To find the second symbol, on The Dark Side of The Moon
Travelling through the portal, through black holes in space
Faster than the speed of light, to take me to the place
To find the next symbol, what challenge will I face
Will I now encounter, another ancient race?
I find myself in a crater, deep as an ocean floor
Where I see a tunnel, that I must explore
Following it's pathway, deep inside the cave
Will it now lead me, to my early grave
Or will I find, the symbol that I crave
Or find an elder race, that I can enslave
Descending down the tunnel, I began to hear
Sounds of something evil, ringing in my ears
An opening to a cavern, is within my sight
Then I see an altar, lit by violet light
Then I see a creature, facing to the East
What I can only describe, as a hideous Moon Beast
It is worshipping a symbol, the one I am looking for
I must now obtain it, a fate I can't ignore
There's no time, to, ponder, what I should do
Using my powers, that, were, given to me
I spring into action, very, quickly, and slay the Beast
Once it is dead, I, must, grab the sigil
I jump on the creature, putting, my hands, around it's neck
It's tentacles grab me, wrapping, around, crushing my body
I strangle the Beast, with all, my might, and twist off it's head
I then grab the sigil, off of, the altar, and make my escape.

I love the hooky rhythms. I swear many modern bands forget how to make a song stick in your head and just get lost in noodling riffs that go in one ear and out the next. I also love you can understand the vocals. So far this album is shaping up to be a scorcher…

Mike Browning is Nocturnus, period. As much as I did like "Ethereal Tomb", it wasn't the same thing. Nocturnus A.D. truly brought back the old spirit. And some incredible new music, to boot.

Mike never dissapoints with his music!!! Since the Nocturnus demos!!! BTW I did a cool interview with Mike three weeks ago at my RUclips channel called RAGE REVIEWS. Very humble and down to earth, he talked a lot of this new one, The Key, his career and Morbid Angel.

Mike Browning is an absolute legendary Death-Metal Vocalist and a musician Still Cosmic and technical so superb this is Nocturnus Old-School Death Metal sound never fails to deliver again, Progressive Death-Metal Masterpiece of a song:-).
Super excited for this. Two songs so far showing good promise of cosmic horror death metal madness! The Key is still in a class of its own, as is Abominations of Desolation.
This is Absolutely Amazing! I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but what I don't understand is what is going on inside a person that needs to write bad comments on someone else's work...if they don't like it then why bother just move on it's not that difficult. This Band has put alot of hard work and efforts into this album and it shows they are a great team everyone of them has put in 100% and this Album is a masterpiece! Nocturnus AD Rules!!!!!🤘🔥🤘
Great video and song! Mike Browning never dissapoints! Did an interview in my channel with him 3 w/a very humble and down to earth. I dont want to put the link to avoid problems, it has also spanish subs. Talks much about the new one, The Key, Paradox and Morbid Angel years.

The worst thing about this band was always the vocals. The patterns and accents are like some local High School Legion Hall band.

@@biorythmicshifter C'mon, it's not a very interesting track. Not a patch on their recent 'Cephalo God'. The riffs are totally generic.
@@AdAstra78 I agree the first track is better but this tune wasn’t bad. It’s got a pretty cool catchiness to the riffing style. Personally I find Thresholds to be the crowning achievement for Nocturnus but at the same token this is “AD” so I give a little slack because I consider this a different band. Give it a few more listens before making that call, I can’t tell you how many albums that I wasn’t immediately blown away with that grew on me back in the day.
@@biorythmicshifter Well, as you allude to, it's nice to have new tunes from any iteration of Nocturnus. I totally hear you about tracks being 'growers', but having been into this kind of stuff since the early 90's, I found the riffing on this track really, really bland and way, way too familiar. It may work better in the context of the album, but I'm not hearing anything interesting going on here unfortunately. Especially compared to their previous single.

I keep trying to give Nocturnus AD a chance, but it's just not the same. The vocal pacing is horrible. It's sound like a 5th grader narrating... "then I did this.... then I did that...." Like who the F wrote The Key? It can't have been Mike Browning cause how do you not hear that? The music itself is missing that rawer thrasher edge so badly. Feels like all the technical parts are just barely strung together with no thought given to making a song. Maybe just a bad song, but ain't holding out much hope for this album
I agree so much, and I hate that I do. This is such an old man washed up band at this point. The vocals are literally just talking like he’s reading a kids book. The rawness and power are gone. It’s like do these bands not listen back to their old albums that people love? Dont frontman a band if you’re not willing to/unable to do it properly.

I disagree. This is your reading of the situation, mine is different. And yes, I've been listening to Nocturnus since 1990. I still enjoy this song, the others and the opportunity to bathe again in this creative universe.
I'm not saying I'm crazy about each and every riff or line coming from Nocturnus AD or Nocturnus, etc.
I just think they give me no ground to burn what I have adored, quite the contrary.
And I am going to buy the album, having listened to the singles.
