- My departure on a Transatlantic passage is delayed due to the virus. I explain the major improvements to the boat I have made in preparation for this passage: new bottom, new mainsail, new standing rigging, Iridium GO, temporary solar panels…..
Isabell topless??? Oh yea your in france.
Love it.
Good to see you
Be safe in these trying times
What year and what boat does this kind gentleman sail with.I wish he will make a tour of his boat and set up..
@Hi There
Million thanks!!
@@djurodjurakaruci6773 It is a German-built Bavaria 40 Cruiser Djuro from 2008. Thanks fr watching.
This channel and the old sea dog channels are the best. No music no butts no editing crap and drones..
I have been following the Old Sea Dog since he began his adventure several years ago. ig fan.
I'm glad that I found this channel.
Patrick... you don't know how much we missed you!
As usual Patrick provides an unusual amount of great information in one short RUclips video! Quality time spent watching.👍🏼👍🏼
I'd choose a deck stepped mast over a keel stepped mast for the following reasons:
The bilge remains dry.
Noise from banging halyards is not transmitted into the saloon.
Condensation forming on the mast is not an issue.
It doesn't act as a heatsink and conduct warmth away from the saloon.
A keel stepped mast is obtrusive.
Deck stepped mast avoids the possibility of a flailing spar inside the saloon should the rigging fail in an extreme event.
I'm enjoying your videos Patrick. I think they're wonderful. Best of luck with your next venture.
So good to see you back Patrick. Have a great season my friend.
Ditto...
Thanks to both. Let's hope this crisis is of short duration.
Hi Patrick, It’s great to see you back and hear your confident tone. We need a bit of optimism during these extraordinary times. Look forward to sharing your new adventures. 😊
It's a good thing all of our stupid stuff isn't recorded for all to see! Happy to see you again. I hope you and all your family stay well.
Ha! I'm too old to care much about that kind of stuff. Not trying to impress. Hopefully, 1 or 2 people might learn something from my "minor misjudgments". ;-)
Im sure you got a good price for Isabel when you both parted company. The new owner will benefit greatly from your due diligence and additional expense. Well Done
Well I’m sure Isabelle is very happy with her new outfits!! Hope you are well Patrick and that you (we!) can all get back underway soon. I have to say thank you for your sailing series, it’s been very refreshing and certainly been very enjoyable (kept me sane) while recovering from this damn “bat flu”....
I went out today for a short local sail for the first time in about two months. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to depart our local areas for the time being, and many neighboring countries are introducing 14 day quarantine periods for foreign arrivals. Hopefully, things will improve in June.......
Patrick Laine Great to hear from you Patrick and glad you can still sail even if only locally. Best social distancing there is! Stay safe and well.
Hi Patrick, that was really helpful. Especially the pricing, it is great to have an idea of costs. You come across very well on video, very calm, professional and assured. You have a great talent. Fair winds ⛵️🐟
Thanks for the kind feedback Gary.
We sincerely trust you are keeping well, we miss the adventures of Captain Patrick⛵️
Thanks Tom. I am patiently sitting out the lockdown like everyone else. Greatly looking forward to getting back out to sea!
I'm always amazed at how quiet your engine is when I see you dock.,,,very nice.
Yes, I'm lucky. Some of my neighbors' boats sound like dragsters revving their engines when they come alongside. Mine is a modest Volvo Penta 40 HP -- in a fairly well-insulated engine compartment.
Regarding the mast sitting on the keel or as yours, This young gentleman gives a good information as to the advantages of both. Maybe you know him, but his insight of sailing is good. Hope to see more of your sailing soon ;-)
Dear Patrick, hope you are isolating and finding enjoyable things to do. I am fine with being alone. not much change there. Am in FL and we have no tests here which is somewhat upsetting. Floridians party and infect each other. 4 million seniors stay inside. Anyway, I enjoy my garden, reading, cooking, doing house stuff I usually dont do, writing some 'positive' short stories, talking to friends on phone. I sure hope you and your family are faring well. cheers and good health. cris
Many thanks. Am sitting quietly at home (going crazy). The marina is a 2 minute drive from my home, but access is forbidden. I'm not complaining; just hoping this passes quickly. Stay safe!
Thanks for this video. So inspirering see you sailing singlehamded and all your thougts and preperation

Informative as always Patrick. Good to see you once more. One of my favourite channels.
I've watched many of these episodes two and three times. The excitement and education has been wonderful (even among landlocked lads). I know Canadian TV networks would love interesting and exciting content like this. Hollywood?
or Bollywood ;-)
@@patricklaine6958 ...or both! You have a very natural talent and our television content is dreadful.
Good to see you out there again Patrick.

It's lovely to see you back Mr Laine - fair winds and a safe sail my friend sending regards 👏❤️😁xxx
Hi Patrick, in the case of our Freedom sailboat, all the way through the keel, the carbon fiber mast needs no stays…thus no standing rigging. Our deck and bow is much cleaner. Think of a telephone pole or a radio station tower which need support or guide wires.
Thanks Mark. Yeah, I have heard of the approach of the Freedom range...... Very interesting concept. Fair winds to you.
Patric write a book about all your adventures and your life I,m sure we would all enjoy it , hope your self isolating and staying safe
Many thanks David. Am sitting patiently at home, like everyone else. Stay safe.
Nice to hear from you. Good to see you have so many improvements and upgrades. Yes, I agree so many YT videos on doing the work. I enjoy most about your channel is your sailing and narrative! Best wishes stay safe and healthy!
