Hello, I have just watched your video on the Mark from the States channel. Loved your tour, the architecture, all the snippets of history. I know it was a lot of work, but it was great - thank you!
Hello there @JJ-of1ir, Very pleased to bring a little of Norwich to your door. T'was very gracious of Mark from the States to feature it and how nice of you to drop by and to let us know you enjoyed it. All the best to you.
Like 52 👍 Hello from Naples, Florida. That is a beautiful city, indeed. Love, love the architecture. So many places and things to see. Thank you for sharing the footage and narration, have a great week. 💯
I spent 20years calling on my customers in Norwich every two weeks. I’m seeing, and learning, more from your walks than I ever did as a representative Thanks for posting, I absolutely love it Mike.
Hello my friend ! 👋 Thanks for this very nice visit of Norwich ! 👍 I know the name of this town from a movie I saw a few years ago. "Fighting with My Family". It tells the story of a wrestler and her journey to her WWE title. It was really interesting! Thank you for introducing me to this city! 😁 Merci !
Thanks for letting me know about the film Castel, I’ll look that up. You might also have heard of Alan Partridge, (played by Steve coogan) he makes lots of good humoured jokes about Norwich, I’m not sure if the humour translates well though?
Wow, the nostalgia! Thanks for this. I used to live off Elm Hill, in Waggon and Horse's Lane. There is (/ was?) a single cottage with a thatched roof in that area that was filmed as an exterior for the movie Stardust, featuring Clare Danes.
Hi there @hughtube5154, happy to bring back a good memory or two of your time living there. I didn't know that about the movie Stardust, thanks for dropping by.
Norwich is my favourite city ever! :) Lovely walk and narration! It's a shame this city doesn't really get mentioned in English tourist guides because they are definitely missing out!
Here at 3:41 minutes is the the shop my wife founded. Historically, her name was known by all as Angel. I must say, she truly is. This is why the shop was known as Angels Crystal shop.
My favourite city and I visit a couple of times a year to see family (I live in Portugal). Last time, I thought the centre was looking a bit down-at-heel. I remember being shocked at a soup kitchen set up outside the closed Debenhams late afternoon. There were around 20 homeless people grateful for some food. I'd never seen that before...yes, one or two homeless in doorways but the scale of this deprivation came as a shock in a city that I always regarded as quite prosperous. Modern Britain, I guess...
Hi there Roger, thanks for dropping by. Yes it's always a very sad sight to behold in the modern day. It just makes one very grateful for our comfortable lives for sure. We too love the city though, it has a lot still going for it. Despite the hard times in which we live. Hope you're enjoying life in lovely Portugal?
That was great! Informative and entertaining. I'm trying to figure out where in Britain to move next... Need to be near a city but far enough out to access nature (ideally water) and be away from crowds. I'm also a non-driver so need good transport links. Can you recommend any of your other videos to check out? Or even Norwich...? Thanks again, subscribed! 😊
Hi @choc_chip - thanks for stopping by. We have a "Britain" playlist which you could flick through - we tend to get drawn to characterful cities and towns ourselves, so that might be a good start. We personally really like Norwich, Brighton and Exeter...
One of the plus points for Norwich is that you don't have to travel far at all to be in the countryside or on water - I mean literally minutes. Norfolk is almost entirely countryside, with only 1 small city, and half a dozen major towns and of course a huge network of connected waterways - the Norfolk Broads.
🏰Hello how are you it looks like a very nice day for a walk. Very Beautiful and great to see people out and enjoying the great weather and whenever I visit England on Google Earth Maps and Street View I like going to Holmfirth and areas surrounding it where they filmed the British Sitcom the Last of the Summer Wine my favorite tv show from England and I like looking around the entire Yorkshire countryside and also London of course. Thank You for your videos and have a great week.🏰
Hello there Roger, ah yes we were lucky it was a very nice sunny day for the walk. How nice to hear you like seeing Holmfirth where they filmed the Last of the Summer Wine, we'd love to go and film there for you someday!
Hiya, nice of you to say hello! Did I say that Norwich Cathedral was in HP? I could well be wrong :) This site claims it was, but it doesn't say which film or what location it was used for www.number82theunthank.co.uk/norwich-film-location-guide/
Norwich City Football Club originally played in Sky Blue and White shirts and their nick-name was the 'Citizens'. Their manager cira 1900 was a keen canary breeder, which as you point out was common in the area thanks to earlier immigrant Flemish weavers. He always referred to his players as 'my little canaries' in public and after a couple of years that sort of stuck and took over as a nick-name. The team colours were changed to yellow to match the new nick-name.
How lovely to see a town/city that still has shops that are open, most towns these days consist of depressing boarded up shops. Not worth visiting anymore. Very refreshing. 🤗🙌❤
Quite so Monty, it's one of the main reasons why we love Norwich, it's so good to see things relatively thriving. Brighton and Leigh on sea are both still doing well, you might enjoy a visit to one of those sometime too. Thanks for dropping by.
Partially correct on Edith Cavell, she did treat soldiers from both sides, however she was tried and executed by the Germans for aiding Allied POW`s to escape in 1915.
Hello there, had been having questions about Norwich if you could answer them, that could be great. Is Norwich a safe place to live for people from South Asia, Like Pakistan?

Hello, Mike here, do drop by and say hello, I’d love to hear your own viewpoint and tips of this lovely City.
I’ll be enjoying revisiting this lovely city in full later tonight. I’m loving the narration and smooth camera work already.

Oh thanks for the low down, we'll just have to revisit and make sure we get plenty of other areas in. All the best to you.

Ooooh yes, and a fine city it is too.
Where you had your picnic is where they buried the dead from the plague. Thats why it's so high up from the path and walled
