My default response to anyone claiming unusually slow sales or a "dead store" is always: "List more." How much? As much as possible. I believe once you are over maybe 1000 listings as long as you have your bases covered like good photos & detailed description etc, if you aren't seeing steady daily sales then it's time to look at a) your pricing and b) what type of goods you are selling, and consider changing categories or at least diversifying significantly. But also as Lindey said, if you're in a very low STR category like clothing you might need to hit 2k listings before you see steady sales. I posted this in another comment reply but I'd also advise calculating the STR of similar sellers and seeing how it compares to your store. If the average daily STR for someone in your category is 0.1%, then if you have 100 listings you should expect to sell approximately 1 item every 10 days. I find this helps to set realistic expectations for what I 'should' be selling for any given number of active listings in a particular category.
100 ebay listings of decent items is about a sale a day. 9K in my 1st 90 hoping do do the same this 90 at least (Average daily is 3)
PAID in BLOOD Hi, what’s your email, can you help me please
Hi, what’s your email, can you help me please
It really does matter what you sell. I have many items I am the only person on ebay selling. less than 20 items on that account and I get sales every single day. However my other accounts that sell in other categories didn't start reaching daily sales until 200-800 listings--mostly because of how many other people that have those items and are selling out below the market value. You need to have enough items that you can let them sit there until the market dries up. You have to choose your business model. Do you want to move items fast and make pennies(or liquidate your lower end inventory), or do you want to wait and make a fair profit.
Lots of great advice in this video! I see so many people in various reseller groups talking about how if an item doesn't sell within a month (or even a couple weeks) they start slashing prices every week until it does. If, or it hasn't by month 2 or so, they purge it from their store. They have zero patience and, really, no clue about the reality that MANY items simply do not sell quickly.
And reducing prices on long tail items generally does NOT make them sell faster; it only makes it so that when that one buyer does come along, they get it cheaper and the seller gets less money for it. Patience is key. Allow your items to sit until they sell and only purge them from your stofe in rare cases (not simply because it's been listed for 6 months).
Agreed--become familiar with the sell through rates of your primary categories. Find sellers who are selling similar products, and go to their sold listings. That's a 90 day look at what they've sold, so if you divide that by 90 you get average sales per day, and you can divide that number into their # of active listings to get an average daily sell through rate. Do this for a few sellers, then try it for your store and see how you compare. Clothing will be really low, like way less than 1%, maybe 0.1% or less. Meaning if you have 100 items listed, you should expect to sell 1 item every 10 days. PATIENCE.
OMG... 27 minutes of non stop, over the top and packed in information. Hitting me from all sides with plethora of helpful things to boost my sales and get my butt out of the chair and work. Thank you so much! Have another cup of coffee on me.
Oh my how you have helped this newbie reseller!! I countered three offers and list. Will now always accept most offers. Your info was so useful. Thanks!!😉🦋
I know this comment has NOTHING to do with THIS video, but Lindey YOU are a life saver!! I watched one of your old videos about how to attract buyers on Poshmark for 30 mins a day, I did that technique last night and made my first sale! Thank you!!!!! I’m commenting on this in hopes that you will see it, haha!!!
Yayyyy!!! That’s amazing!!! Keep it up! 💪🏼❤️
I’m a fairly new seller and I have been binge watching your videos. So I’m watching this one and as you’re explaining why to accept offers....I get an offer! I accept it. Then a few minutes later while I’m still watching the video.....I get a full price sale! If I didn’t know better I would think this was an on the job training video just for me!
YES!!!!! So happy to hear this! ❤️
Law of Attraction! Yay!
It's been a fun week for me of sourcing and listing. I just expanded to ebay reselling. I've run my own craft wedding business for 10 years and really like this more.
It’s a lot of fun!
I agree, when I accept an offer I get a few sales as well.
Ebay or reselling isn't my cup of tea but always do enjoy watching your videos. Your lovely personality got me lured into watching all of your videos. Learning is always a good thing!
Hi, so I did not list any items on eBay for about 3 weeks, but by just going on the eBay, and play with settings, change title around, I still getting one to two sales a day. Great point:)) just give some LOVE to eBay, and eBay will give some back.
The algorithm is mysterious but merciful.
