- These are my visual notes to try and better understand what is happening here in Barcelona/Catalonia/Spain.....
Over 700,000 protesters took to the streets of Barcelona today, tuesday, Oct. 3rd, as the local political leaders called a general strike (huelga) to protest the police violence on Sunday. Over 800 people were treated for injury that day. Spain and Catalonia are in a dispute on the legal process for resolving their political differences. Very complicated. Lots of true leadership needed here.
Here are some of the protesters. These are the faces of the Barcelona region.
Thoughout the day a variety of emotions swept through the crowd from Joy to Anger with everything in-between. People are wanting to be heard. On all sides of this issue. Muy complicado emocionalmente.
Great images. History in the making my friend. I can imagine the passion and expectations of all these people, and certainly can understand their frustration concerning 'Madrid' now and in the past. But I cannot help feeling sorry for Catalunya and the people who live there, also from other regions Spain. Despite all the flags and cheerful people, I can only see division.
