My precious Mama was a drummer in highschool, as was her uncle before her, and my younger brother. She often spoke with passion of her days in the band. One late afternoon while prepping dinner near the kitchen window, she saw/heard our neighbor practicing his drums in his driveway, across the alley. Next thing I knew, she ran out the kitchen door, somehow commandeered the young man's drums, and grinnin' from ear to ear, looked and sounded every bit like Sheila E. as she to'e up those drums! I was completely, totally blown away by her talent ! On that day, on this Mother's Day, 05.14.23, I commemorate her memory, as I realized, that day, the sacrifice she made to become a wife, and our mother ! Thank you, Mama
