Real question = Why it took so long.. . Still, Wano arc was like Endgame. Finally a conclusion to the Wano arc built up since Punk Hazard. It’s still a little lacklustre such as the LONG second half of Wano. Whereas Marineford was the Infinity War…
The reason toei able to consistently their animations. First they have sacrificed Whole Cake Island arc animations and Toei is literally largest anime studio in Japan meaning they have most animators and contacts through the industry
It's also a similar deal to Sunrise. Toei has A LOT of revenue streams that they don't necessarily need to make money off of the anime itself. Like, they get a lot of money from partnerships and sponsorships with electronic brands and car manufacturers not to mention food and produce. Look at Gundam, the reason why Sunrise can afford to make so many high quality animes and still traditionally animate mecha which is very rare nowadays in anime is because they get a lot of money from Gunpla kits. Well, not Sunrise directly but Bandai Namco who then throws money at Sunrise to produce Gundam shows.
It’s great and all but I swear this fucking anime started a trend that I fucking DESPISE which they always say “OMG THE ANIMATION WOW THE QUALITY” u can clearly tell they’re fairly new to watching anime I’m not gate keeping but like come on
I hope Dragon Ball does not come back until the One Piece anime is finished. The more talented individuals working on One Piece the better. Having another show swipe that talent away would be bad.
I'd say the inverse as well. Even if Dragonball comes back, but all the talent is on One Piece, then Dragonball will look disappointing in comparison despite being animated by the same company.

also maybe working conditions. Like how KyoAni and Ufotable treat their workers significantly better than the rest of the industry and put out bangers back to back as a result.
@@jklum7895 I'm not sure, I'd have to look into it. They may be good by Japan's standards, but death by overwork is literally a serious social issue over there. I recommend looking into that. A1 pictures has literally worked its animators to death in the past.
I wish they would take two weeks or maybe ten days to make the episodes instead. Just so that they can take away all the recaps of every damn episode and also all the filler moments. While it's hype when a new episode comes out and you've watched all before, it's really painful moving through Wano from the beginning since everything goes so slowly. It will lower the quality of the whole anime with the Wano arc in retrospect.
hmm anime quality is not money related its skill, talent, effort and time, though as a whole i think its money related, i mean without that much money they wont be able to keep up with the workload which is why they hire a lot of animators to release episode weekly🤔
One piece turned into DB Super essentially, that's what bothers me the most. It's not that the animation lacks polish and quality, it's the art direction lost it's way from what OP originally was, a romanticized and gritty adventure. Now we have characters essentially shooting colorful lasers out of their eyes and powering up like Goku. That really takes me out of the story
Not hating here but I really much prefer the old animation, the new animation is too flashy. All that aura crap is really getting on my nerves, makes me wonder if i'm watching dragonball. Just my opinion
Well they started doing weekly episodes back in the 90's when it was the norm and the entire marketing structure is now built on it. If Toei ever does decide to go seasonal I'd prefer it if they went the Dragonball Kai route and started essentially a second show from the beginning.
*You can say whatever you want, One piece animation still has A LOT of weak points..* First of all ... the consistency is AWFUL , you can have an incredible well animated scene just to be followed by a shity one where the caracters are not moving and their faces are NOT EVEN DRAW anyways , and I am talking about protagonist wich face is taking 30% of the screen not just an unnamed guy at the very back... But that is just one, there is a shit amount more of problems... for example , they just don't respect how the powers should be displayed and you can find a guy that doesn't even have name clashing with another unnamed and they have leaking black lightnings... somehow now all the punchs and cuts have millions and millions of beams and lights that DOESN'T HAVE ANY SENSE AT ALL! so when you watch Zoro making a big atack it just doesn't seems even strong... another one is that they keep adding stranger and stranger ways and styles of animation while swiching from scene to scene and the chapters ended looking everything but One Piece... Another one! they still stretching scenes to the infinite and repeating animations just to fill minutes, instead of maybe animate the cover stories at the begining of each cap... for me the worst is that Haki have his OWN way of being displayed and they keep fvcking it everysingle chapter..... I'm not saying that the animators are bad , I'm just saying that they ALL need to keep a minimun consistency to make the anime feel like an anime instead of a mix of 100 styles per chapter. I've been watching and reading OP for 23 years and I even prefer the old style animation like in Marineford than this, at least in that time the things that Oda said and his style where respected..
I'll explain it: it'll end after Wano and go back to being shit like it was before Wano. The only reason the animation of Wano is so good is because it represents the country of Japan. The Japanese are nationalistic like that. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
Once again, I differ from the general consensus. Yes, the quality is better but the art direction is worse. Recent fights look and feel like modern Dragon Ball or KImetsu no Yaiba, meaning you don't see much happening. It is just a bunch of colors and a speedy impression but a little realism. Take a look at Zoro vs. King, It is so pretty but the base of it, meaning, that there are two swordfighters clashing swords is not there. There are too many colors, and impressionist representations of Haki but little of what's actually taking place, the clash of two men with swords.
Agree, the storytelling and sense of location is loss in all the flashyness, I'd prefer to see an actual fight with clear moves not fireworks or chasing beams across endless plains, not once I've felt that One Piece needs to animate like DBZ while reading the manga, not to mention the abuse of closeups and the murdering of pacing by overextending every punch like it's the final Punch of a fight only to make every manga chapter last for at least 10 episodes. One Piece deserved better animation but this ain't it for me.
Bro here bitching about the anime. Have you read the effin manga. The new chapters are drawn so poorly. Like oda is doodling especially chapter 1093. People like you will never be happy no matter what they do
Tldr: Japanese Nationalism forced the Studio to gloss up Wano (a Japanese culture inspired arc). One Piece is their most famous money maker (public face of Toei, even more perhaps than Dragonball). One Piece is huge in Japan. So the Japanese arc would force studio execs to spend more and get the best artists.
Unpopular opinion: Anyone besides me whos not a fan of this new animations? I mean it feels like they just want to put as much animation and color changes in a frame as possible until you cant even see whats going on anymore, especially the fight scenes, like the animators don't trust the viewers to recognize the might and power behind those punches if they don't animate the sh*t out of it. I´d love to have whole cake island animations back, or even water 7. those fights against katakuri or lucci are still top tier
Wano has better episodes than continuous animations man, this is unbelievable and on top of that we still get more greatness, thanks for the wonderful video
@@tempoaccla4041 yeah, I realllllly hope to god that once it gets to the end-game arcs they'll do one episode fortnightly instead, so we could have good animation + good pacing. That would be peak
It’s quite simple logic when you think about it. If you hire a lot of talented people and give them time to show their talent, they’ll give you something of quality. It’s like having a world class chef make a meal. You can’t just give them only 5 minutes, they probably need at least an hour or more.
Because they worked on episodes in blocks. Releasing them in seasons and during off screen they are behind the scenes working ever so hard to release the new episodes.
glad to finally put a name to the work behind the character designs for wano. There's a lot more vibrant colors used in general for the characters that really help them feel more alive, ESPECIALLY skin tone. It's really evident comparing the choices made for characters like Zoro during the Fishman Island adaptation (2012) and comparing it to now.
I'm so glad I got to watch the show weekly in wano. I don't know if I would have been nearly as invested in coming back every week with how the old animation was
I have exactly the opposite experience... can't tolerate how over the top and excessive vfx nonsense wano turned out to be... give me the old east blue style anyday
I and all the fans of one piece thank all these people who are working on the anime one piece has truly become a legendary anime and one of the most beautiful I have seen
Imagine how the whole wano arc will took like today if the animation style did not change and still look like the animation style before wano im sure it will look so so so very different
If One Piece's animation quality is better now, then why was Gear 5's first apearance so horrible? It was even worse than Naruto's "My pain is greater than yours."

