Actually released 8 January 1975, Elvis’s 40th birthday. I had saved pocket money and my mum bought it for me on release day. I loved it and played it repeatedly. I have, I think, 10 different vinyl pressings of this one.
Hi mark great review once again i Love its midnight and a soft spot for honky tonk angel I would say it isn't one of Elvis strongest albums but still some gems on there long live the king
Help me will be played at my funeral. I got this vinyl when it was released and really love honky tonk woman and talk in yourself. Its midnight was the 1st song on the B side
Great album. Strong tracks when you consider it was the tail end of the Stax sessions output. Stone cold classics on this album including Promised Land, If You Talk In Your Sleep and It's Midnight. All songs he would occasionally perform in his live shows at the time. Great review.
My Top 5 Elvis 70's Records: Elvis Country I'm 10.000 years old TODAY Promised Land That's The Way It Is Having Fun With Elvis On Stage* * 99,9% of the so called "Elvis Fans" hate this Record! I'm not! I guess only a few "Elvis Fans" knowning about the real Reason/Background/Release about this Vinyl Record! The Album was first released on Col. Parker's own "Boxcar" Label for Elvis' Vegas Summer Festival in 1974! It was a kind of a "Charity" and not for Elvis' income! A year later, RCA made a Deal with Parker to produce that Recordings on the RCA Label and also promote this Record on the Back-Cover of some worldwide RCA Releases of "Promised Land" but not every Country has "Having Fun..." on their RCA Catalogue and on Back-Covers! But that's another complex Elvis Story! Thanks Mark and always with a nice positive twinkle😉my friend
Hello 🤗 @haraldtrittner4396 my dear ELVIS buddy. Love your list of top 5 , here is mine 1. RAISED ON ROCK, 2. MOODY BLUE, 3. THAT'S THE WAY IT IS, 4. PROMISE LAND, 5. ELVIS COUNTY. And was wondering if you have the soundtrack to the Walt Disney movie Lilo & Stitch it is full of ELVIS songs, I have a copy on cd. Thanks and have a great weekend.
The title track, Promised Land, has always been my most favorite track on the album. I like If You Talk In Your Sleep, probably second. I always thought that particular song would have made for a great theme song for a crime drama series.
2 singles off the album promised land/it's midnight and Help Me/if you talk in your sleep. Promised land made the top 10. Favourite tracks Promised Land, if you talk in your sleep least fav Help Me