Another excellent video! I have noticed though that when I do a search of my own items they do not come up in search. Even when I am searching for my listings by using words that are in my titles. Yet if I switch the words around in my search my listings show up. I don’t know if you or anyone else has had that experience but I have to think that I am more than likely not the only one. eBay’s search algorithm isn’t the best but of course it’s all we have.
Same here, except certain ones don't pull up for me, no matter HOW I word search my own keywords!
Elisabeth Robbins I have had that issue as well. When you have optimized your listings and they still don’t show up. Something seems a little fishy to me!
GeorgiaBound Yes! Me too. I never pop up on search. Have a very small closet and maybe that’s why. Hmmmmm, interesting
Omg! I was watching this video and at the same time you were talking about Best Offer, I sold an item that’s been sitting there for a month with Best Offer.....yay! Haha!! I love your videos, keep making them.
Thank-you! I list and go even though I try to list an item multiple times a week. Maybe that's the issue. Thank-you!
I was trying to sell on eBay but there were too many scams trying to scam me it was so annoying.
Your energy is SO motivating!!!
Wonderful, informative video! All of us new sellers certainly need all the help and advice we can get! Just got my 2nd sale after only having been on ebay for 5 days, woohoo!! This is how addiction starts LOL (always checking ebay for activity hahahah). Have an awesome day!
Wahoo!!!! 🤑
This resonates with me a lot. I've turned best offer on all my listings on one account to test this theory. I actually had a couple listings with best offer turned on due to piggybacking off another listing, anyway. Someone lowballed me on one listing, I hit back with a number in the middle, they declined, then within an hour I sold all 4 items on that listing to different people around the us. I thought it was a promoted thing but I didn't get a promoted fee.. ebay really is blocking my sales!!! How crazy is that?
I'm finding promoted listings are only effective if you are at the trending rate or better. Another tip is to find a product that is super hot at the moment and that 1 product has been helping my other items sell. I'm also finding out that shipping quickly ( I print labels morning and night) and getting them scanned, when you have multiple items brings more sales.
I don't agree with this, I think it totally depends on the item. I have been trying to sell cologne for almost a year, it's marked well below store price but won't sell. I put it close to 10% on promotion and that did nothing either. Other items I have I know will sell eventually but were kind of slow, and I only did 1% promotion to avoid losing too much money, and all my sales in the past few weeks have been from promotions for those items
P.s. I do agree with your other points, just was referring to the first thing you said 😁
@@curlygurlxo Very interesting. I guess it really depends on the item and catagory then. You know how if you are promoting 1-2% the impressions will drop off after a week? I tried trending rate and impressions stayed steady for over 40 days. When they dropped I restarted the campaign and didn't get a similar impression rate. It's like trying to solve a puzzle but you don't have all the pieces. The eBay algorithm is intentionally confusing.
You shouldn't have to use promoted listing to be able to sell on eBay, all sellers should be on a level playing field. eBay are hiding small seller's listings that's why we have no sales. I have sold on eBay since 2008 and have never ever seen sales as bad as they are now on eBay. I have always had 2, 3, or 4, sales a week, but since Item specific was brought in I get 0 sales, sellers left by the thousands here in the UK, these sellers are our buyers and they ain't coming back to eBay to buy anymore. eBay will be finished in the next year or so unless the management is changed
She can really be good English teacher . She talks clear , not too fast and on point .:))
I just got 2 sales this morning after listening to your video 😃
Lol! eBay is like a needy girlfriend! Totally agree!
She ain't lying.. I got over 1300 clothes items and I do 5 to 10 items a day... I'm already at $2k for March 2020 HAHA
josh posh That’s amazing! What I don’t understand is how the heck do you get thousands of items listed and still find time to sleep! Lol. May I ask if you sell multiples of same items and there’s really maybe 200-400items. Just find this amazing! Stephanie🌻
@@stephaniejoyce4427 I wrote that prior to the shutdown. I'm at 1422 items right now. I of course ramped up listing in the past few months.
Great video, and we use all of the strategies posted. Please keep the videos coming.
Enjoyed the video Lindey!
