Yeah thanks Jeffrey, it’s a case of not being able to produce weekly or even monthly content that suits the RUclips algorithm so I either change to short simple to edit stuff for more views or do what I enjoy making for less… I have pay per view movies on Vimeo that are a step above this if you’re interested
Mike, absolutely stunning fish. Had to watch some of your videos again, getting pumped up for our trip together on the 20th March, looking forward to all that we will learn with you. Cheers Mike
Stephent Wolfe thanks mate I just edit what I like in the style I like and hope others like it too. Seems to be working ok. That said, there is place at times for some slo-mo etc. if it is there to add to the story and not dominate it...
Just stunning fish with some real shoulders. One of the best collection of very large browns that I've seen in quite some time. What a great opportunity to fish over such magnificent fish. Thanks for the video - good luck to you & Hans .... take care.
Hey Mike, Thanks for sharing this incredible video, man Ive never seen such big fat well fed fish and early season to boot.Class Fly fisherman and class wild trout and great view of the snow capped Southern Alps
I am watching this and tying # 14 PT (American) with 2.8mm tungsten beads and a red hotspot. It's been a cold wet spring here in CT and with the State on lockdown, I can't even go to my favorite fly shop so I am making do with what I have. Needs to warm up a little and the flows on the streams I fish, need to drop a little. Should be great by mid- may!
Thanks for making the video available to us, really appreciate it. I had my first trip to NZ in January, we flew Queen's gig equipment from Japan, so I had a few days fishing near Twizel with a friend from the UK. Great country and fish, I'll be back!
Really enjoyed that Mike! You encapture all we love about flyfishing and make viewers feel like we're along on the adventure. Awesome! Oh, and Hans had a huge smile on that first fish eh! Haha
Foragefarmer yeah there were some lovely fish. Might do a 'pay per view' as I have a big collection of epic fish caught this season that make these guys look small!
@@mikefsher I would happily contribute to such an endeavor given the incalculable amount of pleasure I have gleaned from your previous videos. Having giant trout to catch doesn't hurt but, your videography, editing, and story telling is peerless.
Good stuff in tricky conditions. I fished that spot 3 times this season after it had a lot of pressure. It was fun seeing such enormous fish (one or 2 must have been 20lb) but was only able to secure one 14lber on a size 16 EHC.....could not believe the condition of these mouse eaters. Be interesting to see what they will be like next season with less international pressure.
Thanks mate, I guided a client onto an 18lber in there along with four other huge fish that day. I only fished there a couple of times myself... They will likely be a lot skinnier without the mice next season.
Very nice film, Mike, Nans, Hans. I hope the late season travel ban didn't hurt you guys too bad. I'd like to come back for an early season try, maybe next year. Video quality is superb.
another stunning video as always, them browns are absolute tanks, its always amazing to thinks browns of that size would only take size 18, continue to stay safe as always and look forward to your next upload.
Cheers mate, yeah pretty locked in on that trip. Mt next might have to be a pay per view (small cost as i'd have normally put it on DVD) as it's about catching much bigger fish than these) so we'll see how it goes... Gotta recoup some dosh in these tough times.
@@mikefsher that wouldn't bother me the slightest mate, Id pay to view your videos any time if I have too, I love your content and always enjoy seeing the pop up notification of a mikefsher upload, brilliantly edited films and the rivers you go too, what can I say...
Un grand merci pour ces magnifiques vidéos, c'est à chaque fois un grand plaisir !!! Do you see sometime some Kaki in this kind of river bed ? I spend a couple of months in NZ in 2009 but unfortunatly no fishing trip for me, only birdwatching !!! But is was great and definitly I miss New Zealnd !!! Thank's a lot for yor marvelous videos !
Great work Mike, thanks for sharing. Some stonking fish, well done to you both! I can relate to the spotting difficulties on that day as my local water is a large freestone river with no close vegetation to cut the glare as seen in this production. A great environment to hone the spotting skills. Keep up the awesome work!
You do great work so I'm sure you are already aware of this but wanted to through it out there anyway. You mentioned glare at one point and not being able to see the fish. If that's an issue you want to address look into getting a polarizer, works same as sun glasses, cuts down glare, can do a lot with them for video and photos!
My daughter lives outside of Napier, among vineyards and a reserve, and the house she shares there is inundated with mice, has it been a good year for mice patterns with you? Gorgeous video as always Mike, great stuff!!
Simon Smith cheers! The mice died back a lot a month or two back and I haven’t been out of course with the virus... I tend to like sight fishing, so don’t mouse fish much. That said, I caught one on a mouse pattern right on dusk that went over 18lbs...
nick wolstenholme cheers and you’d be pretty close. I have a shitload of footage of at least a dozen captures that make all of these look small - might be a ‘pay per view’ release as there will be hundreds of hours in production
mikefsher well that would be money well spent as far I am concerned!! I’m a long way from your beautiful rivers - in London - but my sister lives in Blenheim. I fished there for 6 months back in 2001 (and fruit picked), I still think of it every day.
Your videos are great, I’ve been watching them for years imagining what it’s like to catch one of these massive New Zealand trout. I also make fly fishing films, you should check them out if you have the time!
I can't believe that you have had over 26K views and only 380 likes. You get to live and work in trout heaven. Keep them coming.

