Thanks, Angela. Great information! Very helpful.
I think Amazon has the philosophy that the customer must by satisfied, no matter if the customer is at fault or you are at fault. Maybe, that will help those vendors who are frustrated by that particular policy by showing that their is a reason for it. It's possible that we, as vendors/sellers, come out ahead when we refund the dissatisfied customer, because, we earn the reputation of satisfying our customers. Which helps draw more customers. I really don't know if that is true. I've never read any statistics on it. In any case, thank you for helping me understand what's going on with these companies.

I quit ebay selling for the very same reasons you sight. I dont know how anyone makes a profit. I would only sell old stuff I dont use anymore and unwanted gifts, plus I had the ability to ship with no cost, but people are such cheap skates it was still nearly impossible to make any money. I would always sell brand new stuff with free shipping at whole sale prices but people would still ask for a lower price. I posted a 42" mirror for $25 with free shipping and I still had people haggling for a lower price. I finally sold it for $20. If I had to pay for shipping it would have cost $50 just for the shipping.

I know that amazon does the shipping for you but for Etsy, the seller needs to deal with all the shipping costs like boxes, tape, shipping labels, and shipping fees. My question is: When selling on Etsy, how do you go about shipping fees so that it's not too expensive? What shipping carrier do you use? Do they provide a shipping discount for small business owners?

Amazon just has gotten too big, I think

Wouldn't that be beneficial? Who hasn't used Amazon? That's our first resource where I work. My chief engineer has me go there first. Colleges offer students "prime". My son is an Amazonhoe.

Depends on how much you sell and how often. It also depends on what your selling. its its 100% handmade and is for women 23-60 ETSY one of a kind items Ebay auction. 1000s of items Amazon

In ETSY lots of products are not handmade in the USA, most are bought in China and justpersonalized with laser printed names or initials. It doesn't sound fair to consumers to be deceived by this. Amazon is even worse

That's very specific to personalized items. Etsy has a lot of that but a lot more of Wall art, handmade jewellery, resin works, etc
