I remember back in high school a friend in art class told me about a arcade game he saw at the beach that was street fighter but with monsters. My mind was blown and I was super hyped. He didnt get to play it because there was such a huge crowd around the arcade machine but we knew without even playing it that it was something special. Kids now are lucky, back then we didn't have the internet or cell phones so we just had to speculate.
I actually think it's quite the opposite. Back in the day (I'm 42 right now) when Street Fighter 2 was released for arcades it was something MAGICAL to go to the arcades and get amazed at what you saw there, even if it only was the demo play. You paid attention to every single detail of the stage, the colors, the sounds... Same with Mortal Kombat, I remember some guy doing the Kano fatality, all the screen turning black and then that bloody heart... Jesus Christ. Those were the days man. Now it's much more boring, I love games still but it's not the same anymore. It's like even before the game gets released it's like all across youtube, reviews, spoilers, all in your own phone and it is so much more information that you pretty much don't care anymore. The game has to be exceedingly ultra amazing to raise your brows. I guess it comes with becoming old.
@@chriskater You're right, it's an overload of information. Do as I do, simply shut yourself off from videos of the games you're anticipating. Only buy a magazine here and there, just like the old days. After a while, you will 'recharge' your excitement, so to speak, and not feel so jaded anymore.
Just back to say i still love and play this game. Red Earth is definitely my favorite in this collection. And we're FINALLY getting the Marvel vs. Capcom collection 👍
I loved Nightwarriors and Vampire Savior on Saturn. And me and my friends played the hell out of Puzzle Fighter. This looks like a killer compilation. Great review.
I'm so happy to see Darkstalkers finally getting more love again. But now I get to try Red Earth, Cyberbots, and admitively Puzzle Fighter for the first time. With Rollback Netcode? Can't wait! Great review.
I cant wait to get this on steam and play on my At Games Legends Cabinet! This and Shredders revenge within a week. Us 90s kids getting some serious love!! Excellent review as always!
Yeah and also Sonic Origins collection in a few days and also the Cowabunga Collection later on ,hoping it drops in July but just rumors for now. They are hitting us with the Nostalgia hard this year !
Now guys imagine if they release arcade perfect ports of Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Street Fighter and the first 2 Marvel vs. Capcom ..... I could retire happily from fighting games for the rest of my life. - 30th Anniversary Collection - Capcom Fighting Collection - Marvel vs Capcom Collection All and any wrongs by Capcom would be forgiven in an instant.
X-men vs Street Fighter was amazing. I had a Japanese Saturn and imported it. The sequels were great too. I read up on it and apparently Capcom won't pay the additional license fees to get them released or something like that.
Been looking forward to this for a couple months now. Having all these fighters in one spot is so good. Having to track down the original individual games and the hardware to play them is such a pain these days. I'm lucky to have some of them but even still this collection is going to be my ideal way to play going forward. I do wish I could afford the Japanese limited edition with all the posters
All of these games can be played on fightcade with mame emulation, and online as well. I play alpha 2 and 3rd strike on there all of the time. Of course, it isn't the same as booting them up on a CRT, but it's fun play in the arcade with everybody in FC.
@@FlockofSmeagles fully agree. Fightcade is the way to go if you want online play these days but it's nice to have an official product that we can purchase and have live support. Now we just need some modern ports of all the vs games and I'll be happy haha
@@ninetendopesaitama2107 even though I don't own one yet, I'm definitely a massive fan of the MiSTer project. My comment was more in terms of an official release. Even if I likely choose to play cyberbots on my PC I'd love to own the game physically or digitally so that I can always have access to it in the future and own my own ROM of it. Plus having a lot more folks to play online with the game will be pretty dope.
Some friends and I recently went to this local arcade for my birthday. There were so many different old school fighting games we played that I had to scratch that itch to play more of them. Darkstalkers 2 and Jojo's Venture were so fun to play, so I'm glad at least one of them is in this collection. Crazy how new this collection is, at the time I'm writing this.
