    Dear professor,
    Can you explain again why liquid is consume when peritectic point is outside the tie triangle and how it’s similar to that in binary system?

    Is there a difference between the 3:1 peritectic shown in 17:12 and the one in 24:53? It looks like the trapezoidal shown in the later situation is not applicabe to the first.. im a bit confused about that..

      No they are the same reaction and the liquid phase composition lies outside the tie triangle formed by the 3 solid phases; they may look slightly different as the placement of the solid compositions is a little different in these two. Hope that helps.