I completely agree, I accept almost every offer I get, unless of course its insulting. It does seem to get the ball rolling, so does dropping a listing that ait doing great and replacing it with at least 2 or 3 new ones, which is what seems to work for me. Why dont people like to negotiate on offers though? I love it but seems no one is competitive like that so I usually just accept, but I had some good negotiations with some cool people out there. Anyway , thanks for the vid
Thank you so much this helps me, will try to pay more attention to her
A lot of value in the video, thank you. As advised, the more listings the more sales.... Yet, there is no clear answer to "how do you get the first sale and increase your listing limit when you have only 10?"
Thanks for the video. I just thinking about making a video talking about 5 tips to help slow sales on ebay.
holy smokes, that energy. Very helpful video i almost never leave feedback to my buyers :c i will do it right now
Lots of good advice here.
I love your drive and your Passion
I love your natural makeup
Omg that comparison between eBay and a woman you need to pay attention to is SPOT ON! Great memorable way to phrase it so that it stick in one's mind! Totally agree about using the tools. If things slow down, I sell similar and relist some listings. Or, I run a 2 day sale. I have auto accept best offers set up and having something sell with best offer usually triggers a full price sale or two.
😂 thanks!
when you made an alternate ebay channel, did you make a video on the easiest way to do that?
Hey girl. Long time. Yes ebay slow sales is a def. Problem. In the middle of trying to start my own site and steer traffic that way.
Good positive content. Very informative.
Thank you very much!
Lindey, love the video as always and thanks for taking the time to provide such valuable information! How do you find the sell through rate in the different categories?
I’m on cup #4 or maybe #5! 😆 I check my expiring listings everyday and tweek pricing or end. I also go through the watcher list and send offers to buyers.
My biggest concern is, I still have a problem about what boxes to use...I only have priority mail boxes and have decided maybe I need to use them but, since everything isn't priority mail, can I cover them with the polybags? OR, do I need to go get new boxes in different sizes...my home is now looking like a hoarder lives here!!!
Love the big cup 🙂🙃
I relate to this so much and I only sale on posh and Mercari 😂
Those are awesome platforms too! But also very needy 🤣
is there any free " price tracking tool " that we can use to dropshipping on amazon or ebay ?
Good video, Thanks !
Hey i have been watching your videos and i was wondering, how do u keep your inventory organized, and find it when it sells?
Video coming soon on that :)
Awsome! Looking forward!
@@shmuelrabin4185 I look forward to Lindey's video on this topic, but RALLI ROOTS also has a few videos on their inventory management system. Basically it boils down to alphanumerically labeled bins or shelves (ie. A1), and each item in that bin/location somehow labeled as well (ie. 5 or 26), then in each listing in the Custom SKU the general bin/location is listed as well as the specific item number (ie. Bin A1, #5). When you bulk ship on eBay it will list in bold the Custom SKU both on the screen and in your generated 'pick list' which you can actually print out if you want. I use a similar system and find it very efficient.
@@BerniesBootlegs1 u
I use best offer on most if not all my items.
Loved your energy in this video . So funny!!
I know you are starting to stress now because you’re moving so I use hate to even bother you. I’ve been selling on Poshmark but recently started back up with eBay. My concern is if I offer free shipping but have been shying away from Offers because I felt paying for shipping plus accepting a lesser offer, would not give me enough return.... Am I thinking wrong ? I just love all of the info you have to share with us! Been concentrating on Poshmark videos, but will watch more of your EBay. Thank you and wishing you much success with your venture and your move. Hugs....Stephanie
Great one :) Thank you
I like your energy. Subscribed.
My husband sells high-end luxury items on eBay (albeit not enough) but he is always worried about going in and revising his listings too often. He's thinking buyers see that the listing has been revised so many times and there is something wrong with the item or something. So he will cancel a listing and start over if it has too many revisions. Is there any validity to this thought process?
I find that most people use best offer to see if they can get away with a lowball offer. If the market value dropped over time, they wouldn't bother sending an offer to someone if they could buy from x amount of others for the same price as what they're going to offer. People usually use best offer to get it even CHEAPER than the competition, not the same
I love your videos… I’ve been watching you I guess for the past several days years. You did hit a valuable point. I sell strictly clothing and shoes. You can make money however it’s all based on what you have posted. ... and one of the very important factors are (which city do you live in)? That could make you or break you If you’re living in a city or town that doesn’t necessarily have high end brands.. I’m lucky I live in a state where everything is plentiful.
