‘Liar’ Lehrmann cops $6 million legal bill - can he afford it? (Podcast)

Bruce Lehrmann has been ordered to pay the vast majority of Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson’s whopping costs after unsuccessfully suing them for defamation.
Justice Michael Lee said Ten’s journalism was unreasonable and unjustifiable. But he slated Lehrmann’s lies and his decision to have lawyers cross-examine a rape victim, knowing she was telling the truth.
The Federal Court judge has launched a scathing attack on Ten and Lisa Wilkinson for lacking “rigour and objectivity” when interrogating Brittany Higgins’ r-pe allegations, despite ordering Bruce Lehrmann to pay most of the broadcaster’s legal fees for knowingly launching dishonest defamation proceedings.
Justice Lee on Friday criticised the former Liberal staffer for bringing a defamation matter based on a “fanciful and knowingly false premise” and, as such, ordered him to pay the rumoured $6 million legal bills of both Ten and Wilkinson.
