pretty much, once I got that figured out the tank kinda clicked, though this was around 2014-2017, before all the OP premiums (at least I 3marked it back then, when it was a bit easier)

This tank was never bad to begin with, it just required proper angling to succeed. It was always better than the Tiger II, until Tiger II got it's massive buffs, sadly it became a victim of the power creep so it's nice to see it buffed. Also they still haven't given this tank the promised penetration buff years ago, when it was supposed to get 208mm pen and the T32 206mm. Years later T32 got buffed to 218mm and this tank still didn't get the buff.
@@HP4L16 Ahhh. It still doesn't do terribly well at brawling, better for long range engagements. I guess VK was better than Tiger II because of turret placement?
back in the day when there were only the maus and e100 as t10 HTs, the king tiger had mid tier 7 gun battle impact bar accuracy. Armor that gets challenged by tier 7s, ineffective at tier 8 even when angled, non existent at tier 9 even against LTs. The indien pz outclassed it in so many ways as a tank as a whole despite it being a heavy. It was left forgotten like that for years iirc until the renaissance of the german tech tree where they introduced the T9 maus, vk72, etc, but even then it took months after that fact before they tweaked the existing tanks in the tree. There is a reason why there are tier 5 panthers, tier 6 tigers and tier 7 king tigers. Those are how they performed initially but +1 tier higher in the tree
It was always my favourite tank from aesthetics point of view. Played it quite a lot even before they removed machine gun turret from front plate. As it is kind of half-baked medium tank, I was often joining force with my fellow mediums and would go support them, for that purpose I would even replace top turret with stock one, since it is much lighter and I was able to keep up better. But it was before 255 mm from turret, so so it was even worth it sometimes, but penalty in accuracy, dpm and hp would make up for increased mobility. In any case glad to see that this tank gets more love as he deserves.
Back when I was very bad at this game and the maus was my first line, I think the most frustrating part of this tank was the pen. I saw no reason as to why it had to be lower than tiger II like just why did it only have 200mm lol
Oh yeah... I remember when I started to play on around 2015/2016, this tank was my first ever tier 8 because I wanted the Maus. And I can say that my time in it was mostly unpleasant. I enjoyed my Tiger P so well. But this tank was just painful. Then as I keep grinding toward the tier 9, they updated the tech tree and separate the Maus line. I remember how drastic my gaming experience was when I switched from this to the VK100.01P. But still, this tank holds a special place in my heart too due too how we went through pain and suffering together. So I'm glad that it got buffed well despite I'm not playing WoT anymore. Not the PC version at least.
If you thought this was insane, the Blitz version of the game buffed this tank ages ago. Not only is the turret 250 mm on the front, but the cupola is impenetrable and the upper plate is also now very strong. With the game-mechanic bending Tungsten Rounds consumable which buffs your average damage to 105-125% of the regular alpha for 15 seconds it is a BEAST- fast enough to bully mediums and also go toe to toe with heavies.
@@minnesotarailfan12 had the Anni and Smasher and then events after events (crazy recycled base tank with rediscoulus skin) battle pass . Couldn't enjoy the game anymore not to mention the veterans are gone and the quality of players significantly dropped.
@@JNF590you’re right about those two tanks but the number of OP vehicles released has dropped off quite a bit in the past 2 years or so. Battlepass really didn’t do much, you didn’t need to get the tank if you didn’t want to or you could just sell it for gold. I’d still recommend a new player to start with Blitz instead of PC, it’s just so much easier to get into.
i thought this tank was quite okay as long as you played it as a slower medium. i played through it loads of years ago when i was grinding through it to get to the panzer 7 its nice for this tank to get a buff tho. it was a bit underpowerd
So with the map outline you are talking about and hope it was confusing you, the train the tank outline was different that the modeling is because the outline for what was available to sit on the table was based off the enemies side of the map, so it takes into account only the rubble directly in front of them. At lest that's my guess and makes most sense to me lol.
WAY back in the game, VK 30.01 (P) led to the Panther line with Panther II being tier IX. I simply sucked in the game back then so grinding was a chore, so imagine my shock when I wanted to go to mediums and I was practically forced into heavies. Tiger(P) was playable but the 45.02A with the tall profile coupled with an armor and track layout some mediums (back then! like the S. Pershing) would beat was something that bled money as a free to play player. Still I liked the fact that I was "the guy" in school who had the time to grind a tier VIII, even though I would have later preferred the IS-3. But like many others have said, the aesthetics are one of a kind and the way the main gun handles was something extraordinary even then. The tier VIII, Paper Tiger, 4502.
