Smith was magnificent!! I got to see him in Sacramento California in March 1995 and in 2000. What a treat. He has the best version of Satin Doll that I have heard and It gave me some ideas on how to play this song on my B-3 Hammond and Hammond keyboards! Jimmy is greatly missed,but he gave us Joey DeFrancesco.
Jimmy was a true jazz great! His recordings with Wes Montgomery are among my favorites. My dad's jazz record collection included Jimmy, Kenny and Wes, as well as Grant Green, Miles Davis, and Herbie, among so many others.