( Whatever happened to Pittsburgh Mike)??
You are so smart...omg...This is my first time seeing you, utube algorithm somehow send this to me. WOW! You are amazing
Thank you for the motivation
New viewer here. Thanks for the great videos. Slowly getting in the reselling game. I'll definitely be back for tips and pointers.
What program or how do you determine then number of sellers selling a product? And how do u determine how many sales have occurred the past week on a product? Thanks for the help.
I just look on the eBay platform. Just search and item and check how many active listings there are and then filter the search by SOLD items to see how many sold. No software needed :)
Lindey Glenn thank you! Im still lost eBay platform? Do I need an eBay store for that? Maybe I need to have a training session. I will send an email. Thank you.
Great tips!!! I learn so so much from you... Thanks Bunches 🤗
Wow, thank u so much for the tips
Can you help me figure out why my eBay items are not selling? I am doing everything eBay suggests.
Love your videos ,your so informative and well spoken, so clear...I've been watching for some time now and love to hear other points of view.. preech it sista...lol cheerz
Very good tips thank you 💰💰 I love it.
You’re welcome and thank you!
25:50 pay ebay fees every other day? Confusing, what is that fee? annual fee? ebay fee is one off isnt it? Dont have to pay anything if items havent sold?
Do.yoi have a store ? What categories do you recommend?
“That needy girlfriend who’s always wanting you to tell her she’s pretty. Always wanting you to look her up and down and smile at her. Always wanting you to take her to dinner…” 🤣🤣🤣
Oh god I’m more like ebay than I thought…
Curious about your take on ebays request for white backgrounds. (i prefer yours fyi)
I have also noticed quite often that my promoted listings come up lower in search results than my same non-promoted listings. If I am paying extra to have my listings show up higher in the results it really makes you wonder if it is all just a scam for eBay to get a bigger cut. Any opinion?
I was put on violation for a week for a bogus reason. All my listings were supposed to be frozen, but yet I still was selling things every day but only promoted ones lol anything to give ebay some money
Love your videos. I learn so much.
Thank you Lindey! Soooo helpful, as always! 😄😍👍

There’s 80 characters in an eBay title 😉 lol. Great video!

Ya I can't sell something that takes months I usually forget where it is haha. If you go low enough it will sell. Over couple months I count it as my dead pile.

Thank You Lindey! All so true....Good old Cassini's algorithm.
Thank you for this! I have been busting my butt & pulling my hair out! But I haven't given up yet!! This was exactly what I needed to encourage me to keep going.... thank you! 😊
My sales been dropped to one sale a month several months ago. Checked prices, tweek listings and nothing. Listed a few more today and pics to list more tomorrow.
@@pamelaberry4520 How many listings and in what category?
When I was getting 4-6 sales a week I had only 30 listings. I would get 5 items listed and sell 4-6. I have 40 right now. I know it isn't many but more than I had before and getting less sales. It dropped off when eBay made their changes in Q4. I have items in variety of categories.
@@pamelaberry4520 You will see less fluctuations as your number of listings increase. IMO listing more is the #1 solution to 99% of common eBay problems.
How do you meet the 500 pixel picture. I cant resize it
I have been seeing results for promoted listings even if I choose under the trending rate. I would say about 30-40% of my sales are from promoted listings and I never go over 4%. (Most of my items are under $20 + shipping so it’s not a big chunk of $$)
Keep in mind that promoted rate applies to item cost, not shipping. So if you offer free shipping (roll shipping into the item price) you’ll be paying more for promoted.
I took off Best Offers because eBay accepted an offer that I didn’t accept or EVEN SEE! I didn’t have the “automatically accept” setting enabled and when I called them they admitted it was a “glitch” ... that day I took off Best Offer on all my listings. But I do send offers to buyers every chance I get.
That's weird, never heard of that happening.
