      @dab7963 7 месяцев назад

      @@FabrizioNigro-o8c insert a fire wire card which are cheap about 30 bucks into your computer connect the Canopus to the firewire card and then open Adobe premiere and there is an option to use a capture device which will enable you to capture the video. Edius version 9 of their software also has this ability. I should also add that the current version of Adobe premiere does not work You need to get the version just before the latest one as both the current version of EDIUS and Adobe premiere have removed the capture feature.

    Thanks for the video. One small point the video connection used by the Canopus is not "component" (which uses 3 signals for video) but it is "composite" (which uses 1 signal).

      What kind of quality are you getting? Mine isn’t as good as other examples I have seen. My setup is simple VHS player/8mm Camcorder-Advc110 - MacBook - IMovie. I can’t really change any settings on iMovie so I’m assuming this might be why I’m getting the quality issue

      Will it still record the DV tapes that have timecode glitches and will it create a new timecode and continue recording? Other devices stop recording every time there is a timecode glitch. Also I have firewire adapters on my new apple studio mac. Will it work on it?

    I think I saw that same PCI Express card in another video, can you send me the link where you bought it please? :) And can I capture from the ADVC-110 with that card in Windows 10? I don't know much about the subject and I don't speak English either, so I'm sorry if you already answered this question in the video, I hope you can help me, thank you.

      I’m not quite sure, I currently do not still have the device. All I know is that the FireWire cable used was a 1 x IEEE 1394 FireWire cable (6-pin - 6-pin)

    Hi. Any idea if this will still work if rather than having 6 pin to 6 pin fire wire you have 6pin to 9 pin? I have an older MacBook Pro which had 9pin input so would it work?

      Honestly I’m not exactly sure, doing some research it should work if adapted to a 9 pin but looking through forums it seems that it is hit and miss with this product on a MacBook.

    If my sony Handycam has a firewire output, could I just plug the firewire directly from the camera to the computer, skip the capture device? Just use software on thr PC to record like VirtualDub?

    • @craftcustomcomputers
      @craftcustomcomputers  Год назад +1

      Yes you should be able to plug it in directly and use and recording software. And possibly just use the camera app on the computer and use the Handycam as the input device

    • @DoubleMonoLR
      @DoubleMonoLR Год назад

      I'd recommend using WinDV to copy video from the camera. It's free software that's been around since DV was current. If it works(it should, in basically any OS) it's simple and reliable. It seems it may also split files where recording started/stopped on the tape, so would automatically split recordings.

    Why does your computer have to be running an older version of Windows? Thanks.

    • @craftcustomcomputers
      @craftcustomcomputers  Год назад

      Great question, the explanation is the Canopus ADVC 110 does not have the correct drivers and programs to run with any newer versions of windows. So if the device tries to run on one of the newer versions the computer won’t be able to fully recognize the device and utilize it.

    • @lardass9012
      @lardass9012 Год назад +1

      You can run Canopus on Windows 10 and 11 it's just that some firewire cards don't work with those systems. Try a different firewire card. I went through that problem of the firewire drivers not being recognised and tried all the procedures I could find on the web without satisfaction. Then I tried a different firewire card and there were no issues windows 10 and 11 both work. I have four desktops all with firewire cards capable of working with 10 and 11. Hope this is of help to all who are struggling as I did.

      What firewire card are you running on Win11 and is compatible with the Canopus unit? I ordered one for $16 on ebay hopfully its works too but now youve got me concerned @@lardass9012

    • @DR-uc4bj
      @DR-uc4bj 7 месяцев назад

      It's doesn't, you just need a working firewire port. I use Adobe premiere to capture

    • @WillBueche
      @WillBueche Месяц назад

      Another reason why an older system is needed is that the video format outputted by the Canopus is ".dv", an old, retired video format that has little to no support on modern systems or modern applications. If you plan on editing your video or adjusting its colors in a modern application on a modern system, you will first need to convert the .dv files to a format that is nearly as high quality but still has some support, like .avi. (And later, after editing, you can export to any currently-popular format.)
      These Canopus devices work with Macs too by the way, but similarly, it needs to be an old Mac, like from 2011 and never updated beyond OS 10.11.

    why don`t you use a capture card instead of advc

    • @craftcustomcomputers
      @craftcustomcomputers  Год назад +1

      The customer was wanting to record commercials off VHS tapes and turn them digital and the advc presented the best quality of video and audio, we tried a couple different capture cards but they just did not turn out right.

      @@craftcustomcomputers I understand you, But you are using a 1394 capture card at the same time. Do you know the difference between converters and the cards

    • @craftcustomcomputers
      @craftcustomcomputers  Год назад +1

      We used the 1394 for the FireWire 6 pin port because that was the output cable for the advc. We probably could have used a capture card that had a straight up component input but we already had the advc and just needed the availability to connect it. And yes I know the difference between the two :) I just didn’t read your initial question right. I hope that answered it properly

      @@craftcustomcomputers THANK YOU BRO

    • @DoubleMonoLR
      @DoubleMonoLR Год назад +2

      @@NBAONDVD A firewire/1394 card isn't a capture card, it's a digital interface used to transfer data much like USB. It transfers the exact data sent from the Canopus card, or dv camcorder, etc. It was also used for a variety of other devices, such as external HDDs, audio interfaces, etc.
      You can likewise use many DV cameras with analog AV inputs, that support 'passthrough' of the digitized video in realtime to the firewire output, to convert VHS etc. It may not be quite as good as the best capture cards, but it's typically very good.
