Question, I have noticed on their facebook page that a lot of people have given them negative reviews by saying things against lecturers and staff. How can I find out more about that, their website isn't really that helpful in terms of information.

I’m a graduate of the Electrical and Engineering: Automation and Instrumentation diploma program at BCIT back in 2019. In terms of school life this video is right on the dot. Pretty much you need to sacrifice your social life due to the intensity of the program. Each semesters there are 6-7 courses and 4 of those courses have labs. My first semester really broke me down mentally and physically, I have to study/ do lab preps/homework/reports which takes me until 1-3am in the morning and wake up very early to go back to school my average sleep back then was 3-4 hours haha, then work on the weekends to pay for my tuition, but with the help of my family and also lessening my workload per semester I was able to continue and finish the program. I would say BCIT may even be considered as a prison for students but the learning they teach is really worth it especially once you start your job. If you survive BCIT, you can face anything in life haha. I’m not saying this to scare you from taking the program, this is just based on my experience. If you ever do pursue ECET, good luck and God bless! #ProudBCITAlumni!
Why are you taking that many credits in a single semester? To finish sooner, I guess. But, are all the programs like that or you chose to study 9 courses at a time? I'm checking out the programs in case my teenage kids attend BCIT, but I've read each semester consists of 5 courses per semester in a full time scheme. So, why taking 9?
Hey there :) I'm taking 9 courses in a single semester because BCIT doesn't let you choose your courses; only your program (see 1:52 in the video for details). The amount of courses per semester varies from program to program. There may very well likely be programs that consist of 5 courses per semester, but that is an unusually low number. Seven or eight is more common.
Hey, I am a post graduated geologist from India. I would like to do a diploma in mining technology at BCIT in 2022. Could you please tell me about that program? Please reply.
I can recommend the Honda program if you want a quick job to get to work on your red seal. Almost all my classmates who showed any initiative (including myself) got or was offered a job about half way through the program. Honda/Acura is easy too, almost no workload and the cars are ridiculously easy to work on. I basically stood on my phone all day.
No worries! I fully agree. It depends what you mean by "retake" the program. If you are referring to students who fail/drop out, you can probably expect anywhere from 15%-30% of students to fail/drop out of a program in a given year (in one extreme case, my friend's entire accounting class failed except for him, but this was an unusual case in the summer school program; check the "rate my prof" website before taking a stand-alone summer course in the future). We had some students who had dropped out the previous year rejoin us the following year. Some of my friends also retook courses during the summer to up their grades. Other people were stressed out in the first year and had to take a 1 year break before coming back and trying again. Retaking really varies from person to person, but I hope the percentages above help paint a good picture.
Hi Jesse, this is Laura from Mexico. Am planning to enroll to BCIT. my only concerns are the living costs as a international student in Burnaby. Any advice?
Hi Laura! Living costs can be expensive. An all-inclusive transit plan is included in your tuition fees, so don't be afraid to live a little bit further away from BCIT in order to save money on rent, as long as you are close to a bus stop or sky train station. I hope this helps!
Hey Selena, yes it is hard! But nursing is different than business, so the intensity may differ. I'd encourage you to look on reddit or go to an info session to have your question answered regarding nursing and keeping a part time job while at BCIT.
Hi I am an international student and I have to do part time job for my expenses so I before joining this programme can you please tell that can I manage it ?
People have successfully done part time job and BCIT at the same time, but it's very difficult, and most people have to quit their job halfway through if they are doing full time at BCIT. I recommend talking to a rep at BCIT and explaining your situation to them in order to get a thorough understanding of what you can expect with your program :) I hope this helps!
Hi Ishan! I'm no professional when it comes to BCIT. I might not know the answer to your questions, but the website should be able to answer them for you! check out: www.bcit.ca

Brother I am Abarar Vahora from India. I have just applied for a diploma course In food technology at BCIT. So, does students you get summer holidays at BCIT?. Length of holidays?. Secondly, as you said in this video the course time table is set by BCIT not by students, it is for all streams of study?. Starting time of BCIT is 8.30, what about it finishing time?. Brother please reply to me as I am eager to study in Canada.
Yes, you get summer holidays :) Summer vacation at BCIT is usually 3 months long, but it depends on the program you take so you should double check with your instructors. Your starting time and ending time of your courses are set by the faculty. Every program, and every semester is different. Some semesters I had class at 8:30am, and some days I had my first class at 10:30am. You can find timetables for courses in current and past semesters online :) I'd recommend contacting your instructors for the most accurate response regarding your program specific timetables.

