Been following your journeys for the past few months. As an expat Kiwi stuck overseas at the moment due to Covid 1984, I felt very nostalgic watching you enter NZ waters and sailing past the Poor Knights and Tutukaka where my home is. Whangarei is a great place. Enjoy!!!
Every boat should carry a dremel, they are so versatile. I dont know how i survived before I had one. Cutting, drilling, polishing, routing wood, you name it. Have nice holiday dude, you deserve it.
The health food store patrons eating beans and sweepings off the floor. LOL, I was howling with your assessment of the folks who eat the twigs and bark that they offer up. Very funny.
Barry! Are you aware of the fact that you are the best single handed RUclipsr in the sailing world?! Every single time you succeed in putting a highly captivating & interesting story together! YOUR VIDEOS ARE A MUST WATCH! 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏⛵️⛵️⛵️💞 WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR, and always a hand width water under your keel! 🇨🇦🏴☠️🇨🇦
Working your butt off! I like the new hair cut. Shaddy will look gorgeous when done and you'll feel like a million tired bucks. Have a Merry Christmas, Barry and stay safe.
One of your best Barry very funny actually, especially the James Bond look at the end. Mrs. Quackers wants some crackers! Shads seems to be sighing with relief getting out the old getting back to the new. You both deserve a job well done 👍 and a little attention. Thanks Barry for keep us posted
The slopes in the carparks you moan about is there to drain off the rainwater Barry. If they didn't slope, you would be complaining about the three inches of water you would be standing in to store your grocery's in the boot of your car! Anyway, keep up the show Barry, I love to see it! From Amsterdam on board of my boat The Lady of Life, stay safe and healthy Barry! Stephan.
Time to step up your game Barry, Get Shaddy up on the hard, Sand Blast, high zinc Primer, through hulls, prop shaft, the whole nine yards, Shaddy's given you her all, time to give back!!! Rigging, dodger, sails, lines not ropes etc etc etc:) Have a Merry Christmas Big Guy:)
An ex girl friend got me a class doing glass blowing for my 50th birthday. We got to make a couple of paper weights, a wobbly looking pint glass, and a vase each. Very fun time and interesting to see how quickly they move. The red headed gal in your video actually reminds me a lot of her.
Crazy Ducks & Rust sounds like a new name for White Shadow :p Great video Barry! Laughed so hard at the health food store visit story. I agree ... as we say in the USA .. America's favorite food is charred animal flesh! Yum! Thanks for sharing!
Car park drainage, no slope you'd be paddling in a flooded car park; on the bright side, you could go shopping in the dingy if it's parking lot is flooded. ;)
"Two English guys complaining about the cold must mean it *_IS_* cold!" 😂 ... at least one English guy used to the trades Latitude for some time now .... just saying. Keep on keeping on, Mr Seadog, and thanks for sharing!
Hello Barry, I've enjoyed your content for about a year now. I think when I first saw you it was upon your arrival in the Caribbean. After you went through the Panama Canal I decided to go back to the beginning when you bought your boat and drove down to Spain. I binge watched until I got back to where I left off with the boat in Panama and your visit back home in England. And I've kept up ever since. I'm 56 now and I've tried to put myself in your shoes. I've had a hip replacement which is fine now but I also need a knee replacement. As I like to tell people "my guns are still in good shape but my turret is shot!" Wishing you good health and safe journey. Bruce Charlotte NC USA
Thanks for taking the time to do this video very entertaining...good luck with your refit ps sort out your wiring.....Barry I think you will find that there was someone quite famous who was at your marina ,it's the youngest person to have sailed single handed around the world Laura Dekker ..... 16 years old when she finished quite amazing don't you think 👍
Hi Barry. Dremal is a nice bit of kit. Good buy. Your always helping people, wether it be shopping, or working on another boat, or whatever. You really are a Good Samaritan. You seem to have a thing for the birds. Steady now, the feathered kind. At sea you always had a friend stop to say hello. Now you have quackers. Stay safe and sane my friend. Have a lovely Xmas with your friends, and a happy new year, that’s if Covid allows.
Get some POR15 for that rust & be done with the rust forever. Not an advert as I use it myself on classic cars. It is also used here in South Florida in the marine environment. Enjoy your videos.
Hi Barry , super video like always and you are so right , there is no parking lot in the world (I live in Panama ) without a slope!! and not enough the carts have no brakes . I don't know about Covid around NZ but I see you guys gathering and not wearing mask etc. etc. Stay healthy and stay safe and want to see more videos from you. merry Christmas a very good new year and all the best!
Oh nooo you also got a friend uncle Bob! Btw the reason the carts are running backwards is if heavy rain it drains quicker away, however i agree its annoying as hell mate! Try making it to the car with a cart full of beers, you end up the front beers wanna run back to the shop while your curse trying to have the back end make it to the car! Glad to see you where having a very good time at the mall, when u run out of bacon at sea and you get here, thats just the best ever feeling eh? Nice video as always Barry, cant wait for the next!
I like to see people working. I can spend hours watching them. Keep posting your work. So, I does not feel lonely when I am working at my boat! Merry Christmas 🎅
It isn't moving the 3rd reefing point that'll help, it's adding a fourth reef for the worst conditions that's the best solution. Now you'll have too big a step between 2nd and 3rd. Knox-Johnston recommended adding a 4th reef years ago, rather than a separate track on the mast, and its good advice. Happy Xmas, Barry!
I like the car park rant haha. True, they are build to shed water...but..this one seems to slope back towards the shop. More investigation is needed....just kidding..get going on the projects. Cool to have new gear and a fresh look. Sail will help as well.l
You are supposed to take your old anchor shopping with you to keep the grocery cart from rolling away. Now that would be a sight. Great video, man. Cheers!
You explore, I stay at home. New Zealand what a great place, and find on small utility bays. Be sure to avoid shrink sail brand, and measure an exact fit. Tip off early and get up early. Good Job.
@@stuarthall3874 For the love of God do not tell that to the flat-earthers - they have enough problems already. Breathing unassisted is enough of a challenge for those guys.
You are spot on regarding supermarket car parks. There is a reason for this though it is called rain. They may slope but rarely flood or have vast puddles. Just a hint of the enormous amount of totally useless information my brain contains I know you are now in awe! :)
Your long thin sail shape is known as "high aspect ratio". Ergo a short fat sail is "low aspect". Same descriptions apply to plane wings, especially gliders. Have a hot sunny happy Christmas. JB.
Always good to get your updates. Boat maintenance never, ever, stops!! At least you are in a good place to do all that stuff and get her ready for when you next set sail on your world voyage. Have a good and safe Christmas and New Year.
Your right it is frustrating when you grocery cart rolls away, or one rolls into your vehicle. We are happy for them though, no water collects and makes your wheels an Island. You choose. I'll go with the convex lot. Not the swimming pool kind. love the way you think. Cheers
@12:00 Supermarkets sloping car parks: its because otherwise you would have lots of standing water each time it rained. With sloping, it runs off to the drainage.
Mr. Perrins I'm always amazed at how much you tackle on your own! The gas situation would have scared the crap out of me and I'm blown away that you are fixing all that yourself. I guess you have to be pretty self sufficient when you're out on the seas as well as in port. Cheers!
Baz those bits if they are 4mm are as cheap as chips on ebay, like around 6 of different shapes which is handy for $20 and using a high speed battery drill doesn't spread the chips as far and use Oxalic acid to clean them off and the other rust stains in minutes with minimal work just dilute it with copious amounts of fresh water wash off. Merry Christmas, I throw one down for ya!
Man, a sailboat sure is a lot of work! You'd better know what you're doing too, or else, I don't want to think about that! Happy and safe sailing to you, Barry!
Yeah supermarkets should have concave carparks, a couple of metres of concavity should do it. That way, if you park in the centre, your trolley can't go anywhere.
Ahoy Barry Just a friendly hello as I’ve followed you for the past year. You’ve got spunk I like that about you, I’m not one to give a damn about this age thing, just to let you “only” know I’m 75 and still under full sail! Just reading about the “rust” on your better half, I build my “steel” 39’ cutter rig with pilot house 38 years ago. How I’ve kept her looking pretty as ever (no tears of brown) my coating products have aways been from suppliers that deal with the chemical and oil industries (off shore) their products are designed for harsh environments, so they have worked for me. Never had any problem finding supplies and they have always been very helpful to me.You have a great boat she has served you well. Just me, but “steel” is my choice it has served me well. I’ve looked after her, she in turn has looked after me, as we have many more years head! Looking forward to following your adventures, as we creat ours. All the best for the new year. Half the guns in that shop were air-rifles - pellet guns. Looks like the ducks are used to being fed and demanding homage. Nice to see things getting fixed.
Thats alot of handbags, sailbags, sailcovers (repurposed) from that old sail....DAMN!!!!
The yellow sunglasses are an absolute stunner, try to keep the ladies at bay when wearing them.
I would love nothing more than to come half way around the world to help with boat projects for a few weeks.Good luck captain.

