Cartoon Network died when they started airing TTG nonstop on the channel. Some may say it died in 2007 when they started airing live action, but the network was still alive during that time because they still had cartoons (more cartoons than live action), and all live action shows went away in 2013. The year 2009 was when the network started dying, but it gained it views back once Adventure Time first came out. I started watching Cartoon Network in 2013, which was a great year because even tho TTG first aired, there was more variety, and many shows aired more than TTG. Once they favored TTG over many other series, and those series getting cancelled in favor of TTG, that's when the network became known for only airing TTG. It's slowly recovering now with more variety, which I'm happy with, but people still recognize Cartoon Network today as only airing TTG which is sad. Christina Miller killed the network, and it'll never be the same.

For me as a teen watching TV on 08 it was the decline of CN, getting rid of CN city, changing it to Harharharsdays and Fred Dynamite, most of the 2000s cartoons were ending, they pushed for more live action. But they did recover and had good shows around 2010. But watching TV that time was so boring. The day it died? I'd say around now.

The way I see it, Cartoon Network got a potentially deadly illness in 2008 (during the CN Real era).
Said illness went into remission in 2010 (thanks to the breakout hits that were "Adventure Time", and "Regular Show").
Then said potentially deadly illness came back with a vengeance around late 2013-early 2014 (when "Teen Titans Go" was becoming Cartoon Network's equivalent to Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob Squarepants", and Christina Miller took over the network and started axing every show that wasn't an elementary school level of childish comedy; (or at least had a significant amount of said childish comedy in it)).
And finally the potentially deadly illness officially beacme terminal around late 2019-early 2020 (when Tom Ascheim took over the network, every cartoon that wasn't "Teen Titans Go" and "Craig of the Creek" was either being canceled outright (due to having a large or significant audience size that eschewed to ANYONE over age 11), or (in the case of >sigh< "Thundercats Roar") a stupidishly childish comedy that was already green-lit and too far into production under Miller's tenure, and Ascheim going all-in on the preschool demographic with the "Cartoonito" block.
And if you wanted to go further (as of this posting's date), Cartoon Network is currently in hospice (between the Warner Bros-Discovery merger, David Zazlov all but outright eliminating animation from the merged company's budget, and the closure of Cartoon Network Studios in early 2024.

It's just really been a rough time for them and I hope that they get back to that era where they were truly great back in the '90s and '00s and in the beginning of the 2010s and stuff like that, man! Whatever the kids in the 90s experience won't be the same as kids in 2024, people should appreciate that they had it good when they had the chance; the memories we had watching our favorite shows will live on in our hearts. In simple words, people should move on.
Another thing, we should stop blaming CN and blame David Z. for the decisions he is making for the network. I thought Christina Miller was bad, but she's an angel compared to David Z. At least she didn't cancel a bunch of projects left and right for the dumbest reasons. If you want CN to thrive again, then the community should step up and have their voices be heard.

Though a good majority of people who watched CN in the 2000s could say that CN truly "died" in 2008, I think we can all unanimously agree that It has came to a downward spiral once Christina Miller entered the scene in 2014 and has officially died once the WB-Discovery merger was formed.
If we truly think carefully about it, True under Stuart Snyder's administration a lot of the classic "cartoon cartoons" have came to an end during his early days and that a lot of the cartoons during the CN city era were being cancelled left, right and centered. But we can also come to agreement that during this time aswell there have been a lot of factors which made them cut corners (i.e. Writer's strike, etc.) But even so under Snyder came the rise of popularity of Canadian animation on the network, aswell as the continuation of Ben 10 and Generator Rex during the late 2000s.
Many could argue aswell that live action was "predominant" during this time, but even so, there was still variety and lets not also forget re-runs of older cartoons on its schedule compared to today and that the live action side of things also started to die out by 2013 (To be honest even with live action on the network it wasn't so bad, Destroy Build Destroy & DWWH paved way for early RUclips myth busters and Incredible crew also played a part for the cast's future careers.)
By the time 2010 hit under Snyder's administration, things were much better for CN. The big three: Regular Show, Adventure Time and Gumball helped revived the channel as a whole and lets not forget its iconic jingles and its 20th anniversary. Toonami was also back and better than ever and anime became a strong driving force for the network once again. Action was also highly demanded and predominant during this time aswell which changed a whole new perspective of CN as a network as a whole.
Under Christina Miller however...... It were to take the early mistakes of Snyder and just made it 100x worse.
TTG started to become the cash cow of CN, they loss the rights and acquisition to Pokemon aswell as alot of their classics such as Loony Toons and Tom and Jerry, and lets not forget her awful idea of rebranding Boomerang and making it a dumpster for modern cartoons. "Reboots" were worse and alot of the shows were pretty much "dumbed down" and "kid -friendly." The Dimensional era as a whole was a huge dumpster fire and CN as a whole under her adminitration was just overall garbage. She was also the one to change alot of show's format from 24mins to 11 to try to keep up with the pace of TTG. Did I also forget to mention that alot of the show creators/show runners under her administration were also filed for either SA or CP? Just recently the creator of Mighty Magiswords was filed for having over 400 pics of CP.
Its true that Snyder's mistakes of the past has crippled Cartoon Network as a whole during the 2000s, but to say that it Killed CN would be an understatement. Though i doubt many would read this comment I just thought i could share this thought with you all. Squadala yall!

They only want fame and admiration at the expense of the company and its reputation, not only in America but in the entire world
In any case, there is still hope for its strong return to produce dozens/hundreds of original shows annually, with both quality and quantity at the same time (provided that the number of shows produced annually exceeds the range between 50 and 300 shows), despite all the difficulties and crisis it is currently going through. The same thing applies to other animation companies, including Disney and Nickelodeon

I don’t think it’s fair to say Stuart Snyder was the “death” of CN. He has had some controversial decisions (CN Real, pre-mature cancellations), but he is also responsible for some of the biggest hits of the network as well. I’d say around 2015 with Christina Miller as president is when you see a focus pushed towards the mobile app, bad scheduling, an over reliance on TTG, and the general decline in cable that saw the “death” of the network.

