A lot of people don’t understand the physics involved here, even though it’s an anime it should still be noticed. Luffy basically twisted his body so tightly that when he unwound himself it hit lucci with a whip lash like effect making lucci fly back spinning as fast as luffy was. Also explains why he couldn’t stop himself from spinning, he twisted himself more than he thought. Such a unique attack.
Thank you, everyone is saying the toe wiggle is a little animation gesture like nah it is the wave flowing through luffy's toes and then BACK to his leg and hitting Lucci smack dab in the head with that energy build up from the spin.
So saying that he stopped time due to his ability to transform imagination into reality/toon force, because the color saturation that was used in this part represents time stopping in several other animes and works, in addition when Luffy is much faster than the opponent, time slows down, it doesn't stop when he launched that attack on Rob Lucci, there are other things that people are talking about and I think that's very coherent. Everything around him also freezes, like the ground that should be moving because it's made of rubber, the smoke also stops in time (and in other moments of this fight when time slows down it moves slowly, it doesn't stop in time like it did) and Rob Lucci was also completely frozen in time, and the animators even make some highlights showing that Luffy was able to move in frozen time, showing him moving his fingers.
I love the little toe wiggle at 1:17. it's so incredibly stupid in all the right ways, Luffy's just not taking any of this serious at all. Fantastic little detail.