I'm excited to buy this on my switch. I've only played the first dark stalkers so it's gonna be a treat to play the rest of them. I love fighting games and can't wait.
They opened a Walmart in my smaller city in 94. In the mini-arcade: the brand new fighting game darkstalkers. Blew my mind at the time. Horror Street Fighter
Can't wait to receive my copy and relive my childhood playing Dark Stalkers. I used to play this game with my cousin at an arcade in Gozo.We used to spend a week or two on this island every summer as a summer vacation. Capcom, SNK and DataEast were kings back then. Their sprite/artwork was phenomenal.
Gonna buy this collection asap mostly for the darkstalkers series and for it having red earth.Note i spent many countless hours playing, nightwarriors and vampire savior on the sega saturn.Which made me a fan of the darkstalkers in general such a underrated series in my opinion johnny.
@turtlesallthewaydown8831 I completely forgot I made this comment. I'm so glad Capcom did this! When I made the comment, I honestly thought it was a pipe dream. 😭
I’ve still got all 3 games mentioned installed on my 360 but they got removed from the marketplace ages ago & now the entire 360 XBLA marketplace is shut down, but yeah, they’ve been announced for release soon. I hope they get released to all platforms (PS5,XBOX Series,as well as the Switch) because online mode is pretty much dead on the 360 versions.
I have the darkstalkers games on my saturn and played the hell out of it in the 90s. I got this on my series x for all the Darkstalkers and Red Earth. Poket Fighter is a bonus.
If you're not interested in online, an option would be to just pick up Capcom Arcade Stadium and the upcoming 2nd Arcade Stadium. It contains almost *all* the games in the Fighting Collection, Street Fighter 30th Collection and the Beat 'em up Bundle but without online. The games that aren't include are the Street Fighter 3 games and Red Earth (I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 3rd Arcade Stadium in future with these). The amount of overlap in these collections is kinda strange tbh.
I am planning to pre-purchase this on Thursday, I'm not surprise hearing some great stuff about it. I will be honest I'm a little surprise when similar things got said about Sonic Origins. This was a great nostalgia filled review man.
You’ve got what you were looking for coming soon. At least for the switch but I pray to all that’s good that it comes to the PS5 & X Box Series consoles because Power Stone & Power Stone 2 were among my favourite Dreamcast games in my collection back in the day.
Hopefully Capcom knocks it out of the park with the Rollback Netcode. I'm so glad my favorite fighting series is finally getting the attention it truly deserves! I've got my import physical copies coming for PS4 and the Switch! Those come with a physical copy of SF 30th Anniversary International Edition! The ultimate pickup. I might even pick it up for Steam. My arcade sticks are all getting a workout this weekend!! Darkstalkers - in love with it since 8th grade at our local Godfather's Pizza!! Me and my friends after school playing each other over pizza and soda. Great times!! Learning the Darkness Illusion and other unorthodox inputs for supers was fun! The wait for the PS port took FOREVER it seemed like. That artwork for Night Warriors (especially the win poses will always be some of my favorite Capcom art pieces of all time)! Cyberbots in the arcade was amazing. I only got to play it for a short time. That soundtrack is still one of the best on the hardware. It really gets your blood pumping. The home versions with Mech-Gouki were outstanding. Hopefully he's in there somewhere... Vampire Savior - the Saturn version still might take it if there is no option to combine Savior 1 & 2's roster... I'm still ecstatic for all of it!! And I'm getting my big brother a copy too...😄
Ordered my switch copy of this for Red Earth alone. I also haven't played Darkstalkers since the arcade days, so I'm missing those games as I've been recently really enjoying arcade re-release & modern takes like Shredder's Revenge.
And i love how that capcom in all there recent arcade collections for the PS4, I love how they use the REAL AND AUTHENTIC ARCADE ROMS ❤️🥺😍 like it’s not a home system port in disguise, it’s all the actual arcade perfect Roms from there original arcade boards like the CPS1 CPS2 and CPS3 ❤️😍🥺
Puzzle Fighter is an awesome puzzle game Johnny. At one of bigger arcades it got serious when ppl played it. Yeah we had 3rd strike and MvC2 but that Puzzle Fighter bought out the ppl there.
