I've just bought my first Unmatched game and it's Battle of Legends vol. 2 and I'm overwhelmed and don't know how to play, got very confused with "Master of the hunt" not realising that it should be played as second action lol. All in all very good breakdown of the cards. Keep up with awesome videos.

Hi zeroskatr, super-great content as always! My questions: I really like Alice and I think, if used properly, can be a great tournament pick, despite what the tier lists would suggest. What do think? In particular, I think she could have a good match-up against Yennenga (I have not tested it yet), do you agree?
Thank you! I really like Alice as well. One of my favorites. She can do decently against most fighters. The reason she is not commonly seen in tournament is that she is a bit inconsistent with her size changes and many unique cards, and also there are often specific fighters for specific matchups that do better. Alice's strength is that she is quite well-rounded in terms of matchup spread and has a chance against most fighters if played well. So she is much more viable in a tournament format like Arsenal than she would be in Conquest. Overall I think she does better into Yennenga than most, and I have tested that one out myself!
Awesome review mate. I have a question regarding after effects: if the defenders after effect is that they can move out of range after the attack, will the attackers (melee) after effect still give damage, even though they are melee and not adjacent to the defender? For example why do you say that bloody Mary’s broken glass gives damage even though the defender (Alice) moves away, but Yennengas point blank can be counted if the opponents after effect is a move?
Thank you! Certain effects only deal the damage if the fighter is adjacent. This is specified on the card. Broken Glass just checks to see if the values match, while point blank says damage the adjacent fighter. Hopefully this answers your question!
Thank you! And no, Stallion can only do 1 damage to each fighter. The card says to move her up to 5 and then deal 1 damage to each enemy moved through. It doesn't say to deal a damage each time you move through an enemy.
Yes they are all very interesting and quite complex. It should be going up for sale online within a week and may be shipped in time for the holidays! 🤞
Hey Zero, question in regards to advantage (+1) with the new map. Let’s say Yennenga is in that central 3 zone spot and Achilles is in the 2 zone space that is water and the yellowish “brick”. There are 2 +1s on the way to his space… does Yennenga get +2, +1, or no bonus? Each one makes sense.
High Ground advantage is only for attacking into the space directly adjacent by following the arrow. So if Achilles is 2 spaces away from Yennenga then she won't get any attack buff.
I just ordered this set as my first Unmatched set, and all of the characters just seem so fun. Yennenga seems comparable to what I’ve seen people say about Medusa, though I’ve heard a lot of the characters in this set are also strangely vulnerable to King Arthur, whom I’m told is one of the worst? That’s just such a cool design element. Breathing life into old sets while expanding on concepts in the new. What Two-Character set would you recommend as a good experience to pair with this one? (I want them all but that’ll take me a bit haha!)
They are all very fun! Yennenga is my unexpected favorite. And yes Arthur does decently well against this set. As for 2-packs, I think I would recommend Little Red v Beowulf. Mary vs either is very interesting. Red vs Wukong is another great one that can go either way, same with Red vs Yennenga. I haven't tried it yet but Achilles vs Beowulf seems like a great battle of the brawlers. In addition to having a handful of great potential matchups, LR v Beo is similar on the complexity level. So if you enjoy the fighters in BoL2 you will probably enjoy that one as well. (Not that all the sets aren't enjoyable, because they are! 😁)
If you're wanting to pick up all of the sets eventually, I'd probably prioritize the Jurassic Park set while it's available at retail. Because it's an IP it's about to stop being printed, and won't be available in future. Plus both characters are really unique and a blast to play with!
Hey! Nice deck review, such as the previous ones. I like how you put your thoughts into different scenarios for each cards. Now that we've seen all the upcoming characters It would be really nice to see maybe a sidekick tier list based on how good or bad they synergize with the heroes? I would like to hear your opinion on that one.
