appear in the OT. I had to do a touch of extrabiblical research to understand. Thank you for this terrific resource. It will bless a group of young believers in Nashville, TN.

Rabbi this is my first full knowledge of the purpose of water baptism
I was baptized at age 13 but my life got worse I was never repented nor surrendered
Then at the age of 33 this time I had my child 5 years and we were baptized I got drawn away again by my own lust and by 37 I had gone again and taking my young child to be baptized in the SDA
At this present after now that I am learning about believing confessing repentance redemption forgiveness the full works of Christ Jesus I am living differently have been attending fellowship but I keep getting the feeling of wanting to be baptized then before today I listened to you this same message and get the understanding of why we were too be baptized I know that we wetr dipped into water
We hadn't died to our sins
We came up still born to new life in Christ Jesus
We were never sanctify we came up wet but not cleanse.
It has been close to 10 years
What should be done now that I know I've already turned back to God but I feel like there wasnt any merit in those baptisms
    Help direct me please

Pastor thank you for this amazing explanation. There are some churches that teach you are only saved at the moment when you enter into the baptism waters and come out of it. And they say you are not saved before baptism even though you have accepted Messiah as your Lord. Is that a true teaching? Thank you.

  • @sibongilechimbaza

Hello Rabbi. Thank you so much for this amazing teaching. Now I understand the symbolic significance of Baptism.
But I have something that worries me sometimes. Our family is identified with the presbyterian denomination and the way they baptize is by only sprinkling water on our foreheads. And sometimes I feel like it's not enough a baptism. My grandfather is a retired reverend and lives at the lake but refuses to baptise my little brother who so badly wants to get immersed in the water as that is how the baptism everywhere in the Bible was done. Our denomination also believes in infant baptism. But my little brother and I have made a conscious decision to follow Jesus and to be baptized again, but we don't know where to go next. Is it okay to take the same sprinkling enough a baptism?
But we will do whatever it takes to work out our salvation, if at all it is up to us?

Please let me know if I understand this correctly. This video answered a question I was looking for. Why and how did John the Baptist get the practice of baptism. I had no idea (immersion) as the habitual practice of the Hebrews was the Old Testament form of baptism. Practiced periodically for spiritual cleansing. The difference is new testament baptism is an immersion of cleansing done once and spiritual cleansing of all sin for all time. I feel ignorant and angry that I never knew this! So when John began baptizing the Jews were already familiar with the practice. It was not new. What was new is that John began to preach repentance to ALL jews and gentiles, and the religious. Preaching the coming of Messaiah. The the Jews, immersion had a significant meaning of habitual cleansing from God. For John then to begin preaching Christ and repentance of sin by a one time immersion for eternal cleansing was a dynamic offer to all the world not just jews. So now we can see why the religious Jewish order had a problem with John's baptism. Imagine, they considered themselves holy as descendants of Abraham chosen by God as his people. Now John is telling them they are unlean and have need of repentance and immersion for preparation of the Messaiah. Is this accurate?

I have had personal experience with two religious people in the past when I asked them about being baptised by their religion and I was shocked when they told me that they didn't baptise people who were not in their own ministry and I was led by the Lord Jesus to come out and say that they were all wrong in refusing to help people with their personal beliefs about the word of God Amen. I explained that when people were being baptised by the disciples and John the baptist, they were not made to serve a apprenticeship and provide them with evidence to deem them worthy of baptism. They said they had water baptism in their own ministry for the benefit of people who were coming into their own religion and they were not to baptise anyone who is not willing to become a member of their own sense of the word of God Amen. I told them that water baptism is a outward display of dying of your old self and being born under the water to your new life in the Lord Jesus, rising washed from your old life and clean to a new life in the Lord Jesus. One was a Deacon and the other a Elder in the church. So many people want to be renewed and baptised but so many religions will not baptised anyone unless they demonstrate their worthy of baptism and prepared to be a member of their own religion. I condemned them of their actions from being judgemental and question the motives of the people who want to be baptised. For they are not able to see the heart of the people. I told them that they were wrong to refuse to support and baptise for they are not true Christians in the word of God Amen.

Unfortunately this is the wrong message that he's sending here in this video, baptism is all symbolic and is NOT required for salvation. I'm sure that rabbi Schneider himself would agree, because in almost every single broadcast I've seen of his in the last 9 years he has said time and time again that confessing with your heart and believing that Christ died as the final atonement for the sins of mankind, and was resurrected from the dead, then you will be saved.

Willem DeBest this is how baptism is🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿I have never seen the one you are talking about..this immersion in the water as a sign of death in our sins and the we rise to a new life in Christ Jesus...and this baptism is of those who have made up their minds to make Jesus Christ as their lord and savior..children are not baptized;we dedicate them unto God until they are old enough to understand the way(Jesus Christ)

Good message but I am hearing the word "symbolize" a bit too much. Baptism is more than a symbol, there is real power in salvation from the power of sin in baptism. Baptism actually connects us to Jesus' burial and resurrection - according to scripture.