Beyond Killer Instinct on the SNES and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, I've never gotten into fighting games. Seeing that this has a definitive version of Street Fighter II and how absolutely incredible and nostalgic the animation is in these games, I might have to download this and train myself on SFII. I've heard once you learn SFII, you essentially know the basics for most fighting games going forward.

If they did that, it would have to be a Switch exclusive. Because Final Fight 2 and 3 were made under contract with Nintendo as SNES-exclusives, and that's why we haven't seen them since. I personally would rather see a remake instead, or better yet, a legitimate sequel made in the same vain as Streets of Rage 4. A lot of the characters have gotten fleshed out from being featured in Street Fighter, so having Cody, Maki, Lucia, etc with all their moves from those games, and a crazy combo system on top of that, would make it an instant buy for me.
I loved this era of Capcom and got a Sega Saturn because of it. I too am getting this collection for multiple systems, Nintendo Switch definitely but also XBOX for sure! Great video!
oh yeah between this and the capcom arcade 2nd stadium its definitely a great time for classic capcom fans! I still gotta track down the physical edition of beat-em-up bundle (I do have it digitally) but that was an amazing collection too! I assume it's the same folks working on this game given the interface/menus are the same?! I do love the prospect of playing Hyper SF2 online! Although yeah it'll be fun to revisit the darkstalkers games, for sure.
I cant wait to get my hands on it. I upgraded my 8bitdo arcade stick with sanya parts for all the great arcade ports and collections on switch, its a blast! ^~^
Wow, this is an absolute blessing especially considering I had most of these on Saturn and sadly sold my Saturn collection back in 2017, regrettably. I've got to grab this, and glad it has a NA physical version for ps4
I would like another collection like this with Jojo’s bizarre adv, All the different Rival Schools, then icing on the cake all the Marvel vs Games. Like Street fighter vs Xmen / Marvel vs Capcom & MVC2.
Definitely getting this compilation. While I already have the street fighter 30th anniversary edition for my Switch/PS4/XB1X I'm a long time Capcom fan so this collection is obviously a no brainer for me.
I'm gonna get a physical copy on July 1 when I get my next check bc I already preorder fire emblem three hopes and Live a Live and some others already lol. Basically just want it for Darkstalkers. I had the biggest crush on Morrigan and Felicia growing up lmao also love Hsien-Ko.
Just uploaded my review and I must say if you love classic Capcom Fighting Game Classics then you definitely should look into this. If you want to see these games revived in the future then show capcom that you have interest in these titles.
the PS2 darkstalkers collection is still the defenitive one IMO,it has all the games in 1 disk plus all bosses unlocked and an exclusive character on vampire saviour called ''Dee'' the vampire version of donovan.
My main experience with Darkstalkers was the import for Dreamcast, Vampyre Savior for matching service. I own it still. I've been wanting Cyberbots for saturn. I was happy when this was announced. I love Darkstalkers more than street fighter.
Gamestop Canada started a new promo - Get a Minimum $10 trade credit when you trade your games towards: -Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes -Capcom Fighting Collection and your trade values need to be a minimum of $3.00 each. The promo starts June 23rd and runs until the 26th.
Those borders on these re-releases never bothered me much, but I'm glad to see that this one actually does give you the option to remove them if desired.
Just noticed you love your red earth poster. I don't know if it's still available, but try looking for the Japanese pre-order option that includes the full set of posters. They basically reprinted all the old posters and included 2 new vampire saviour 2 ones as well
I’ve got that capcom illustrations book, I’ve had it a good 20 plus years. I’ve got several others too like various street fighter anniversary ones (they big chunky thick books), marvel v capcom, few SNK ones. My favs though are the 2 darkstalkers ones, those 2 art books are beautiful
I'm a huge fan of horror knockoffs so Darkstalkers finally coming to modern systems is amazing, but I'm the most hyped for Super Puzzle Fighter 2. Man, we spent so many hours on this back in the day.