The only reason the animation of Wano is so good is because it represents the country of Japan. The Japanese are nationalistic like that. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
crazy one piece looks way it does and boruto is traaaash except for one episode every 2 to 3 months
this did not explain anything. you just read the wano arc's castings from Wikipedia...
its just too oversaturated
Yet, they draw him in the middle of a punch for 3 whole episodes.
Because that's how the manga went about it😂.
so the answer is budget. hiring better staff and giving them more time costs more money. it's a budget thing.
People like you will never be happy no matter what they do
And the pacing still sucks
Bleach tybw arc destroyed wano animation
Not even close lol
Rise? I consider it is fall too much useless animation, auras . I like the old animation
Still the worst shonen anime of of all time.
Have you watched or read it?
minecraft is the worst manga of all time

@@josephrarn3174 he's probably a narutotard
We know u want attention, here's one comment as a sign of attention
I´d love to have whole cake island animations back, or even water 7. those fights against katakuri or lucci are still top tier
they were
Wano has better episodes than continuous animations man, this is unbelievable and on top of that we still get more greatness, thanks for the wonderful video
still has pretty terrible pacing most of the time
@@tempoaccla4041 yeah, I realllllly hope to god that once it gets to the end-game arcs they'll do one episode fortnightly instead, so we could have good animation + good pacing. That would be peak
@@tempoaccla4041 They'll remake Onepiece one day to fix pacing and other problems. Long running anime TV show problems.
@@tempoaccla4041debatable
Dressrosa animation is better.
I just got to wano the other day and it's so good seeing the series having such a good consistent art and animation
Oh shit, did you get to the part where they kill off Usopp yet?
Can't believe Ussop gets shot in the head...
@@somerandomguyontheinternettyeah mate his death was so painful to watch 😢😢
i miss usopp
Hey dont spoil the guy 😠
It’s quite simple logic when you think about it. If you hire a lot of talented people and give them time to show their talent, they’ll give you something of quality.
It’s like having a world class chef make a meal. You can’t just give them only 5 minutes, they probably need at least an hour or more.
And One Piece is a prime example of that
one piece fans are eating good
From childhood until now I’ve never understood how one episode can take over half a year to make and yet we get episodes every single week.
It's really evident comparing the choices made for characters like Zoro during the Fishman Island adaptation (2012) and comparing it to now.
great work! need a video about tanaka asap after next week cinema
That one is a must
2:30 Scene here is from episode 1017
I'm so glad I got to watch the show weekly in wano. I don't know if I would have been nearly as invested in coming back every week with how the old animation was
I have exactly the opposite experience... can't tolerate how over the top and excessive vfx nonsense wano turned out to be... give me the old east blue style anyday
@@zaftnotameni I'd choose the old east blue style too..just not the toei computer style they used from water 7 to whole cake island
@@zaftnotameniyeah man. Half the time those effects take up like 60% of the screen and I will have no idea what's going on
I and all the fans of one piece thank all these people who are working on the anime one piece has truly become a legendary anime and one of the most beautiful I have seen
I really hope they go back some day and reanimate through dressarosa.
Glad more people are realizing that an Anime's Budget is not what completely defines a series of quality.
Imagine how the whole wano arc will took like today if the animation style did not change and still look like the animation style before wano im sure it will look so so so very different
If One Piece's animation quality is better now, then why was Gear 5's first apearance so horrible?
It was even worse than Naruto's "My pain is greater than yours."
the quality dide RISE?? what?
besides of the new outro everything looks like 1999
I’m forever immortalized in a Jason Klum-sama video, thank you…
Disagree with the notion that budget has nothing to do with it, time is money, and hiring and training talented individuals is costly.
Sure like you said the most important thing is time and talent, but those things don't come cheap.
