You did, however, kinda miss the point of the rename rule - it's actually a clever little bit of psychological manipulation that adds another level to the death-as-consequence tension. Humans attach an inherent psychological value to something that's named, and they tend to feel that attachment moreso when they name them. It's why you don't care if some stranger's dog dies (well, unless you're a huge dog lover, but even then it's less intense) but if it's your dog that dies, you're pretty wrecked. Giving pokemon unique names forms a bond immediately, and spending time training it up only amplifies that. Some prisons refer to inmates by numerical designation rather than name to help their guards deal with what they're doing to them (even at humane prisons - the very act of incarcerating someone against their will is kinda inherently unpleasant for most people to deal with) The rename rule is intended to fight the idea of "oh, my Gengar died. I wonder if I'll have a chance to get another one." as opposed to the loss of "Oh no! Mr. Spookerton died!" (It also gets around the weird disconnect of having their "name" change several times over the course of their training, which you get when you just refer to them by species name as they level. For example, in Unova the inner and outer Pinwheel Forest areas have different encounters so even though they share the name, I count them as separate. So at least I would count each area of the Wild Area as it's own place. Also, as an addition I feel like the random nature of the encounters in other Pokemon games is a part if the challenge, so I would also try to avoid the pokemon I see on the overworld and go for the ones hidden within the grass. ...hm... Not going to lie, I clicked on this video for one reason and one reason only: to get a definitive answer on Fuchsia Gym. I've never been interested in Nuzlockes myself, but Let's Go's mechanics *do* make me wonder what the minimal number of captures required to become Champion is.
You need 50 obtained, you get 1 for your starter and up to 18 from fully evolving gift pokemon, this leaves 31 to obtain, assuming all but 1 are 3 stage pokemon this is a grand total of 11 catches EDIT: miscalculation, the red and blue starters are gated beind catches, so only 9 available from gift pokemon, this makes it 14 catches

Impressive, I was considering doing a nuzlocke of lets go Pikachu, but simplifying it a little to you can only “Use” the first Pokemon on each route. Allowing any and all catches but only using in battle the 1st Pokemon caught on each route.
That's what I commented also. If he would read through the rules more clearly he would know that. Would of made for a more interesting video in my opinion. A harder game does not equal more entertainment. Just saying.
I think he misunderstood the nickname rule. What you’re supposed to do is give them names so they feel more like your friends and you get attached to them.
This was an interesting video. When I heard you explain that you’d strategically encounter Pokémon, I felt like it was infringing on the spirit of a Nuzlocke a bit. But seeing how you planned around the built-in challenge of collecting 50 captures with such a limited ruleset, I thought that it fulfilled the spirit of making the game harder. Thanks for doing this AJP. I guess it is possible to do a Nuzlocke run with LGP/LGE.
These would be my rules I would use for a Let's Go Nuzlocke: 1: You may catch as many Pokemon as you want, *however* you may only use the first caught Pokemon from that area. All others must be immediately sent off for candy, this is how you would grind in the game. 2: You must nickname your Pokemon 3: If a Pokemon faints it is dead and must be sent off for candy. 4: Gift Pokemon are considered the catch for that area. 5: If you black out it is game over. 6: Other rules such as species clause and catch limit clause can be put in place as seen fit.
I've been giving it some thought that if I were to Nuzlocke this game, I would do the "catch the first Pokemon per route" and then only be able to catch/grind on that Pokemon. Like, if I caught a Pidgey on Route 1, I can only catch Pidgey on that route to grind. Probably transfer them so I don't end up using them.

Fun fact: even if you catch 1 of every pokemon available to you asap, you'll be in Rock Tunnel by the time you catch enough to get the gift Bulbasaur
How’s this fact fun?

No you
this just displays how easy pokemon games have gotten. would love a real hard mode
This seemed like so much extra effort compared to normal Nuzlockes.
it was.
So let's go nuzlocke is harder than standard? Not easy mode? XD
@@Tjprower the hard part wasnt the battles it was the bs requirments to get through the game if it wasnt for fuscia the game would have a chance at being nuzlockable. because choosing your encounter literally defeats the purpose.
Oddish was my go to for so much of my first play through as well... love the little guy.

Don't Die is a girl.
Look at the tail. And the gender next to the level. Its a female.
Exactly! I was looking for this comment!
Thank you someone realised I saw at the start
The little heart tail is unmissable 💕
Ain’t that true, I was annoyed the whole episode
Anyone know the odds of getting a female starter? Or were you just given a female starter in Lets Go?
Super fun to watch thanks for video. Also, dramatic protagonist death at the end. Really made me worry you were about to go game over!!!
When you have a budew in gen 4 it's pretty much a nuzlocke for half the game
Me who’s on a quest to do a nuzlcoke run of every single game: *starts taking notes*
Impressive, I was considering doing a nuzlocke of lets go Pikachu, but simplifying it a little to you can only “Use” the first Pokemon on each route. Allowing any and all catches but only using in battle the 1st Pokemon caught on each route.
Kayden Hillin A
assign each pokemon that can spawn on the route a number and roll a dice. it really tests your team building skills when you roll 9 pidgies
Or just say you can only catch the first species that you encounter on a route
That's what I commented also. If he would read through the rules more clearly he would know that. Would of made for a more interesting video in my opinion. A harder game does not equal more entertainment. Just saying.
I think he misunderstood the nickname rule. What you’re supposed to do is give them names so they feel more like your friends and you get attached to them.
Dude you failed. You didn’t rename Clefable
Twadle wow I just noticed that
he renamed it mt moon
His grimer and muk weren’t named
you don't have to nickname. that's an unspoken rule.
Gregory Mirabella yea but you SHOULD cuz u get attached then it dies soo..

Not allowed in Nuzlocke. You need to catch first encounter
@@wy0tt43 nuzlockes use the dupes clause so if your first encounter on a new route is 1 you already have you don't need to catch it.
Same thing with the snorlax on top of being an "event" pokemon which means he could still catch something there
he uses the absolute traditional nuzlocke rules, that means no additional clauses
@@turtleman56x nope. The ORIGINAL Nuzlocke Rules don't have a Dupes clause.

Re:zero?????
These would be my rules I would use for a Let's Go Nuzlocke:
1: You may catch as many Pokemon as you want, *however* you may only use the first caught Pokemon from that area. All others must be immediately sent off for candy, this is how you would grind in the game.
2: You must nickname your Pokemon
3: If a Pokemon faints it is dead and must be sent off for candy.
4: Gift Pokemon are considered the catch for that area.
5: If you black out it is game over.
6: Other rules such as species clause and catch limit clause can be put in place as seen fit.
Theriomancer then there won’t be anything challenging...
Just add "no items"
I've been giving it some thought that if I were to Nuzlocke this game, I would do the "catch the first Pokemon per route" and then only be able to catch/grind on that Pokemon. Like, if I caught a Pidgey on Route 1, I can only catch Pidgey on that route to grind. Probably transfer them so I don't end up using them.
I wish I never clicked read more
Your rules are for the most part "just play the game normally"
Yeah, Lance is known for causing Super Soaker battles - aka "Spam Full Restore until the AI decides to play fair."
