When I was in a psych unit it had its own garden fully enclosed, some of us were allowed to go out of the unit when we wanted and sometimes have home leave, or if we couldn't, we may have had staff with us. It depended on whether we were sectioned, what section, or voluntary. It was on the same site as the main hospital. I can tell you more about the Psych unit if you don't know so that you can figure out what you need to figure out in your book x

Actually, that's really helpful! I might change it to having its own enclosed garden then. I'd love for you to tell me a bit more about it, I'm sorry to hear that you were in the psych unit, I always hear lots of bad stories/experiences of people being in a psych ward. Is it always like that? Or are there any good experiences with it? Like with the treatment, the nurses/doctors?
Personally, I've never experienced being in a psych ward, so I'll probably never fully understand it. But I have experienced lots of mental health issues. and have been in A&E a couple times for overdoses. And because I was under 18 at the time, or had just turned 18, I was referred to CAMHS but they unfortunately didn't do much to help me. The only time I'd say they were ever helpful was back in secondary school when I was self harming. My school counsellor referred me to them, and then CAMHS had referred me to the outpatient peds ward for an autism diagnosis. I got diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) back in August 2016.
      Sorry, I'm rambling 😂
I only know things about the psych ward and not enough about people's experiences that go through it. I feel like as a society, we only ever hear about the bad stories and all the bad experiences. So I'd love to hear some more about your experience, was it was like for you, if it's something you're comfortable with sharing with me. But, of course, you don't have to share anything with me unless you want to.
