if one day anti-gravity propulsion is invented we will be nostalgic for old technologies like this engine or rocket engines..... and this engine is truly powerful, as demonstrated by the fact that it is continually admired.😊❤
Now install two more in a tractor, hook it to a sled and go full throttle for 300 feet. They typically don't pull as good as several blown v8s but still a great show. Good sounding engine for sure. Saw a guy blow the block apart once at The Buck tractor pull. Not a cheap fix.
Is it me, or does that thing sound like a top fuel engine when it starts?....... then went to titling it sounds like the nastiest biggest straight six you ever heard....😮
I've always wondered if the turbo supercharger set up from the Merlin could have been adapted to the Allison to improve the high altitude use. The P38 system worked well but seems a little convoluted and exaggerated.
That inertia starter makes an unmistakable noise.

Those engines used in tractors in the modified class are just crazy

Love the sound 👍👍🇸🇪
Miss the hydro WW oats with these.
They used to use that engine and the merlin engine in hydoplanes when i was growing up.
In the total history of internal combustion engines... nothing in this world compares to that unique rap og the exhaust..
Allison V12 gasoiline aircraft engine.
Tractor pull ❤😂
Sometimes they have 3 of these!

About 12th in the list of wartime piston engines.
What a wonderful noise pretty soon they'll have electric motors like that no fun too quiet😅

Same! You'd think Allison could have solved that issue during the course of WWII
Outstanding
I want one
Idk what engine that is....but for some reason i wanna put it in my 240sx.
Allison v12 aircraft engine, it breaks the sound barrier 900 times a second
How is that a “V” 12!? Last I checked V engines had exhaust from both sides
I just cant.......will someone else help him.......
🇺🇸🚀🚀🚀🇺🇸💓
Firing up all those old in-line 6 fords before hooking up the exhaust plumbing had this exact exhaust note.
Good times.
Only thing better would be 26 cylinders.
I need it to fit in my Lotus 7.
v24
Y is it called a v 12 the cylinders are all in line look at the exhaust pipes 12 of them look before u leap or speak !!!
I read it has 4 valves per cylinder meaning 2 exhaust ports per cylinder.
The other bank is on the far side of the camera. It's definitely a V12.
Smarten up before YOU speak.
You mean v24 there is 12 a side
Four valves per cylinder, two exhaust pipes per cylinder.