  • @djstarkidmashups8536
    @djstarkidmashups8536 2 месяца назад +4

In all honesty, Cartoon Network started dying since 2014 and 2015. Besides Teen Titans GO!, 2013 was the last good year for CN, because we still had variety, we had MAD, Johnny Test, Grojband, Pokemon, etc. We even had Cartoon Planet. I don't get why people still are saying TTG killed the network when a death of a network doesn't rely on one terrible cartoon.
For example: A death of a network is like turning it's back on everything that made it great in the first place.
Christina Miller removed everything that was great about the network. She got rid of Cartoon Planet, she got rid of the 22-min format, she got rid of some shows, she got rid of the original Ben 10-type of properties, and she greenlit a lot of reboots that were disliked by the cartoon community. She was also trying to make Teen Titans GO! their SpongeBob SquarePants, when Teen Titans GO! was a Warner Bros. Animation cartoon, not a Cartoon Network original. Teen Titans GO! is not a reboot, it's actually a spin-off from a comic series. Teen Titans and Teen Titans GO! are both completely different shows. The haters are the reason why Teen Titans GO! is still running, because instead of ignoring the show, they often hate watch it. I used to love Teen Titans GO! from 2013-2017, however, once I got older, I started to realize how bad it was. Season 1 was the most tolerant season, while season 2-onwards became more braindead and brainrot. If it wasn't for Christina Miller, everything would've been fine and dandy. Teen Titans GO! is actually a show greenlit by Stuart Snyder, not Christina Miller.

    • @mugen_master335
      @mugen_master335 2 месяца назад

On the contrary of that aswell, there were speculations that snyder greenlit TTG mostly because he saw it as a one hit thing/spin-off rather than a reboot but then came Shitstaina Killer (Christina Miller) favoring the show and made it its cash cow just to make CN more "hip" and "kid-friendly"

I'd have to agree with Maxwell in that 2008 really was the end. It's not that the new cartoons weren't good (even by matter of taste), its that the network was flip-flopping new ideas to spice up the channel but ended up losing sight of what made CN special. CN REAL was a mistake. It wouldn't be wrong to have occasional live-action content, but for the network's namesake... it's about CARTOONS. And instead of funding new shows from their older veteran creators while supplying new talent, they essentially threw the baby out with the bathwater. The mistreatment of even their more underrated shows (including acquired Warner Bros. Animations) also didn't help. Then, 2014 happened... and all those mergers happened too.

    • @mugen_master335

Ok but there were also speculations that Jim samples was also going to aim CN to be a kids network rather than animation which is why he greenlit Out of Jimmy's head. Stuart just decided to take what Jim planned and cranked it up to 11 and cut corners due to the writers strike. Its a terrible mistake to say the least but its understandable why they would want to do so as during this time Live action was also starting to become popular on both Disney and Nickelodeon.
But to say it killed the network... I think not. It like having a kid who became the angsty wannabe cool kids but got over it later on in life.

I don’t know why people thinks CN is dead in 2008 although they bring good shows in years until somewhere in the late 2010s because of the reboots and those live action shows shouldn’t be on this channel, it should be on Nick or Disney instead cause they make live actions while CN only makes animations but it doesn’t mean that the network is going to shutdown because of the “dead” situation especially as now during the WBD/Zaslav era.

For me it's because it lost what made the network in the first place "cartoon". Live action had no business being on the channel.

I would think that cartoon Network died when they got rid of their action shows because after 2015 after getting rid of some many action shows, a lot of people walked away from it like nobody and basically after so many reboot series or based from original cartoon series who returned from action to comedy like I never liked Teen Titans go, and I really have issues with the Bakugan reboots by far and even the Ben 10 reboot really out of place. It just made me really hate reboot all the way the only good reboot that was ever good in cartoon Network was the ThunderCats 2011 series but they canceled that series. It was one of the first action series to be canceled after 2012 along with young Justice end eventually Ben 10 as well and eventually they would lose the right to air Star Wars after Disney bought the rights for them the shows I I barely watch Cartoon Network after 2013 and I barely watched the only good shows that were there were with Ninjago. All of the shows. I used to watch back before 2013 getting canceled and basically made me turned away and after 2015 I stopped watching Cartoon Network, the only thing I could ever watch on on the same channel as Cartoon Network was toonami cause I watch all the shows on every Saturday night. They brought back samurai Jack back in 2017. The only thing that was ever making me watch the channel was again was toonami Ceneric just gets worse and worse for me because it’s no longer the cartoon I used to watch with all the action shows gone and character development swift I’m saying Cartoon Network made its own demise

The channel "died" once the live-action era ended, and adventure time came around.
Flapjack and Secret Saturdays were good, but its peak was shows like Billy and Mandy and Kids Next Door.
Cartoon networks around the 90s seemed good, too.
Idk what will happen now, but hopefully, someone will get rid of the woke and get back to how it was before 2009.

Unpopular opinion but I think Adult Swim was partly responsible for Cartoon Network's downfall in the long run.
Almost every year, Adult Swim kept slowly taking over Cartoon Network's schedule coming on earlier and earlier. To the point it started airing 7pm while kids are still up.
Adult Swim really had no business being on the network in the first place.

CN died in 2019 when Gumball and We Bare Bears both ended. Teen Titans Go also did damage to the brand. At least CN still does put out bangers like Adventure Time Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake spin off series. I guess at this point Adventure Time is the only show that's carrying CN