I seriously want this! They should do a Capcom VS collection! X-MEN VS Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom, MVC2, MVC3, Capcom VS SNK, SNK VS Capcom, Tatsunoko VS Capcom and Street Fighter X Tekken! That would be amazing, I'm sure it'll never happen due to licensing but a guy can dream!
Your positivity and enthusiasm about this collection are refreshing. If I was this into Darkstalkers and Red Earth Warzard I might be too. I'll wait until it goes on sale though.
The biggest crime is they did not use the PS2 Darkstalkers Collection ports, which includes special versions of Darkstalkers 3, Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 where all characters are available than omitting some.
I hope to get this one day. I hope the online is still active when I do. That's why I hate buying fighters. Most you have a very very small window of when the online is active
Johnny is there are battles VS the CPU which are not arcade mode? I mean is like a battle against a friend but it is the CPU. I was dissapointed when the SF collection didn't give the option.
I bought this for switch at Best Buy just now. They said they only got 1 copy for each console platform and it’s the same at my local Walmart. I suggest picking this up now I think this might be low print or u might have to order online
Somes things that need to be adressed; - The Saturn/Playstation ports of Darkstalkers 3 are not included, so you won't have any Vampire game with all characters in this collection. - Of course, the excellent Darkstalkers Chronicle is not here either. - Some of the games have been censored. For example, the Rising Sun symbol in E.Honda's stage is no longer there. And forget about the Morrigan and Lilith nude illustration, it's gone.
Its still insane how good sprite work was back in the mid 90s, so damn beautiful.
Also insane how people thought it looked dated while they were fantasizing about Lego Lara Croft's hooters.

I cant wait to get my hands on it. I upgraded my 8bitdo arcade stick with sanya parts for all the great arcade ports and collections on switch, its a blast! ^~^
I'm such a huge super puzzle fighter fan I want this collection mainly for that......and Morrigan, I love her❤️
Wow, this is an absolute blessing especially considering I had most of these on Saturn and sadly sold my Saturn collection back in 2017, regrettably. I've got to grab this, and glad it has a NA physical version for ps4
picking this up later, excited for darkstalkers and warzard!!!
Awesome! I cannot wait for it to be released on 6/24. It cannot come soon enough.
Heck yeah ! Capcom fighting game collection ftw !
I used to like black boarders too, but now I find myself using the ones with art work around the game more these days.
Nice one,Subscribed. Please keep it comin...
Can't wait to have it in my PS4 game collection. 🔥👀🔥
Been looking forward to this game! Great review!
Looks very cool. I've never played Dark Stalkers but look forward to playing. 🤛🤛
WONDERFUL REVIEW JOHNNY!♥️♥️♥️😎💯☺️☺️🙌
My physical copy should get here Friday. Sounds like fun times.
the PS2 darkstalkers collection is still the defenitive one IMO,it has all the games in 1 disk plus all bosses unlocked and an exclusive character on vampire saviour called ''Dee'' the vampire version of donovan.
I’m glad I have this collection, but I couldn’t continue messing around with it for more than 30 minutes with Westwood’s Blade Runner release out now!
My brother and I used to play Pocket Fighter ALL THE TIME on PlayStation. I can’t wait to play it again!
My main experience with Darkstalkers was the import for Dreamcast, Vampyre Savior for matching service. I own it still. I've been wanting Cyberbots for saturn. I was happy when this was announced. I love Darkstalkers more than street fighter.
Gamestop Canada started a new promo - Get a Minimum $10 trade credit when you trade your games towards:
-Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
-Capcom Fighting Collection
and your trade values need to be a minimum of $3.00 each. The promo starts June 23rd and runs until the 26th.
Sounds like a whole lotta fun for fighting game enthusiasts! It is cool to see those games we never got before getting released now.
