I hate when people say that LOK has no martial arts. For 1, the fighting animation in the show Is amazing. And 2, As the show presents to us, the times are updated evolved and so are the fighting styles.
indeed.. in the 70 year gap btwn ATLA & LOK, the respective bending arts' fighting styles have broken away from tradition & gone on to become more unconventional. Case in point, the Metalbending Academy
Yeah. Even Iroh advised for more evolution in bending in a scene from ATLA. The nations are more together this time around since it’s been 70 years. Also we still see a lot of characters bend traditionally. Anytime I see people say no martial arts they have probending in their minds when that was supposed to be like boxing and was more simplistic/ practical due to the rules of the game. The only people we see use probending style after season 1 are Mako and Bolin considering they’ve played it for so long (that also helps with their teamwork) and Korra when she mixes it in with traditional bending.
I always loved Korra and she remains an absolute powerhouse, but I always wondered what it would be like if Mako taught her to Lightning Bend. Not that I think she needed it, but imagine her utilizing electricity to accompany her recent development in metal bending.
I hate it when people say that Legend Of Korra doesn't show the old bending techniques, when that's not true. Yes, bending has evolved throughout the decades and now most benders have learned some kind of style that benders use in pro-bending, but there are still a lot of examples of characters who use the traditional bending style, like the older characters (Tenzin, Zaheer, Kya etc) and now we also have the more evolved modern bending style that takes a lot of inspiration from each element bending style, just like how some characters in ATLA used different bending styles from other elements. Both shows have shown a lot of characters using things from each element, but Lok haters refuse to acknowledge this fact.
zaheer actually has a different style. because he didn't have traditional airbending teachings, he incorporated his martial art skills into his bending style. although he may have incorporated some airbending techniques into his martial arts since he studied airbending history and lore.
I do MMA so personally I loved the more modern style of bending brought into LoK. Which never really bothered me bc time goes on and things change. I put that in one of my other comments that people try to compare the shows all the time. AtLA is one of the greatest if not the greatest show. People need to enjoy them both in their own rights. They're different shows in different time periods, so things will be different. Even how the characters act. Like people get mad at how her character is. Like her character is the definition of a teenager. Anger issues, impatient and thinks they always know better, make dumb decisions under pressure. People don't make sense
In the episode of Korra when the villains they capture Korra in the cave and they are putting her poison while Korra she fight though poison in the episode a coolest and awesome moment ever
Its fast but I dont think it is as strong as ozais, irohs, or azula because when he shot lightning at amon he got up quick. And it was like it never happend but when azula shot zuko he was knocked to the ground and could not get up
@@andre2706 I think the faster you do the movements for lighting bending the weaker the "charge" hence why Mako's lightning bending is not as harmful as Azula's most of the time bc his intent is to only knockout his target like he did with the car chase against the Equalists on S1 E08. With Amon, his movement is being restricted by bloodbending, so he can't do the longer "charge" needed even if his intent is to kill Amon with lightning. The first (and only) time we actually see Mako lightning bend with the same or closer amount of power as Azula's is at the S4 E13 when he has to overpower the spirit vine-battery of the Colossus, and you can actually see him doing the longer and more drawn out version of lightning bending. Because he needs to generate more power than the shorter and faster bursts he comes up with most of the time, hence why the his movements is closer to the orginal in that scene.
The flashback with Aang and Yakone was pretty cool. Mostly cause of seeing Aang in action as an adult. It was also heartwarming for me to see him bring Korra’s bending back.

I feel like one of the reasons people hate LoK so much is because they constantly try and compare to AtLA when nothing will ever compare to that show. That being said, Korra is fantastic in it's own rights. People say her feats of power never matched to Aang's, I would say she surpassed them honestly. Beat a blood bender with only airbending, beat a giant spirit dark avatar after her connection to the past avatar's were severed or maybe it was before. Either way that's an amazing fucking feat. Almost killed the Red Lotus in a matter of seconds by herself in the avatar state after the poison was injected into her. I was able to keep up with an almost kill Zaheer for a excellent amount of time before the poison really got to her, and that was on her own strength and will power alone in the avatar state, no past lives or anything to help. AND she also bended a giant spirit cannon beam
It’s too bad there won’t be a third series. I would’ve loved to see the Avatar in the modern day and how Korra’s actions had many repercussions in the future. I also would’ve loved to see new forms of bending, like heatbending, glassbending, telekinesis, dual bending, and bending arts adapted through modern technology.