I used to love this tank when I played it years ago. I never felt it was that bad until the armor and penetration inflation left its gun barely adequate and its armor almost worthless. Back in the day it had good acceleration, fairly good armor when angled against people who were unaware of its weakspots (which was most of them for quite a while considering this thing was seen once in 1000 games or so), and an acceptable gun. Especially its lower plate being stronger than its upper plate bamboozled a lot of players.
About a century ago, when I was playing the phone version of this game, I really enjoyed the VK. For me, it was the faster and softer Tiger. The gun was way worse in terms of pen but it made up by rate of fire. I enjoyed the B version even more because I could just bully everyone with my nearly stone-wall like upper plate. The good old days (5 years ago) before fantasy tanks infested that game.
I actually liked playing it back in 2014. It wasn't an E-75, but nothing's as fun as an E-75. I know this isn't in the same line, but that's just how I played it. And it worked very well for me.
Yeah, Wargaming butchered Studzianki map from my perspective by removing cover on the South for both sides. I guess they did it to neutralize the impact of TDs and arty, but it actually led to standstill in the centre of South it seems.

i’m surprised they buffed it rather than make it a collectors tank and replace with something that actually fits the rear turreted VK B and Pz 7 (even though with the huge ring weakpoint in the pz7 it’s better to poke around corners front first like VK A does)
I felt like this was an upgrade from the Tiger P, I didn't actually mind playing it, especially because the tier 8 power-creep wasn't as intense back then (before the Defender, Liberté and Patriot)
I just came back 2 days ago, started watching you again and saw this video and it made me so happy, this is one of my favorites even tho 2 years ago it was pretty bad but fun to play. Now with this info ill definitely bring this tank out and show off thw 3 marks i got 2 years ago 🙌🏼
We need a dedicated video for the FSV, the most fun tier 7 medium right now. Tier 10 gun handling and accuracy, high camo, and a tiny vehicle make it the most pesky tank of the tier
I think the main problem with this tank is the top gun is actually the weaker 105 that the Tiger 2 gets, so that's why it doesn't perform as well. It has slightly less pen than the 88 from the Tiger 1, so it''s really not a good gun at Tier 8
ah yes.. the tank i have 33 wn8 on in 37 games :) Now granted, my dad played a lot back then, and he would go all out, full gas at the enemy, 0 knowledge of weak points. that's why after that he threw his wallet at WG and went all the way up to the maus just like that. But playing myself, i remember it was a TRAGIC tank. still have trauma, not buying it back. (once my dad stopped playing i got 289 games in my 705A, 1894WN8, i'm not a puppy i swear lmao)
Just grinded pass this tank and I absolutely love it! Got I think 4 Ace Tanker on just a few games and fist mark it, now I'm in the tier IX hell for this tech tree. Why can't the tier IX get even the same gun as the Tiger II. It's an absolute hell even using full gold to pen tanks that I face.
Never had problems with it back in the day yeah the dpm was lacking but if use right the armor was already good an sufficiant but considering that even QB seems to not really use the frontloaded turret and good armor angles.
Ohh, I like this tank honestly. It's fast but yeah it does suffers lot from low dpm, no armor and no depression. Now it seems like it can hull down like a boss
Its kinda high skill cap tank. It looks like QB bouncing everything but many prem t8 and higher tiers can pen you easily. If you face like vipera, defender or bisonte etc (which u see them brawling), they can pen you and you cant pen them. If i see you alone and in the defener im definitely facehugging It is better than before but you have to know what you can do or otherwise you cant to anything else. Best way is to use its depression. Its still pretty bad compared to all tanks tier for tier
Now they just need to fix the VK 100 P... that was the worst grind I have ever experienced. Now that I have the Maus it was worth it, but jeez did that tank suck.
I remember hating this tank back in 2014, but later I found a way to make it work, though when they buffed the gun depression from -6 to -8 I was very happy, managed to 3 mark it, the experience must be about the same now with the buffs, since all the OP shit in the game make it about as good as it was in 2014-2015
I don’t remember having to difficult of a time with this tank. Everyone was telling me to play this like a Heavium and sure nuff, it worked out good. Wasn’t the greatest, but not to bad. I kinda like it. HOWEVER! The tier 9 of this line? Now THAT was a piece of shit, right there! So freakin’…I don’t know…”outdated” when I played it half a year ago. The T10 made up for it, sorta.