Fabulous fish Mike. Great coverage of some of life's best moments...
Thanks so much yeah was a fun day out.

Wow...great film...fantastic fish! Well done! Greets from Bavaria, Germany
Beautiful fish and fantastic viewing thanks for sharing Mike
Professional Touch Detailing no worries thanks for taking the time to comment
No slow-mo’s, fast cuts, played out underwater releases. Raw footage and sounds - the best out there. Appreciate the hard work and what you showcase

Looks like the fish will manage the mouse proliferation.
Oh my god. This is absolutely stunning!

Exceptional fishing, even by your standards surely. I can’t believe how much stick you give your fish on size 18’s. Strong hooks !

I've been watching your videos for years and I'm always in shock. You make the best fishing videos by far, and I watch a lot of fishing vids.
Chris Lenz such a nice comment and I'm so happy they make you happy. Humbled.
Yet again mike, another cracking video, brilliant work showing what NZ has to offer in its backyard.
Ben92white thank you so much for the kind thoughts
They were just stunning fish you both caught and the scenery is absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing.

David Prange yeah we lost 6 weeks so not ideal but better than a lot of folks I'm sure. Book in buddy, we'll be here!
As always Mike top photography and it’s nice to see you fish for a change and that last fish was wonderful unfortunately you did not give the weight.
Cheers buddy! Not sure but it was over 10lb.. A lot of big fish since this October trip...
Beautiful mike we will fish soon as it all blows over 🙏🎣👌🏼

Awesome fishing epic vid🔥

Love your videos. This one is no exception. Question: what reel was Hans using?
schmoonkie thanks so much, he was using the new Lamson Speedster 'S'
Are u catching these fish on small pheasant tail and hare and copper nymphs
No. We tie nymphs to match what we know are in each river we fish, changing colour size and profile according to what we see...
Great video as always.
How do you like the new Simms G4 PRO Jacket?
Peter Hellström best I’ve owned!
That last fish is the stuff of dreams. I don’t wanna put a number on it but would you say 11lbs?

Great vid! Are you using 6wt rods? Do you like the Scott Radian?
Michael Woehrl 5&6 was here and love the Scott Radians, my favourite rod and perfect for what we do here. Cheers!
@@mikefsher Thanks for the response, Uncle Sam sent me 1200.00 bucks today,I think a new Radian is in my future! Great channel!
Michael Woehrl mate you can't go wrong, if it suits your waters - I'd go the 9'5wt
@@mikefsher That's my plan. I have a S4 I like but I have the itch to get a new one. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Michael Woehrl the S4 is a nice rod but the Radian is far more crisp, subtle and a much lower swing weight. A different class of rod altogether
Awesome love yeah vid. What was the size of the last fish you got it was a beast of a fish.
Cheers!
Hello from Central Wyoming U.S. What weight Radian are y'all fishin? Love the 5wt I've been fishing, but you must be fishing a 6?
Joe Lefevre 5&6 wts here buddy
@@mikefsher Sick. Such amazing rods.
Joe Lefevre true that
Hey what polarized glasses do you guys run for spotting fish? Any particular tints or brands that work better than others?
Ronan Wiebe Smith low light ignitors all the way buddy
