8 years since Arkham Knight. I was waiting for a serious, well written and well crafted single player experience like it. And all we get is a mindless so-called "live service", microtransaction-filled, online looter shooter with bullet sponge enemies and "damage numbers" flying around... My disappointment is immeasurable.
Deadshot gets guns. Okay, makes sense. Harley gets guns. Okay, that's not out of the ordinary. Captain Boomerang gets guns. Wait.. Why? His weapon of choice is a BOOMERANG. King Shark gets guns. Huh..? He's a SHARK!! What are his teeth even for!!?
It looks fun lol, their abilities stay very in line with their characters. Like, their main weapons are guns but all their abilities are exactly what you would expect tbh

They were supposedly pitching Superman, and didn't start working on Suicide Squad until 2017, which had to be a live-service, multiplayer game as dictated by Warner. They did the same thing to Gotham Knights too, another game made by executives rather than game designers. Funny thing, their other game which is Hogwarts Legacy has broken the all the Warner records in sales, and the game is a complete single-player, offline experience.

I remember when they revealed Spider-Man Ps4 gameplay, there were no cuts, no flashy edits, no edgy soundtrack, just plain continuous gameplay. That's the mark of a confident developer and an actual fun game.
From a studio which gave you a Batman game where you feel like Batman, you get a game where you feel like an Anthem Javelin instead of Arkham character.
That is literally the best explanation for this game. It feels like Anthem with a DC and Arkham background where you do the exact same things you did in Anthem.
Gamers have been against this and we do actively show support against such scummy practices. The casuals don't. It's why these companies make a lot and get away with it.

This feels like the 4 players are off doing their own things shooting at weak points rather than each player having their own role and working together

I've yet to see impactful shooting in any video game, I'm thinking guns should be phasing out soon entirely. It's literally so boring when you think about it, mainly 3rd person shooters that do absolutely nothing to innovate the genre.
Too late, game is going gold in about 4 weeks after 8 years development. Guess they should have showed this gameplay back in year 3 of development, then your feedback could have been taken into account.
The Arkham games were groundbreaking and took superhero games to a new level. We wouldn't have the PS4 Spider-Man if not for the Arkham games. As well as them having paid tremendous homage to the entire Batman mythos. How on Earth One is THIS a continuation of those games? 😔

I love how King Shark does a huge, rolling cannonball dive bomb and then just lands on his feet like he weighs less than a balloon. Everything in this just looks so unimpactful.

So according to a source explaining the difference between devs and publishers, it said something to the effect of *third party devs never have full control over the product they produce, and publishers can determine the goals of a game and such...* Assuming rocksteady can be subsumed under that category and that WB is publishing their game, it makes sense. Supposedly a Superman open-world game Rocksteady was working on was turned down by WB, but coincidentally the setting for this game just so happens to be metropolis. And as for the live service aspect, WB seemingly attempted it before with Gotham Knights, as it is said to feel as if it was built with a live service skeleton according to content creators whom played it. This explanation isn't as well articulate as the previous I wrote and is more "in a nutshell" esque but hopefully it gets the point across
This would've been really cool had they done mission based with the Suicide Squad members and their skills. Like Arkham but with villains. Why is everyone flying? LOL There's just so much going on. It would've been so much more fun to be able to infiltrate and do cool co-op takedown things as the Suicide Squad.
Haven’t even watched the video yet but I can tell you in EVERY SINGLE Arkham game you pay for the skins and extra. They all have season passes, if you’re gonna rip on this then rip on the whole series, and the principle of paid DLC for that matter. And Asylum came out in like 2007 if I remember correctly, so this isn’t a “in the last 10 years” thing.

I was waiting for this game for years and this is what the final product will be like. All hype has just gone for me. I had heard that the game is going to be live service but still I was clinging to the hope it might not be the case. The least they could have done is not disrespecting the Arkham series by saying this game is connected to the Arkham series (all single player games with great stories). Also sad to see that Kevin is going to get this game as his farewell.
Love how the time spent in the air is around twenty times higher than on the ground… You just basically have to touch the ground every twenty seconds or so.
I would be more upset about the fact the landing lacked any kind of impactful feeling, I can’t believe this was made by the same developer that made the Arkham games...

