I would like to see a spotlight on the American Leopard Hound, not to be confused with the Catahoula Leopard Dog. As far as I can tell low maintenance, no drool, can withstand EXTREME temperatures both hot and cold even with short hair. From what I understand an all around farm/guard dog. But I'd love to get your take and see what you dig up on this breed. Thanks 🐶
If you can I'd also like to see the a top 10 low energy PROTECTION dogs, not home guardians. It seems like every protection dog breed is basically an outright ball of energy that is hard for chill families to deal with ⚡
A doberman named Abby was the best dog I've ever owned hands down. Unbelievably obedient, loyal and she has this unrelenting desire to take commands. Just rescued a rot but already seems smart and loyal. Does seem like that stare...that readiness to take commands is not as intense but he's not dumb by any means.
Love your work, Will, but the word, “adult” is important with regards to the Dobermann’s exercise requirements. So many owners expect a pup to require 2 hours of daily exercise resulting the inevitable hip or shoulder joint damage, resulting sometimes even in the need for amputation. It is a gorgeous large breed that requires *exactly* the required amount of exercise in early years and no more. Less is more for this breed’s early months.🤝
I’m almost positive you’re talking about American Dobermans, because you euro spec is much larger in size when you compare the weight differences, and also they are built more stocky with broader chest, bigger heads, bigger feet and, they are almost always taller than the American breeds
Fully agree. My boy is 18 months old and he is just over 31 inches at the withers and 54kg or 120 lbs. He is UK Kennel Club registered and his lineage is all Russian and Serbian working lines on both maternal and paternal sides. We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Alaskan Malamute x GSD before him, they were all around 50-55kg, but the Dobie is much taller and sleekly muscled. Compared to the Ridgeback he is very high energy and this is not a breed for someone who is not active. Extremely intelligent, obedient most of the time (but he is still young) and very protective of our family. My wife was jogging with him recently and he was attacked (unprovoked), by a large Rottweiler that was off-lead. The melee knocked my wife over and she badly sprained her ankle, but she managed to unclip our boy from the lead so he could defend himself. Once he realised what was happening, he easily overpowered the Rottie and pinned it with his front legs, until the owner could grab hold of it. Fortunately no injuries, but it was the first and thankfully only time he has had to do this. If you have the time and energy to invest in a European Doberman there is no better family dog.
My 15 month Doberman mix is tired after an hour as well lol. He also hates warmer weather. If the sun’s shining a little bit he’s like ‘wooow hot’ and he always wants to go for a swim in the fountain in front of my house when we get back from a walk. 😂
Tbh I expected a little bit more depth in this comparison. The physical attributes and general facts are not really interesting. I can google this in 20 seconds. I was hoping to get more insight on the differences and nuances regarding character and behaviour between those two breeds - in a way only an experienced dog trainer as you can offer.
I really appreciate your feedback, we are doing our best to help dog owners all over the world and your feedback means we can do that better moving forward so thank you again.
Doberman’s for life 👑

I have owned Dobies for 48 years and have loved the breed. Most of mine have wanted to be couch potatoes though. (if you let them)
Neapolitan Mastiff vs. Bullmastiff? 🤔
XL Bully vs the Amstaff? 🤔

Exactly. Especially the chests of the males are much broader.

Still a puppy hehe. Give it time! Soon he’ll be taking YOU for a walk 😂