@@robertlocock5636 Exactly. The front stuck out just enough were you can “fake out” your opponent in coming around the corner, then they take the shot, bounce on the front plate, and you come around to take the shot. The problem is that open spot just above that cog when your angling around the corner.
I personally never had too much problems with this tank back in the day. Sure, it wasn't overpowered, but it didn't feel underpowered, somewhat like a pre-speed buffed centurion 1. Sometimes, I thought about buying it back, and now that it has been buffed ...
Haven't actively played since 2015 but still watch YT and streams on it, always contemplating if I should return or not and endure the pain and horror once again.
this tank is the best tier 8 heavy i have ever played. the armor just seems to work and the gun is absolutely wild. its the only tier 8 i have ever even concidered not selling after grinding up to next tier. btw how do you guys do this. do you put a fresh crew in the old tank and move the other one up to next tank or what? :)
Was my favorite for a very long time, actually 2 marked it. Nowadays not much fun as the "newer' tier 10s just destroy it, and too many "old time" favorite tanks.
one of my fav vehciles many, many years ago. It always bugged the shit out of me you couldnt make it go faster. They should have removed the "cant use speedometer" and made it accelerate abit faster and go abit faster and nothing else would have been required.
I knew it was kinda bad but I liked it visually and also how fast it is. However, as the Skoda t56 came in and the mm was full with it I ended rageselling it.
I actually quite enjoyed this tank. Did I do well? No, but I loved it anyway and I made quite solid use of it. There two reasons I got rid of it, one was creds, If I wanted to even get close to buying the next tank up I had to sell the previous, 2 around this time is when tanks like the defender started coming out. It simply got to the point I couldn't do anything and when the tiger 2 got buffed but the vk got nothing that was the nail in the coffin. Sadly most of my tanks have now suffered it's fate and is simply too ineffective to do much now most of the time. Can only do so much against the gold spam driven power creep, worsening rng mechanics and cheating no matter how subtle or blatant.
the amount of t8 premiums is already toxic af, knowing tech tree tanks when moving up having to research majority of everything again and most likely stuck with a gun that should not belong in the tier makes grinding so much harder.
Oddly, this tank and its tier 9, still ok to me to the point of love. Grind the line few years ago when Pz 7 is ToTT and let out a huge sigh when playing Pz 7, so underwhelming..... it's ok but i cannot love it. Gethering dust in garage 😂 Still playing vk 45 b time to time.
VK45.02A, for me, was terrible not for mobility, but for the gun.. it's the same of tiger I. Very good for a tier 7 heavy tank, but terrible on a tier 8 tank that can go against tier 10
I haven't played this game in 3 years since recently and I fear that I will stop enjoying it again for all the same reasons as before. The one thing I ridicule WG to do is, if they want to make a tank with garbage stats, they can still make their way up the tech tree just as easy as good tanks. The only way I can see this happening is decreasing the amount experience needed to get the top modules. The only thing I find enjoyment in, is progressing through the tech trees and finding new fun playing styles. I find myself constantly spending money to get free experience for every terrible module in between the top few. I don't ask for much, normalize the bad and good modules, and make it easy to get the top gun(s). I've never spent more money on a game that I try to enjoy playing. WG always stonks.
Actually... I never understood of why players had such a bad experience in this Tank. Yeah it sucked a bit as stock but once it had all the goodies, it was a real fun to play. At least for me. WG did the Outlining right !!! You just missing to see the second dirt pile, right infront of the enemy Tank ! That is the one the outline shows and you only have to use your set of Eyes and Brain combined to use it.
Its suck before? wut? Bro. its my favorite tank when I still have my old account with Maus as it can be played as a heavy "medium" tank and its gun is accurate as hell
I really dont understand why QB is so adamant about WG overbuffing the turtle. Is it a meta t8? I think so, but its abysmal in +1 or +2 and its far from OP even with just t8s. Its still slow, average pen, lower alpha than other assault td/heavies. I just dont get his constant gripe with the Turtle.
