Emmrose - Waiting for Nowhere (Original Song) | Amplified

Emmrose performs her original song “Waiting for Nowhere" in an exclusive live recording session in Brooklyn, NY.
Emmrose has been really inspired to write songs about where she lives, based on places she passes by every day by creating stories in her head that take place in her neighborhood. She lives in the Union Square area of NYC and was inspired to write a song that explicitly took place there. The song is all about getting ‘stood up' for a date, and while she admits she’s never been "stood up”, she really resonated with this concept. She identified with the loneliness and the whole idea of waiting for someone who won’t ever be coming to meet them.
Emmrose adds, "I really like the lyrics, I looked around union square the strand, and some street fairs but you’re nowhere since Union Square is such a vibrant area, and The Strand bookstore is my favorite place in the world, and I love walking around all the street markets there.
Visions of a perfect night It’s blinding waiting in the light you told me to meet me at half-past nine, didn’t show guess that’s alright. This line is way more plot-based, it gets into why the narrator is there at night and waiting for a date in union square. It’s like the scene in a painting by Edward Hopper.
Emmrose is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter currently attending college in NYC who has been performing and releasing music since the age of 14. Her debut EP Hopeless Romantics was released one week before New York City entered the covid lockdown of 2020, and with all of her shows cancelled, she decided to perform weekly live streams from her home where she connected with thousands of kids in the world who took refuge with her music. Two years later, she has released 15 singles and her EP Hopeless Romantics won Best Pop Album in the 2020 WAM Awards. In May of 2020 her single “The Grass Was Greener” was placed on two Spotify Editorial playlists, a surprising event due to the fact that the entire recording and production had been done remotely during the COVID lockdown in NYC, with Emmrose in her Manhattan bedroom and her producer Mike Abiuso working in his Brooklyn apartment. Emmrose is a Groover Obsessions Artist, signed to Secret Road Music services for sync licensing, and her single “Waitlisted” aired on MTV’s Teen Mom in November of 2021.