The worst part for me of this beyond the lack of variety in enemies is the complete lack of immersion with characters. Remember when you play Batman Arkham and then in some moment you have to use Detective Mode, or go stealth, or even in some situations use BOTH of things to advance in game? Or when in combat all characters had the their own fighting style and weapons? Well, forget about it in this game. All 4 characters, despite a minor difference, play in the same way. Also, it seems the game will only require you to shoot, jump and then doing it all over again. No strategy, no exploration of each character particular skilla. It feels so generic
I've played this game before. In fact, this game has been made so many times. I was really hoping this would be a game with similar mechanics to the Arkham games, but with unique abilities for each character. Instead, it's just a run and gun third person shooter.

I've yet to see impactful shooting in any video game, I'm thinking guns should be phasing out soon entirely. It's literally so boring when you think about it, mainly 3rd person shooters that do absolutely nothing to innovate the genre.
Too late, game is going gold in about 4 weeks after 8 years development. Guess they should have showed this gameplay back in year 3 of development, then your feedback could have been taken into account.

The Arkham games were groundbreaking and took superhero games to a new level. We wouldn't have the PS4 Spider-Man if not for the Arkham games. As well as them having paid tremendous homage to the entire Batman mythos. How on Earth One is THIS a continuation of those games? 😔

I love how King Shark does a huge, rolling cannonball dive bomb and then just lands on his feet like he weighs less than a balloon. Everything in this just looks so unimpactful.

Was expecting some sort of slam or divebomb. Jumped a hundred feet in the air just to land and continue shooting.

It was already a huge problem when this game that you pay $70 for was said to come with a Battlepass and now after seeing the gameplay I'm glad to say I'll have 0 regrets skipping this.

So according to a source explaining the difference between devs and publishers, it said something to the effect of *third party devs never have full control over the product they produce, and publishers can determine the goals of a game and such...*
Assuming rocksteady can be subsumed under that category and that WB is publishing their game, it makes sense.
Supposedly a Superman open-world game Rocksteady was working on was turned down by WB, but coincidentally the setting for this game just so happens to be metropolis.
And as for the live service aspect, WB seemingly attempted it before with Gotham Knights, as it is said to feel as if it was built with a live service skeleton according to content creators whom played it.
This explanation isn't as well articulate as the previous I wrote and is more "in a nutshell" esque but hopefully it gets the point across

This would've been really cool had they done mission based with the Suicide Squad members and their skills. Like Arkham but with villains. Why is everyone flying? LOL There's just so much going on. It would've been so much more fun to be able to infiltrate and do cool co-op takedown things as the Suicide Squad.

Haven’t even watched the video yet but I can tell you in EVERY SINGLE Arkham game you pay for the skins and extra. They all have season passes, if you’re gonna rip on this then rip on the whole series, and the principle of paid DLC for that matter. And Asylum came out in like 2007 if I remember correctly, so this isn’t a “in the last 10 years” thing.

For example, this is a co-op game, allegedly. Can you find the point in the trailer where 2 or more players do an action that requires their cooperation/coordination beyond shooting the same target?

Everything except for the actual gameplay looked great.

I was waiting for this game for years and this is what the final product will be like. All hype has just gone for me. I had heard that the game is going to be live service but still I was clinging to the hope it might not be the case. The least they could have done is not disrespecting the Arkham series by saying this game is connected to the Arkham series (all single player games with great stories). Also sad to see that Kevin is going to get this game as his farewell.
Being forced to make this game by higher ups is probably why he's leaving.

The worst part for me of this beyond the lack of variety in enemies is the complete lack of immersion with characters.
Remember when you play Batman Arkham and then in some moment you have to use Detective Mode, or go stealth, or even in some situations use BOTH of things to advance in game? Or when in combat all characters had the their own fighting style and weapons?
Well, forget about it in this game. All 4 characters, despite a minor difference, play in the same way. Also, it seems the game will only require you to shoot, jump and then doing it all over again. No strategy, no exploration of each character particular skilla. It feels so generic

I've played this game before. In fact, this game has been made so many times. I was really hoping this would be a game with similar mechanics to the Arkham games, but with unique abilities for each character. Instead, it's just a run and gun third person shooter.