Definitely interested now. Are there any more fighting games with the RPG element?
Those borders on these re-releases never bothered me much, but I'm glad to see that this one actually does give you the option to remove them if desired.
Just noticed you love your red earth poster. I don't know if it's still available, but try looking for the Japanese pre-order option that includes the full set of posters. They basically reprinted all the old posters and included 2 new vampire saviour 2 ones as well
I preordered that just for the posters. Also got the Capcom Belt Collection special edition with those posters. One day, up in the game room.
Damm where can I buy the posters
I’ve got that capcom illustrations book, I’ve had it a good 20 plus years. I’ve got several others too like various street fighter anniversary ones (they big chunky thick books), marvel v capcom, few SNK ones. My favs though are the 2 darkstalkers ones, those 2 art books are beautiful
Darkstalkers is phenomenal and I love Morrigan aensland 💜💜😊😊
I'm a huge fan of horror knockoffs so Darkstalkers finally coming to modern systems is amazing, but I'm the most hyped for Super Puzzle Fighter 2. Man, we spent so many hours on this back in the day.
horror knockoff? Nah
What’s a “horror knock-off”?
I got it for Switch and Xbox Series X, the physical versions. Great collection of games for sure.
I Can't Wait To Try For The 1st Red Earth!.
I'm with you on those borders, not having black borders is a deal breaker for me
Can i ask, i notice most or all of your new pickups like this are PS4 versions, is there a reason you choose instead of Nintendo Switch?
I seriously want this!
They should do a Capcom VS collection! X-MEN VS Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom, MVC2, MVC3, Capcom VS SNK, SNK VS Capcom, Tatsunoko VS Capcom and Street Fighter X Tekken!
That would be amazing, I'm sure it'll never happen due to licensing but a guy can dream!
Your positivity and enthusiasm about this collection are refreshing. If I was this into Darkstalkers and Red Earth Warzard I might be too. I'll wait until it goes on sale though.
Now we need all the marvel fighting games in one place all 4 of the saturn ones and the 2 dreamcast ones. Even though i already own them.
loved the review but you did puzzle fighter dirty! :P amazing vs game with lots of fun counterplay and action--really good for casual vs play
Awesome review video game man 😎!
The biggest crime is they did not use the PS2 Darkstalkers Collection ports, which includes special versions of Darkstalkers 3, Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 where all characters are available than omitting some.
First game I've pre ordered for years.👍
Instant buy. Thanks for the review 😊
I finally get to play Red Earth/Warzard after 25 years of waiting, not to mention the other rare titles
I freakin love darkstalkers. John tailbain is my man 👍👍
Do you have any merchandise? Shirts or anything
Nice videos Johnny.
I bought this for switch at Best Buy just now. They said they only got 1 copy for each console platform and it’s the same at my local Walmart. I suggest picking this up now I think this might be low print or u might have to order online
Somes things that need to be adressed;
- The Saturn/Playstation ports of Darkstalkers 3 are not included, so you won't have any Vampire game with all characters in this collection.
- Of course, the excellent Darkstalkers Chronicle is not here either.
- Some of the games have been censored. For example, the Rising Sun symbol in E.Honda's stage is no longer there. And forget about the Morrigan and Lilith nude illustration, it's gone.
What about the Soviet Union flag and symbols in Zangief's stage? They got woke over that too?
@@dangunheadachron1603 Apparently yes, cannot confirm at the moment.
And of course, Hong Kong's flag has been changed to China's.
Wait how have you got this already I have been stalking Amazon and Ebay like a creep waiting for this and it isnt released yet. Let me check again
Nope still not available - . -
Thanks for doing this video about game it good. Going get it soon
I’d love to have a Mortal Kombat collection.
I waited for this. I only met Morrigan and Jedah in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Morrigan is with the good team fighting against Ultron Sigma.
Vampire savior 2 and vampire Hunter 2 were the ones we didn’t got here.
