That is also my opinion. Passive listening is also a good option. ✍👂

Words matter ~ speaking words well is what gives them substance and gravity. Speaking words from the heart is what breathes life into them. You are a true wordsmith and language artist.

How to learn vocabulary as an adult:
    1. Every time you find a word you don't know: open the dictionary, look for the word, read its meaning and pronunciation.
    2. That is it!!

    Namaste Jade,
I have been watching your Videos for years.
I'm most grateful to you for sharing your perspektive on the topic because it shows me that I'm on the right track.
One thing I'd like to mention that works well for me is creating examples with a kind of personal and emotional bridge based on past experiences.
    Accept my humble gratitude

Is it fair and "legal" to attach a personal view/meaning/understanding to a word and accept it as such into your dictionary? Would it be enrichment or/and distortion for the meaning?

Better to stick to the authority of the dictionary.

Thank you very much for a wonderful lesson. I know another strategy how to learn a word with different meanings. We need to make a "word related family"
    for example: play
    play the guitar, play football
a play (swritten for the theatre)
a playwright - a person who writes plays for theatres.
player (in sport) a footbal player, a tennis player.

For me is important keep practicing, if you are not a native English speaker, you need do it ! Read books in English, watch movies it helps, but talk to someone is the better way to learn, understand and get more and more vocabulary …

    • @JadeJoddle

I don't tend to learn that much vocabulary from having conversations. For me, conversations are a chance to practise what I already know and understand. But let's imagine that I had a friend who introduced new words and then explained them to me, that would be very helpful.

    • @ElizabethSagioro

@ exactly ! Sorry for my mistake, I meant knew words in the use of that, new expressions for the same meaning on daily routine! Thank you so much for noticing me !

Thank you, Jade! I always watch you videos to improve my listening skills which is the most difficult for me personally :)
Do you speak in your natural pace or you slow your speaking down for non-native viewers?
    Thanks again!

Well, things are could be easier between french and in English language. Keep in mind they are in the same language family. Some words are could be inspire in your mind when you hear them.
But I'm a turk and Turkish language is in asian language families like close to japanese. Not even close to European languages.
However jade, You and me we make a family together so i could learn english quite well Marry me! 😂😂

Ha, ha funny. I think you have been imparted with “ good “ behaviour and attitude from your parents and they got you a befitting education that you deserve that lead you to make a “beautiful” comment under an educational video done by a noble lady.
You might have been celebrated by your country men, right? since you made them proud with your “Native Cultural Verbatim”.
Friends, Romans and countrymen, please gather here, let’s cherish a guy who knows how to be funny with his adult jokes.
Shall I pause a question for you, Mr. Funny guy? Have your entire generation been learning English in this way?

I don't have a talent for learning foreign languages. I've been learning English for over 30 years. I can read, understand and write but still I have a problem with speaking, conceal my accent...
I have a respect for every speaker of foreign languages, it's a hard work to master it...