@@jesse_ryan hey jesse I'm planning to take op man in fall 2021. How did you manage 9 courses in one semester? Any study tips, time management, resources etc?
@@RbkDude Hey RbkDude, great question! Here are some tips for managing 9 courses in 1 semester: 1. Putting homework off till later will ruin your semester. Always finish your homework assignments the moment you get them and you will stay on top of your course load. 2. If you struggle with procrastination (like me), surround yourself with classmates who are hard-working achievers, and you'll begin to develop their work ethic habits. 3. Take weekends off, it's good for your sanity. Assuming you want to sleep 8 hours each night, 16 hours per day is more than enough time to stay on top of all 9 of your courses simultaneously. One of the main reasons people struggle at BCIT is when they are unwilling to give up their time doing the things they used to do before BCIT, such as playing videogames, watching netflix, going out, etc. If you have the discipline to perform the 3 points I mentioned above, you'll be more than fine. I hope this helps :)

There must be something in Reddit, just search for BCIT and ask your questions there, lots of people there to answer you.. but from what I have heard and what I know, all programs, even "the easier ones" are still pretty hard; I did Graphic Design ("one of the easy ones") at BCIT, I had to put lots of time into it.. now I'm in CST, yeah. my ass is being handed to me everyday. but it's worth it. the amount of support you get at BCIT is amazing. no complaints (well, just the whole .. 6-9 courses thing, etc lmao) Also, definitely just read the program page on BCIT's website.. it will give you an idea of what it's like.. being full time and having a set to go through it together is one of the biggest perks, I think at least. meh. good luck. stay safe.
Intense program! Expect to have little to no life. That being said, all the accounting students I got the chance to spend time with were highly disciplined by the end, and knew what they were doing. If you allow the school to help you, your chances of getting a job after graduation are really high.

Assuming you know anyone in the Trades at BCIT.. is BCIT a reputable school for trades, or are there other schools in BC that are better?
Thank You
Very reputable! When you graduate you will know your trade, and have a 90%+ chance of getting a good job.
Is it the same story for media and business student. Does it depend on program of study?
As a graduate from media at BCIT as well, I and my fellow classmates can attest to the fact that media is just as difficult. You'll get a job, though.
Could someone suggest me good college in cabada where I can get global exposure ?
Hey buddy! Thanks for the informative video :P I’m planning to do a finance diploma this year at BCIT, how stringent is the coursework relatively?
Very stringent!
Hey ashwin, im planning to join September 2023 for finance diploma, can u answer my some questions plz
And could you please tell how many days do I need to attend bcit in a week
It depends on your program. But usually 5 days a week for full time courses.
Planning on going here for Nursing. Is it hard to keep a part time job when attending this school?
Hey Selena, yes it is hard! But nursing is different than business, so the intensity may differ. I'd encourage you to look on reddit or go to an info session to have your question answered regarding nursing and keeping a part time job while at BCIT.
Jesse Ryan Ok, thank you so much!
Hi, I'm Planning to go to BCIT for CST -(Game Development) , is CST worth in BCIT ?
Are you in BCIT???
Is there any undergraduation program in BCIT?
Can I manage a part-time job simultaneously if I go to BCIT?

Nine????? Are you not aloud to complete your courses beyond the first semester???? Why're you doing Nine???!

Yes, it is! You can find out about their aprt time options on their website :)

