Definitely down for a Zone VS all others video. I've been going back and forth between my FLX Zone and Champ Caiman, and lately been leaning more on the Caiman since its shallower and has a better feel for forehand and backhand. But would like to keep at least one 4 speed in my bag.

I was playing at a course in the Badlands of Alberta. It was windy and the course was full of hills and thick bushes. I threw my Jarn thinking it was the ‘proper’ disc for what I was trying to do. I immediately lost it in a clump of bushes. I scrambled around for 10 minutes searching and found a Zone. My first thought was, “Oh, someone was thinking to do exactly what I was.” Found my Jarn. My Jarn is not a mid-range. Its an approach disc. The Zone is too.
I definitely like these verses style disc reviews because they give a better idea of how the discs fly relative to something I may have thrown before. Beaver Branch does them really well, but he only reviews trilogy discs. I think there's a huge opportunity to do comparison reviews across manufacturers. I'd love for you to be the guy to do them because you have such a great laid back style
Giant approach disc comparison video would be awesome. I've really only ever thrown the Zone and the Harp. Started with the Zone, went to the Harp, just went back to the Zone. Main reason for switching away from the Zone was ground play - it was a little skippy for me - and then I left the Harp behind because it was a little bit too straight. Right now I throw two zones - one in Ti FLX that just kind of sits where it lands, and one in ESP that will skip a little more. But maybe I could achieve the same thing with a Harp and a Culprit. Definitely interesting to see how every manufacturer is coming out with this sort of disc now, and how they all stack up.
Yeah, the harp was definitely straighter than the Zone, you could almost bag both of them! kind of like the Zone-Jokeri combo! And this would definitely compliment the Harp well in the bag! And yeah, I think all the companies are seeing the value and the demand for overstable approach discs in the lineup! everyone wants a zone-type disc from their favorite manufacturer!
If you do a big comparison video is it possible to add a Thought Space Athletics Temple to the mix, possibly an RPM Kea as well? Both are lesser known discs, bringing unique qualities to the table that would be fun to include.
Yeah I will have to add those to the list! TSA stuff is awesome! And I haven't tried any RPM stuff before, but you are the second to recommend the Kea so I will have to include it in the mass comparison!
Yeah the Anvil is a beast! This might not be as overstable as the Anvil, but they are pretty similar! Similar feel too... This is basicallly the Anvil with a microbead
I agree! The culprit is a step in stability when compared to the harp. Like you said, I like using the harp for backhand, and the culprit for forehand. You can hit on the culprit hard on for him to not worry about it turning over like the harp would
Another great review. DD actually classify the Culprit as a "upshot and approach disc...- perfect for shots between in-between a midrange and a putter". However it is placed under the category of a midrange since it's a 4 speed, which goes for the Harp as well, only because of the 4 speed. So you could argue for it being both a putter or midrange. For me it seems like a pure approach disc, and not a midrange or putter. Would be great to see a comparison of all the approach type disc. See if you can include the KP Järn, and the new Spy from Northstar (brand new Danish company).
Oooo, I haven't tried anything from Northstar! And I agree about the approach discs category, I think Prodigy is the only one that has really created a separate category for approach discs! They are onto something here...
I have been throwing the first run hybrid plastic culprit since it came out in June. Plastic is great and it flies almost exactly like my zone. I made the switch and haven't looked back. The Culprit is a great disc!
I picked up a prime moonshine Culprit and it’s bumped out my two Harp’s. I agree with you the Harp has always felt a tad to deep to get a clean release.
A comparison video would be great! I had the same issue with the harp. Forehand just felt too deep, so I use a zone now, and I have a streamline stabilizer I still need to try out.
Yeah, and I found with the Harp, when the winds picked up I could still get the Zone to give me a reliable fade when the Harp would just hold straight!

To be honest, I don't throw my overstable approach disc much... so it would probably last a long time for me! That's why I have had the same zone in the bag for the past 10 years and its still overstable for the Kansas winds! But if you throw this a ton, it will for sure beat up!
Personally, I bag 2 soft zones, a culprit, and a socki slammer. Culprit kicked out the moonshine harp I was bagging. The premium harps are too deep for my tiny hands lol. IMO Zones don’t have as much fade and ground play. The culprit is faster and more OS. Then the slammer is there for when I distant control shots.
I always thought the suspect was a lot straighter than the zone personally! But I also haven’t thrown the new tour series ones! The suspects are great though! I don’t understand why the stopped making them!
First? xD It seems interesting. The way you describe the flight it kinda sounds like a Järn from KP. Järn is deeper than a Harp and is probably even faster (4.5 speed) also. Def gonna feel one out next time Im at my local shop though. Have a good one!
Yeah it’s funny, the Järn is almost identical to a zone in flight numbers but it’s most definitely a midrange in my mind, whereas a zone is a putter. I think this culprit is really toeing the line, and I’d agree it probably leans further over to the side of the Järn than the Zone or anything else I can think of.
A Zone is a putter. A very "Alpha"- flying putter. This culprit reminds me a lot of that Drew Gibson Ruin.... i ended up removing it from my bag because I think Zones out class the Ruin. But if you like a straighter zone with a little more float, then it's worth it
I think the Justice would be a little faster. But this could definitely replace a Justice if you are wanting something a touch shorter with less ground play!
Might check this out next time I am at a shop. I use an Envy for my approaches and a Buzzz and Reactor if I need more distance. Been looking at a 4 speed but have not found a reason to buy one yet.

Yeah I can totally see that! I think they are just trying to fulfill everyone's preference rather than fill one person's bag... because they are all similar.. but they are also all different! not enough to bag them all, but enough for people to throw different things based on preference! The harp is a little deeper and glidier, and not as overstable as teh rest. the Suspect is kind of like the Harp but not as much glide... (haven't thrown it in a long time...).