You need what we loved the use in the Navy, called a Needle Gun. Just hours of fun with one of those things, but it will descale that rust.

What a very nice place that you have found yourself to be in.

The reason car parks slope is for the storm drains. People would complain more if there were big puddles everywhere. Happy Christmas
should've took the old anchor to the supermarket and hooked it to your cart. : )
thankyou sir for another dandy one.

They rust on the bottom of the hole because the painter has a poor angle to apply the coating. Good you're using a rust converter. Merry Christmas!

Well done for getting that far Baza
sloping car parks for the rain , no cambers gives you wet feet
exactly, the problem is the cheapo malls dont put brakes on their trolleys
I think it's because the earth is curved. : )

It's automatic trolley reclaim. Left to themselves, they gravitate to one low spot!
Trolleys hate cars, they will attack unprovoked.
Sea Bear: a Vancouver is next to you!
These are great.
Watching you chip and grind rust with that vibrating toothpick tells me you are going to be in New Zealand for a long long time,
The rain rolls away too in car parks😎
You are spot on regarding supermarket car parks. There is a reason for this though it is called rain. They may slope but rarely flood or have vast puddles. Just a hint of the enormous amount of totally useless information my brain contains I know you are now in awe! :)
Easy answer Barry. So you're not standing in puddles after rain. Our supermarket has a flat car park that becomes a paddling pool.
Most excellent sir.

Thanks Barry, soon you will be at that 100k sub level. Stay safe and keep bringing the awesome content.
We do have gun shops Barry, not that many but they are there. Most of the rifles you showed were air rifles.
Hey topdog! Your anchor was fine! Some welding to thicken its ring and it would last forever.
Another awesome video.
New Zealand sounds like a good place to be right now. Take care Barry.

I like the look on your face of, "I have sailed around the world! Have you?" at 11:25.
Skip Novack suggests a 4th reef instead of a storm sail. Maybe leave your existing 3rd as 4th and add a 3rd 1/2 way from 2nd reef point?
Because the shopping centers also body shops to fix the bumps and scraps from the shopping carts