Hii Jesse.
Can you please help me with few information regarding BCIT?
I'm a high-school students from India.
Hi Ishan! I'm no professional when it comes to BCIT. I might not know the answer to your questions, but the website should be able to answer them for you! check out: www.bcit.ca
Hi Jesse!
I’m starting this September for the same program( operations management) at BCIT. How are the job opportunities once we graduate?
Hi Kushal! The job opportunities are plentiful if you work with the faculty to get connected to a job in your industry! The teachers are very willing to help you get a job :)
Hi kushal are you BCIT student??
Brother I am Abarar Vahora from India. I have just applied for a diploma course In food technology at BCIT. So, does students you get summer holidays at BCIT?. Length of holidays?. Secondly, as you said in this video the course time table is set by BCIT not by students, it is for all streams of study?. Starting time of BCIT is 8.30, what about it finishing time?. Brother please reply to me as I am eager to study in Canada.
Yes, you get summer holidays :)
Summer vacation at BCIT is usually 3 months long, but it depends on the program you take so you should double check with your instructors.
Your starting time and ending time of your courses are set by the faculty. Every program, and every semester is different. Some semesters I had class at 8:30am, and some days I had my first class at 10:30am. You can find timetables for courses in current and past semesters online :)
I'd recommend contacting your instructors for the most accurate response regarding your program specific timetables.
@@jesse_ryan Thanks brother, I have already completed my bachelor of Engineering in food technology, so am I able to do a diploma course in food technology at BCIT?. As a international I will do some part time jobs, so is it easy to get job nearby college or vancouver city?
@@abararvahora9019 It depends on whether or not BCIT recognizes the course you took and where you took it. You can find out more about whether or not BCIT recognizes your past course work by contacting faculty directly, or by going to their official website. Depending on what you are willing to do for work, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a job in Burnaby or the surrounding areas of BCIT :)
I hope this helps!
@@jesse_ryan yes brother it is very helpful information for me, what about the sports games at BCIT?. As I am very good at playing cricket, does bcit organise any cricket tournament?.
@@abararvahora9019 I'm not sure about that 🤔 I didn't get involved in sports during my time at school, because if you plan to work and go to school, you will have very little extra time in your life! But you can definitely check out the BCIT recreational centre online and see what services they have to offer to students there (all free of charge) :)
Do international student of BCIT get a work permit???
Hi Ahamad, I think you have to apply separately, but I'm not sure...
@@jesse_ryan oh thank and and do bcit an DLL ?
@@cadetahamadjubairabunayeem7935 Again, I'm not entirely sure, but you should be able to find out on their website here: www.bcit.ca
Wow! Tough schedules may lead great job placements! Now I can understand why employers want to hire BCIT graduates :)
Is there time to do a part time job as an international student
Hi Aswin, it really depends on your program. Most students will tell you it's possible, but not very enjoyable.
I was thinking of taking business information technology management :AI option.
I feel validated 😂
I'm glad to hear 😂😂
After getting an eng. Degree there. I'm pretty sure I lost 15 years off my life.
LOL!
Are all programs hard there? Even trades?
Yep! Although difficulty between courses vary, and difficulty between persons is subjective,

What are the fees for each term??
Hi Jess, thanks for sharing such a useful video. I am going to study in same program Business Operation Management this Sep. I have heard about the intense workload at BCIT and your video helped clarify it very well hehe. I'm wondering if I can have your contact to ask for some questions regarding to this program? Thank you very much!!
I'm glad that you've found this helpful! Happy to help :) What kind of questions can I answer for you?
@@jesse_ryan hey jesse I'm planning to take op man in fall 2021. How did you manage 9 courses in one semester? Any study tips, time management, resources etc?
@@RbkDude Hey RbkDude, great question!
Here are some tips for managing 9 courses in 1 semester:
@@jesse_ryan Thank you so much for your reply! Just curious: were you able to find a job right after grad and what is the hourly or salary range that opman grads receive after grad? Thanks again! I honestly wish you uploaded more vlogs haha
Hey, man. What a great way to present and describe your life at BCIT. I really enjoyed your video. Could you please tell me if the CISA program is good? I've been reading bad things about it on the internet, but most of them are outdated.
I just want to ask you about BCIT's academic misconduct policy.
They got a 6 page PDF on academic integrity you should be able to find online if you google "bcit academic misconduct". They usually go over the generalities of this topic on your first day of each new class. If you listen to the instructors, you should be just fine :)
Hi Jesse, kudos for a splendid video.
Curious about which program were you a part of.
Also, planning to study marketing/sales in the coming year. Can you help me connect with a few students from the same faculty?
Thank you, Nimisha! I did graphic design, and operations management.
I don't have direct contact with those in marketing sales in this coming year, but a great place you can go to find new student marketing connections is in the BCITMA! It's a club with a ton of great marketing students. You can find their site here:
www.bcitma.ca/
Wow you really replied, inspite of your busy schedule. I already know this link is going to be of great help to me, so thanks a ton. Good luck to you! Looking forward to you the next video...

Very well done video!
Thank you, Vasiliy!
nice video :P, do you know if the chemical and enviromental technology program is equally as hard?
Thanks mate. Unfortunately, I did not know this program existed until I read your comment! I'm afraid I'm unaware. What you can do though is go on the BCIT website where they list your program, and if they show more than 7 courses in a single semester, then yes, it will be equally as hard or harder than the program I talk about here.
6-9 courses thing, etc lmao)
Also, definitely just read the program page on BCIT's website.. it will give you an idea of what it's like.. being full time and having a set to go through it together is one of the biggest perks, I think at least. meh. good luck. stay safe.
new subscriber here, thoughts about the accounting program at BCIT?
Intense program! Expect to have little to no life. That being said, all the accounting students I got the chance to spend time with were highly disciplined by the end, and knew what they were doing. If you allow the school to help you, your chances of getting a job after graduation are really high.

If you want a higher % chance of getting a job when you leave BCIT, and you're willing to put in the work for your diploma, then yes, I'd say it's worth it because teachers are going to give you resources and opportunities to connect to good jobs in the industry once you graduate.