I like how the VK A looks non-threatening, that can give you an edge in battle when fighting uninformed opponents
Quickybaby didn't even notice that he bounced of the turret of the KV-3 and penned BZ-58 who was behind the building 😂 Rewind the video to 12:01 😁
Oh wow hahah I actually didn't notice that either just thought it was the kv3 he damaged XD
That BZ must have been like what is this bullshit xD
nice spot I saw that too but didnt process what actually happened
I honestly didn’t have a problem when I grinded up that tech tree 5 years ago now. I’m still a little salty how underwhelming the tier ten is … 😂

HOWEVER! The tier 9 of this line? Now THAT was a piece of shit, right there! So freakin’…I don’t know…”outdated” when I played it half a year ago. The T10 made up for it, sorta.
That's how I learn't to play it, that and angling the front plates well.
@@robertlocock5636 Exactly. The front stuck out just enough were you can “fake out” your opponent in coming around the corner, then they take the shot, bounce on the front plate, and you come around to take the shot.
The problem is that open spot just above that cog when your angling around the corner.
I actually liked the VK A when I first got it and played through it…the buff is welcome. But the TIER 9 NEEDS HELP!
Years ago, I wanted to grind to this one, but as a mediocre player, I never found the time. I don't really have garage slots now, didn't then either.
I actually liked the tank when i had it 4 years ago. It had troll armour
I personally never had too much problems with this tank back in the day. Sure, it wasn't overpowered, but it didn't feel underpowered, somewhat like a pre-speed buffed centurion 1. Sometimes, I thought about buying it back, and now that it has been buffed ...
I missed the 'in' in the title, thought they'd made WoT as fun as WT.
VK 45A has always been a great medium tank.
i cant agree... 200(top gun) pen is just shit in 8tier hewy..
Haven't actively played since 2015 but still watch YT and streams on it, always contemplating if I should return or not and endure the pain and horror once again.
no. just don't. it isn't worth it
If you're gonna use the premium ammo, you might as well use the premium consumables.
This tank feels like a medium tank, which is very nice for a HT
The tank is a joy now, both fun to play and not op, like all tanks should be
this tank is the best tier 8 heavy i have ever played. the armor just seems to work and the gun is absolutely wild. its the only tier 8 i have ever even concidered not selling after grinding up to next tier. btw how do you guys do this. do you put a fresh crew in the old tank and move the other one up to next tank or what? :)
Sorry WArGaming after you Introduced the BZ 76 I had enough of your BS and all the balancing in the world won't convince me to come back
When i was grinding up German tech tree there was only tiger 2 as t8 heavy😂
Was my favorite for a very long time, actually 2 marked it. Nowadays not much fun as the "newer' tier 10s just destroy it, and too many "old time" favorite tanks.
I thought you were about to say the king tiger then vk 4502 b when you talked about the old tech tree lol
one of my fav vehciles many, many years ago.
I never used the top gun. I like the L/71 88 a lot more on the A.
always like this tank but couldn't keep it because of the way it performed
Have u seen the shot that bounce on kv3 and shoot the Bz in last game? that was fun xD
i remember being the worst grind i have ever did back in the day....
It's so cool looking I finally have a reason to play it other than eye candy
This is one of my fav tanks xD even before de update
QB I just realized, the model was of the rocks infront of them and not the ones infront of you. If you go back you'll see what I'm saying.
the amount of t8 premiums is already toxic af, knowing tech tree tanks when moving up having to research majority of everything again and most likely stuck with a gun that should not belong in the tier makes grinding so much harder.
Still waiting for the day QB reports the MM doesn't suck anymore. ;)
I always feel bad for tier 6 and 7s when 8s get buffed..
one of my fav tank i have the 3rd mark and its a hiden jem
Oddly, this tank and its tier 9, still ok to me to the point of love.
Grind the line few years ago when Pz 7 is ToTT and let out a huge sigh when playing Pz 7, so underwhelming..... it's ok but i cannot love it.
Gethering dust in garage 😂
Still playing vk 45 b time to time.
Quack don't say this is how the line went. Bring it back to 2015.
The irony though that he has more gold rounds on the free to play account
Could we get a revisit of the tornvagn?
Like to see QB play some War thunder for shits and giggles😂
while watching thsi video i got full clipped by a tvp and a bz 75 in my vk 45.02a
I always loved that tank, never sold it
the problem is that it took WG almost 10 years to fix some of these crappy tanks that always sucked
Its suck before? wut?
Bro. its my favorite tank when I still have my old account with Maus as it can be played as a heavy "medium" tank and its gun is accurate as hell
i feel they realy shoud have buffed the ammo types whit better penetration. .
wonder when the Mauerbrecher will be valid to play...
BTW, I can't say "thank you" by pressing B, and command wheel feels to combersome to use.
