Great advice from Coops. Multi sport is key to stop the youngsters from getting fixated. I always recommend badminton to my keepers as lots of lateral and linear movements, bending, lunging & reaching. Ideal movements for goalkeepers. Great content as always 👏🏼
Hi, from my experience as a full-time GK Coach, I see the biggest problem is that goalkeepers punch balls a lot due to a bad habit or from making a "camera save". But most balls are easy to catch. For me, both should be trained - catch and parry and let the goalkeeper face a lot of shots from different angles, distances, in different situations, etc. as part of training, so that they build confidence in their decision-making. At the end of the day, it's always about stopping the shot, so parrying is OK, but there should be some compromise between catch and parry. BUT it always depends on the type of situation and the goalkeeper's decision.
We always train with the mindset of catch it but in a game situation there is more at stake you don’t really wanna risk it so you choose to parry at a good area.
I would say when u are training always try and catch even if it does not work because it is training not a game training is to experemint and to work so i would say try and catch
@@ant8953 yh tbf I was literally thinking of Tomas holy he’s a free agent rn but will probably sign for a Czech club. I just find the mobility of keepers over 2m tall incredible.
Would prefer to train my GK's in parry over catch in them situations but we just dont get the amount of balls to do it, wed spend too much time chasing balls😂😂
i was trained to catch and say train to catch but parrying s ball is always necisarry cause if u try to catch it and jus drop it instead of a parry, then thats just an easy goal
