Handsewn Hikes - The Huswif and Crawfish Lake

Welcome to my Handsewn Hikes series! I can't believe we're already in December and this is my fifth Handsewn Hike video! Winter is in full swing here in Eastern Oregon, and while I love having four seasons, I'm definitely missing the heat of August and hikes.
Two of my favorite things are nature and sewing, and I thought combining the two was a perfect way to share both parts of my life.
The project I'm working on in this video is a Huswif from ‪@WilloughbyRose‬ . It is the Helga Huswif kit from her website (link below), and I really enjoyed making it!
~~~Handsewn Hikes Background~~~
I grew up the daughter of a wildlife biologist in Eastern Oregon, and most of my time as a child was spent in the outdoors while my dad conducted his research. As a result, I developed a love of nature and a great appreciation of the stunning beauty surrounding us. I really enjoy hiking, kayaking, and just being out side, especially in the summer. I find that if I am really stressed, a quick drive up a mountain to sit and look at our gorgeous valley helps me relax.
One of the skills my mother instilled in both my sister and me is sewing. I can remember sitting on her lap “sewing” while she ran the foot pedal at a very young age. It is a skill I worked hard at in 4-H through my youth, and then I picked it up again when my kids were born.
Since diving into the rabbit hole that is historical costuming, I have been hand sewing more frequently. I believe that the only way I am going to get better and quicker at hand sewing is to keep doing it.
My plan is to hike/travel to different locations around our valley and film different sewing projects at each place. I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me, and you find "my little world" as beautiful and diverse as I do.

How far in of a hike is that? Was that the 1 1/2 miles that was on the wooden sign? It sure is pretty!
