For ppl that missed out on them...Heroes of the Storm used to have voice lines that essentially acted as easter eggs of sorts for D3. Whether it was something direct where you'd hear Sonya (barbarian) say "that was for Leah" after killing Diablo. Or something way more creepy/fire in using the D3 skin for Diablo...where she gains a unique voice line where you hear Leah calling for help a few times before the voice distorts back to Diablo in a mocking/laughing manner. It's super creepy. But it's awesome.

They wasted her potential. Prince Aidans Heir and One of the Last horadrim pre Deckard's death. They could of used her as the new Cain or used her royal lineage. But no, she is just Diablo sacrifice.

They may be retconning the D3 Nephalem to avoid the implications that Nephalem would return en masse in the wake of the Worldstone’s destruction. A gaggle of Nephalem has the potential to trivialize the struggle of Sanctuary considering how powerful even 1 of them would be.
Couldn't stand her character. It felt like Blizzard tried to force the player's sympathy for her at every corner. Killing Cain off to give us Leah was such a bad move.
Say what people will of D3, but Leah didn't deserve that tragic ending... I've never felt more angry than the fight with Adrea, her mocking you for caring about Leah, how she viewed Leah as just a tool, and all the happiness I felt killing that b****.

I feel like Leahs horribly tragic fate is really overlooked, but maybe that's part of the story, part of the setting. It's such a sad thing, but just another step in the path of a horrible evil.
It's definitely just par for the course. The most tragic is probably Queen Asylla, Leoric's wife, and no one really cares about her either lol. That's just how Sanctuary is, F'd up stuff happens all the time, to the point that everyone is numb. The world just really doesn't care much about anyone in it, because the fate of existence always being in jeopardy is just more important than these smaller personal stories

I really hope we get more info on Tyrael from the game. Even with his soothing voice, Tyrael deserves a better sendoff than just having Lorath say he disappeared from sanctuary

Man, I just finished D1 and D2 prob. finishing D3 tonight. This story helped me so much to understand what's going on. I'm so hyped. For me, D2R. was the best so far gameplay-wise but the story was excellent in all of them

Did I miss it or was there not a single mention of the Nephalem from D3? Lorath is referring to them as "Adventurers" but he knew they were nephalem. Even in the Reaper of Souls cinematic Tyrael tells Lorath "Find the nephalem" so I think this means that this storyline will not be too concerned with what happened at the end of D3...maybe will be left for an expansion or something.
Guess we'll find out soon enough I mean technically all humans in Sanctuary are Nephilim though I can't remember if it was ever explained why "you" (the player) had access to powers but 99% of Sanctuary did not since the world stone was used to control their powers and with it gone I woulda thought all powers would return or they would be gone forever but Blizz storytelling rarely makes sense. lol
I think in episode 1 or 2 he talk about them and how not many are left... but since every Player is immortal (Unless you play Hardcore lol) we are still Nephalem
So the Nephaelems are called "adventurers" now? I guess they wanted to fix the " Will He/She has the strength to resist or will He/she be our doom" line from ROS ending.(Unless that is explained in d4)
Since Nephalem were made to be way overpowered, it’s probably a good idea to retcon the D3 Nephalem. Continuity breaks suck, but hard to have a dark gothic tone if the world is now populated by super humans who are more powerful than angels and demons.

It was a mistake to call them nephalem in the first place. According to the new lore, the true nephalem were almost gods and very much immortal. Tal Rasha etc are examples of the true nephalem. Everyone else after that lack the ability due to the manipulation of the world stone. It could be still in play if they chose to do a dlc where the nephalem from d3 gained the world stone powers back at end of d4
I had a feeling we should have at least one more from Lore-ath before we are able to forge our own little lore piece inside the game. So here it is! :)

My money’s on a HARD retcon of the Nephalim, into oblivion essentially, there’s no reason for us to not even hear a peep about his/her whereabouts if the still exist in the story. Hence Cain’s “Group of Adventurers™️.”

I don’t know if it’s canonical that every single class and gender all existed at once, but, assuming they do, there’s like twice as many heroes as usual in D3’s story with each of them having a legitimate backstory as to why they’d be as strong as they are. Just say that it was a group of like 14 (1 gender of each class in the final game) stronger than normal humans who managed to defeat Diablo and Malthael together instead of trying to turn them into one individual superhuman. Would make the story so much better.

@@m0002856 I believe it was always 'canon' that it was a group of Nephalim that defeated Prime Evil Diablo and Malthael, the Angel of Death. Also remember that the Lord of Envy was harvesting would be Nephalim to try and gain their power as well.
Doubt it. Blizzard retconed the whole all powerful nephilim story and replaced it with good Ole fashioned group of heroes. I think it was a smart move. Having a character that is the most powerful being in existence basically ends the story. Nothing can possibly be a threat now.

This was already stated in game at the start of the act 5 campaign, when you first meet him.
Lorath is the first NPC you meet when you start Reaper of Souls. He is standing on the bridge into Westmarch fighting reapers.

incredible mini-series that i didnt knew i need. Incredible storytelling by "Lorath", Ralph voice is pretty much made for audio books.

Honestly just throw out the entire, “chosen one” bullshit and the ending of Reaper of Souls with Tyrael being afraid of the future of our character.
I don’t know if it’s canonical that every single class and gender all existed at once, but, assuming they do, there’s like twice as many heroes as usual in D3’s story with each of them having a legitimate backstory as to why they’d be as strong as they are.
Just say that it was a group of like 14 (1 gender of each class in the final game) stronger than normal humans who managed to defeat Diablo and Malthael together instead of trying to turn them into one individual superhuman.
Would make the story so much better.

@@m0002856 I believe it was always 'canon' that it was a group of Nephalim that defeated Prime Evil Diablo and Malthael, the Angel of Death.
Also remember that the Lord of Envy was harvesting would be Nephalim to try and gain their power as well.
Doubt it. Blizzard retconed the whole all powerful nephilim story and replaced it with good Ole fashioned group of heroes. I think it was a smart move. Having a character that is the most powerful being in existence basically ends the story. Nothing can possibly be a threat now.
