You don't really realize how much is going on in this song until you notice how Geddy's bass and vocals and Alex's guitar parts are all stacked together in counterpoint. Then you get an appreciation for its architecture.
Really enjoying this journey down memory lane. Reminds me why I love this band. As you watch these live shows, pay attention to the theatrics. I saw them live many times, may seem trivial, but they always just put on a good SHOW: lighting, visuals, themes throughout each different tour. It's understated, but they always put on a solid, ENTERTAINING performance.
Rush definitely brings a lot of energy to the song live. To me the song has one of the most underrated Neil Peart fills on it. (The mostly snare fill coming out of the bridge).
Such a powerful guitar tone I love Alex on this. Live your ears felt like they were compressed 🤣 I love this song live so much its was full on NEC Birmingham went mad awesome cheers Justin
Take a break, it appears you're starting to burn out and be less enthusiastic. Enjoying your journey. I lived it, seeing Rush at the Tower Theater (Philly) in 1977. A farewell to Kings had just come out - opening band was Tom Petty. I never missed a Rush tour after that. Some of these songs I haven't heard in years. Thank you!
I discovered that seeing them consecutively on tour after tour, they would improve their versions live of older songs. Like on ‘A Show of Hands’ certain GUP and PW songs had a bit more ummph in areas of arrangements that are/were not present on studio or previous live performances. Always improving as they go forward, trademark of them that’s so awesome.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎹🎤
Wow... I haven't heard this version in literally decades! 🤯 It's interesting to me how they ultimately play the same parts as in the studio version but it all is soaked in way too much reverb, which makes me prefer the studio version much more, too. Also a bit strange that Geddy changed the melodies in exactly those bits that had stuck out to me in the studio version, just like in 'Red Sector A'.
Hey Justin. Out of curiosity, now that you’ve heard lots of Rush, what are your thoughts about them generally, as a band, the individual musicians, the sheer variety of music and as a live act? Inquiring minds like to know.

Legit one of my top 3 from this era of Rush.
better than the studio version
Thanks again Justin for another great reaction.

Totally agree. I was blown away by the show they put on. The only other band I ever seen put on that great of a show was Pink Floyd.
what can i say
best band ever
Great song. Solid melody and tempo and drive...
Took me decade to fully appreciate this album. I’m more of a 70’s Rush fan
A favourite from GUP, so good live. Great song, Rush delivers live like no other.
Good one!

Hits hard , big ambiance amd cutting sounds
This is my first rush bass line i learned, it's amazing and still i love it
Same here! 😀 And I'd learnt the verses slightly wrong at first 😅
That song 🔥
Gotta love GUP!🔥🎧

Between the Wheels Live
GUP was Rush's first album that didn't set me on fire but still has some good songs
❤ ❤... ❤

I don't like that version at all. Listen to the studio version.
I'm going through their entire discography from start to finish. I've heard the album.
