As a Massa fan, I believe this was one of his worst races yet

2008 was a year where all title contenders drove badly. You have Massa spinning 5 times at Silverstone, spinning in Australia, spinning in Malaysia, going off at Monaco. And then you have Hamilton crashing into Alonso at Bahrain, crashing in the pit lane in Canada, illegally overtaking Vettel in France, and generally lacking pace at Brazil. And then you have Raikkonen crashing in Monaco, crashing in Spa, crashing in Singapore. A very error-prone season in the first year of the traction control ban and that is what made 2008 so entertaining in my opinion. The unpredictability was off the charts.

It’s appalling that no one is talking about Lewis’s wet weather skills. HE LAPPED EVERYBODY EXCEPT THE TWO PODIUM RUNNERS. And even they were a full minute behind him. Have some respect for the 6 time world champ.

You mean Massa. Kimi managed to keep up with Lewis until Ferrari screwed him over by not changing his tyres.
Cletus Spuckler Massa very clearly had a setup issue. It even spun driving in a straight line. Most likely Ferrari thinking it would dry up therefore using a dry setup. Commentators also talked about a throttle issue.

My only guess is the rotating plexiglass tube around camera. Not sure if they have some kind of brushes or whatever inside to clear them off though.

The wind is the clearing system lol.. only on the tv heli do they have the rotating glass that spins the water away
@@pabloescobar1106 We've seen the water drop on a cylindrical path downwards towards the bottom of the screen even when the car is stationary.

Back then I actually took a glass bowl to test if it would be enough because I was certain F1 had a high-tech secret solution haha
Many years later I found gokart helmet mounted cylindrical cameras also clean up that same way with just wind and water weight

Say everything you want about 2 of Massa's spin, but the other 3 are pretty obvious to someone that is serious and doesn't want to joke that there is an issue
-He spun twice at Luffield when he smoothly applied the throttle, without touching any kerb white line. Kimi spun in the same manner once.
- His third spin was a result of acquaplaning, wrong tyres at the worst part of the circuit
Kimi spun because he was on the wrong tyres. Massa is just a trash driver. He did the EXACT same mess in Silverstone 2002. Enough. He is mediocre. Always has been. Fisichella destroyed him in 2004 too.
He was being overtaken a lot, struggled a lot and couldn't get the grip.
@@markhenley3097 it's obvious that he wasn't confident, but especially the 2 spins at Luffield weren't a mistake by his side... Engine mapping there was an issue

@Ethan Surman he had some solid drives in Silverstone afterwards as well, in 2015 and 2016. Despite the fact that Williams was extremely low downforce wise, he didn't do any mistake
If you remember 2008, it was the first time since 1999 that traction control was banned again. All the drivers were still trying to adjust to it, the first round was hilarious to watch

You should not give up even when you are last. Remember Monaco gp rewind a few weeks ago. The 3rd podium was the last car. Maybe all the car in front will crash at the final lap and massa can get on the podium.