Thanks for watching! A Sidekick tier list would be a fun and silly video. Sadly my favorite fighters wouldn't even be included as they are solo fighters 😆 (Jekyll and Invisible Man)
Hey Zero, got another one for you. I played following the tournament rules with a friend and it was really fun! We did the picks and bans, but after the first round we weren’t sure how to proceed. I won the first round. The way we did the 2nd round was my friend got to choose his hero and the map, then I chose mine at random (we had 4 hero picks and 1 ban). Is that right? I tried following the pdf as well as I could. Also, we didn’t do the mulligan. In your opinion, should you always play with a mulligan? I feel like that makes some characters that need that one card in their decks overpowered like Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Hey glad you had fun! So for Conquest format it's usually a best of 3. You each pick 3 and ban 1, leaving you with 2 and you need to win with both to win the match. Can't choose to replay a fighter or map you won with. We did a pick 4 ban 1 in the grand finals of Summer of Legends to make a best of 5. But then we did blind picks for fighters each game, no random. But then the loser of the previous game would get to choose map and starting position after seeing the matchup. As for Mulligan that is completely up to you. We use it for tournament to help avoid situations where one player starts with no defense and is at a severe disadvantage right off the bat. I personally like to play with Mulligan when practicing because I want to simulate a real tournament game. But for casual it's really just player preference. It definitely can help fighters like Jekyll to find their key cards earlier. But I don't think it drastically increases their winrate.
Just because Yen has Stallion - she looks favorable against Medusa. Also she is able to "eat" Medusa auto damage with her archers. But obviously only many games will show
I think she does beat Sherlock and Medusa pretty well. I haven't tried her against Bigfoot yet but I think he would have the advantage because so many cancels and big defenses render her attack useless. And he can easily smash through archers and has more card draw. So I don't see her winning that one. My impression was that Yennenga might be the best fighter in the game. But I think that was an overreaction. Though I do think she is very good. Her lack of feints and card draw are her weaknesses and can be exploited by certain fighters.
I think Yen wants to survive for a long time until she can either run Trex out of resources completely, or until she can unleash a huge combo turn and finish off the remaining Trex health. Since the Trex will use a lot of self-damage, Yen can often burst her down from 12-15 health with the right cards in hand. It's a decent matchup for Yen.
I believe it is actually up for ordering on the Restoration Games website now! Marvel sets won't be released until next year sometime in the spring. Thanks for watching!
Another question in regard to the new bonus attack mechanism. Play goes like this right: Attack is played normally, defender defends normally, the defense card and top/initial attack are resolved, then the defender has the choice to play another card against the bonus attack, the 2nd battle is resolved normally as well. The benefit to the defender is that your effect is guaranteed to happen. With the obvious con being that you’ve had to play 2 cards to their one card. That’s correct right?
That's exactly right! They're very powerful but can backfire in certain situations. Cards like Alice's Looking Glass that you don't want cancelled could just be saved for the second part of a bonus attack. Or cards that have powerful effects based on winning the combat (like Jekyll's distracted triage) can be guaranteed to trigger since you already see the attack value face-up before making your defense choice.
What are the tournament mulligan rules? Do you have to take or ditch your whole hand? Or do you get to keep 1-4 cards? Do you shuffle your first hand into the deck before you draw again?
@@davidcoblentz4624 I would recommend it. It doesn't change the actual game once you start. Just takes away the bad games where one player just draws a terrible starting hand with no defense for example. And cool, Invisible Man is so fun! Though I think you either love him or hate him haha 😄
@@davidcoblentz4624 Most definitely the new map will be in rotation! We will likely have all new maps added, though we may need to increase the number of map bans at some point. Or come up with a new method of doing map choice.
If the archers are in Yennenga's zone when she gets hit by the counterpunch, then yes. Any instance of damage, regardless of the source, can be spread out to the archers as you please if they are in your zone when the damage occurs.
Am I right in saying if Yennenga doesn't have any defeated archers when she plays Shield Formation, the opponent doesn't need to discard a card? In which case, Sheild Formation is significantly worse if you don't have any defeated allies yet
Yes you are correct. So of course if you have Shield in hand and plan to use it soon you should deflect the damage to fully kill an archer if possible. I have had situations where I had to use Shield as a blank 3 at it feels really bad haha
Also the fact that half of them don't have feints (and Mary only has 2) will further help Sinbad. I definitely think he is quite a good counter against them, though I haven't tested it much.
@@zeroskatr12 I'm definitely going to want to try him against them all! Achilles might be the one he has the toughest time against, since he doesn't have any discard strategies and his late-game buffs are permanent. Course, both have high card draw, so the exhaustion game could come pretty quick.