Bernie’s Bootlegs yeah, i hadn’t either and so I thought I would have tough time convincing eBay that it happened, but the CSR reviewed everything and saw that I hadn’t received any communication about the offer admitted it was due to recents upgrades in the system... this was a few months back. To be honest it was a low dollar item and I only lost a couple of bucks so I didn’t ask eBay to do anything but just wanted them to admit the issue and maybe keep it from happening again.
Thank you 🙏
Fabulous and informative video as always Lindey!💕 FYI eBay titles allow 80 characters-use em up! Really great tips, thanks so much for sharing.
I agree
Hi, Lindey! Thank you for sharing so much great information. You mentioned that you pay your Ebay fees every couple of days. Would you show how to do that? Perhaps make a video? Thank you!
This is super easy! On your seller hub if you look at the invoice box it shows you how much is due and how much hasn't been posted yet to your invoice. Click on it and on the next screen you should see "make a one time payment" or something. Click on that and it will take you to the payment screen.
😂😂😂 cup number 4 omg love it
I probably came to you from watching Ashley's videos. I really enjoyed this video and subscribed.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Set up a markdown sale while watching! Last markdown led to 2 sales.
Update - 3 sales today after creating a markdown!
I love that example of yours eBay is like a needy woman lol 😂 you are so good of what you do Lindey,, I think I just want to listen to you and not to list ☺️.
Thanks. Got to get to it! ...more! :)
We do we go to measure sell through rate?
If you want average daily STR, take your # of sold listings from the last 90 days, divide that by 90, then divide that into your number of active listings.
Thanks Lindy! Great Video! Unboxing coming?
Lindey, you’re great.... thank you.
I'm trying to balance my in/out and I always seem to be shocked at how high the fees that get taken out of my paypal account are. Have you found a good way to calculate that with your overhead? Paypal is frustrating in not showing me a breakdown on fees, just a lump sum each month. :(
Lindey, I follow your videos and I have been selling on eBay since 2004. I have a EBay store with over 1,300 items everything from A to Z New and Vintage.Appliances, Antiques, Art, Books, Craft Supplies, Clothing, 50 Handbags, Home Decor, Kitchen items, Shoes, Tools, and my sales have almost completely STOPPED!! In the middle of February until now it has been a slow crawl of a $1.00 here or there. I have refreshed all 1,300 items like you said do. I list at list 15 items a day. I share to social media also everyday!! I have even called eBay asked them did they suspend me...they claim my items are running and I am not suspended!! What can I do ??
Also I am Top Rated, but I am going to lose it because I sold more being ABOVE STANDARD, as Crazy as that sounds. I think because I call eBay complaining too much and they have me on the back burner and they can do that without anyone knowledge. I have 3 BIG SALES running 15% off, 20% off and 50% off and nothing is selling, so it's not the prices...some $10 items are 1.00. I live on a fixed income, am 65 years old and work my butt off because I depend on eBay to make my income stretch to make ends meet, so I am following you and several others to see if anything will help me. I don't give up...that's NOT my nature.
@@cathytharington9561 I see your reply is over a year ago Cathy. I'm just wondering how you are going now as I'm in the same boat as you. In my 60's on a fixed income and need to earn extra cash. I'm struggling even though I have done everything the gurus say to do. I'm like you and not giving up but am wondering whether you are still doing ti and how you are going. I know they say to be patient but ... lol
But if you're new you can omly pist so many items per month witjpit having to pay to list items
I have 5 ebay pages, 4 etsy pages and I have not listed since October...but Crazy sales have been happening lately. Total listings is only around 250 items (on all 9 pages) I kinda gave up on etsy (too much promoting) but I think they have come around and realize if I'm not making money, they're not making money...Go figure...I just got busy , but I'm more motivated to list now...I'm not making killer money right now...but I just realized if I'm making $10-$30 a week Profit not trying! I can only imagine if I put forth more effort! You are inspiring!
I have gotta look over my whole store. We keep going like a roller coaster and its killing us. We go days barely selling anything and our H&B was selling hot until last Sept. It was like we hit a wall. We have come back but not anything like the 10-13 a day we were at and 30+ weekends, not since Sept 2019. Its so weird... We can't figure out what's wrong. We are doing everything that is suggested.
Not the first time I’ve heard this. Definitely check out your competition, keywords and prices! On eBay price is definitely king from what I’ve seen.
Great Video
