I think It's just tough to crack national pressure for some players. Eventually some figure it out eventually some don't.
Even Salah has struggled with that for Egypt, although obviously not to this extent coz he will ball for them against minnows then struggle in the big moments. Drogba another one who would farm small matches but absolutely disappear during crunch time for Cote d'Ivoire haha
But yeah I think especially in the vice versa you then have some players who specifically turn into beasts when they put on a national jersey but are bare average at club level like an Ochoa, Shaqiri, Vargas, Capdevila, Embolo, Schick, Klose, Grosso etc so yeah usually for these cases it becomes less about the talent and more about those mental blocks and struggling to navigate different environments
I think for Vini he is still young so he's got bare time to when they eventually become the leaders of that side and that's when it'll truly become sink or swim for him and in general for some of those underperformers in that side 👊🏿💥

@@TheOnlyTaps I would fully agree with you but the lvl Vini is showing for a nation like Brazil so far is beyond anything i seen. If Vini was playing for Egypt and dropping g/a at least and not being mentioned in Ballondor convos, i would not care as much. He is performing worse, with better teams and getting more global praise. Neymar comparisons MUST stop. Good comment tho

@@TBS-Football Oh yeah no doubt you know me I speak football so I don't really give oxygen to the player comparisons and stuff that people stay throwing into online and agenda discourse. Football twitter gonna football twitter and always take things too far.
That's why I was laughing that eventually some players figure it out eventually some don't. Part of life.
Like you mentioned, Vini wasn't even supposed to be in these convos coz again for many Madridistas who were rooting for him from when we got him we are just happy he's got here coz from the time we gambled on him Reinier and Rodrygo, Vini actually had the lowest potential so for him to have already done what he did he's surpassed his own expectations but now people are forgetting where that bar originally was and throwing him into generational player convos that he isn't in.
That's why I referenced the various examples of players who either were specifically good at club or only specifically good at country and I think for Vini even if he never figures out Brazil he'll be happy with what he's done so far at club level.

*Coz like you mentioned, I think where the online discourse gets silly is at those expectations. That's where I blame football twitter and the general hunger for constant player debates. When in reality a lot of level headed football fans including you and myself aren't gonna throw him into that bucket and putting him on that Neymar table. Even if he was scoring a hattrick every game for Brazil and broke their goal record I still wouldn't put him in that Neymar table coz most of us can see football with our eyes and not fanatic lenses.
