The speech referencing and alluding to real world-shaking conflicts makes it unnecessary to show the exact details because it essentially "legitimizes" the 40-Day Wasteland War, and by proxy this new world that has emerged from the ashes, as the latter has achieved "stability borne from a world of chaos" to support a new normal of histories and politics, and this war represents a pivotal point in that history that will equal the ones we know. It also legitimizes both the Immortan's "government" in-universe, and the Fury Road era of the franchise outside it, as the time of roving "hunter/gatherer" raiders like Humungous and Dementus is supplanted by the rebirth of (relative) civilization.
I’m assuming they counted the beginning of hostilities as the start of the “40” days. As in the War started the day Dementus demanded a meeting when he was actually moving to war. Then the fall of Bullet town, and then the final battle in the desert.
Funny how the first time I watched the movie, I thought the man-eater was just building a war-map. But actually it's more of a war ritual. Like trying to put a curse on the enemy. The guy is supposed to be some kind of accountant, a rational man, and he's like "reject modernity, go back to magic!"
I saw it as a war map The stick shift knob with the Immortan’s brand = Immortan’s convoy flanking Dementus The bullet = Bullet Farmer in the Peacemaker leading his armada The harpoon = Scrotus’ and Rictus’ war party Dementus is getting flanked and pincered and The People Eater pouring sand on the teddy representing Dementus to symbolize that he’s about to be buried
@@servo-skullscudsworth Yes I totally agree on what the items stand for. It definitively is used to record where each protagonist is. I suppose the imperators with the telescopes are here to inform the man-eater in real-time so the pieces are moved accordingly. And they communicate with the troops via colour flares. But it still look very simple compared to what older battle maps (decades or centuries ago) could look like (just another symptom of humanity's downfall?). This is why I first thought its purpose was less strategic and more "as a matter of form". Maybe pouring sand on the symbolic target is like blowing on your dice before rolling them: a common practice in game, but not something you would expect from military high command (though soldiers are known to be superstitious and to keep lucky charms) Another nice detail is the nature of the table: a billard table. A game of skill where, the smarter you are, the less room you leave to luck.
@@montyburnzYeah, Dementus called the meeting of the warlords to have them all at the Citadel so he could capture Bullet Farm and was hoping to draw the Triumvirate (The Immortan/Bullet Farmer/People Eater) to Gastown and then use the ammo/grappling hooks/ladders from the Bullet Farm to take the undefended Citadel
I imagine dementus quickly found his war party rebuffed at the citadel, being surrounded by 3 different war parties. But there's a lot of open ground, with little cover, so dementus would be able to see the closing trap. I imagine 39 days was basically dementus doing a big ring-around-the-rosy getting whittled down in the wasteland while immortan joe sent strike parties to retake and secure gas town and bullet farm. That said, we don't know how long it took Furiosa to find and kill Dementus. So the actual battle might have been a day long affair, with Furiosa taking 39 days to track him down and kill him.
Dementus has gastown and bullet farm so war doesn’t finish too early Dementus did not take the fortress in the first wave of attack how did they retreat But Dementus they don’t have food …..maybe a little bit so they have to adopt blitzkrieg
Most times you would say why couldn’t we have seen the battle.
But this scene was done so perfectly, it doesn’t matter.
So well done.

Is this a reuse footage from the delete scene or is actually the same guy who play him?
0:26 I noticed a caltrop car, 2 cranky franks, the peacemaker, the monster truck, and some other cars from the fury road made a return
There is only one Cranky Frank, but the other one looks very similar. There’s a whole story behind that one.

Hands down the most badass scene just wish there we could see more of the 40-Day Wasteland War

The People Eater*
@@servo-skullscudsworth Bullet Farm was over run by Dementus. Was Bullet Farmer at the Citadel for the Warlord meeting?

40 days wasteland war?? Maybe from when Dementus arrived and he started attacking, because I highly doubt that THIS battle took 40 days to end.
