I noticed some stuff (again). If you hit Mr Crawling when he tries to hide you from Mr Scarletella, despite all his kindness, he leaves you, which both says that he is realistically kind (not sacrificing himself for some stranger who hurts him and doesn't want to be helped) and that you have hardly any relationship at this point. Later he isn't leaving you in danger but can leave if you ask him to. In the last chapter, I think, expecially if we meet Mr Stitch, Mr Crawling isn't leaving and it's not up for discussion. The closer you are, the more he is willing to be there for you. Mr Gap does the same. He starts with his normal requests, then he helps us for a quite predictable reward, then he makes himself useful by silently agreeing to hide us and probably spying on Scarletella ("me research" which later brings info about his body before the final battle), but still can abandon us or even possibly kidnap at this point ("Lost Little Me" and one of interpretations of "Return"). If we survive past this point, I think we can't get killed by him? (Maybe I'm wrong.) And later he even finds us just to share what makes him proud and seek our approval. And in the ending "Best of Mr Gap" he truly reaches his peak: 1) He follows us like he does if we return to the human world. But he doesn't abandon us. If we can't run or fight ourselves, he steps in. 2) He openly goes against other entity. Yes, he already saved us from a giant (who was too huge to even notice him) and hid us from Scarletella (who didn't know we were there). Now he whisks us away right before Scarletella's eyes. If Scarletella sees him (and there is a chance that he does, cause if I'm correct he can reach over the text box in "Scarlet end"), that's a risk. I mean, Scarletella is still alive and searching and now he has questions for Mr Gap, first: where we are. And unlike all those clumsy bodies around, Scarletella has some of the same powers + uses illusions + can't be hurt without breaking umbrella which Mr Gap would first need to reach with his hand and Mr Gap can be hit physically if caught off-guard. 3) There is no option to refuse his help. He decided he saves us and he does it. 4) He doesn't ask for anything before doing it and not because he was caught off guard and just went with it. He had enough time to observe and make a decision. 5) The usual request afterwards doesn't feel like it's for saving us. (He always names the price first.) He just does his usual thing and you can't even die here, I guess he and mc silently understand at this point that they both won't change: he'll ask, she'll refuse, he won't give up. 6) He wants a hug after this shared victory ("go f yourself, umbrella guy!"). Second time (first was bragging) when he simply wants something very human from us. And if we don't trust him he is sad! Bonus observation: I've always thought he shows Scarletella a middle finger. I saw someone mention that he actually doesn't and someone else say that he "changes a slide". I looked closer and - he holds black background like a slide between his fingers, and we see very well that he kinda makes a gesture towards Scarletella - but the middle finger is behind the black screen and if Scarletella can't see through it, then he doesn't see that middle finger! He wants to make fun of Scarletella so that he doesn't see it XDDDDD
Okay, I definitely agree and have seen all this HOWEVER. I am always so confused as to why he stays with us if we bonk him in the head with a crowbar???? Idk isn't that MORE hurtful than just pushing him away, like when Mr. Scarletella came? Like I totally agree and I love the parallel with Mr. Gap (just further backs my theory that Yatsunagi is sooooo good at making character progression) AND OMG YOU'RE RIGHT!!! Scarletella won't be able to see the middle finger!!!! It's like he's trying to make us smile and say fuck you to him, but also protect himself just in case Scerletella ever comes for him. It's a win win for him XD
@@veraiszeI rewatched that Scarletella scene - we hit him very loudly and he keeps silence for a moment then says it's painful. Apparently he gets fed up really quickly if those he tries to help treat him poorly x) I think he was okay with it the first time because he realized we were terrified of him and it was self-defense. The next time we do it we have no reason to hit him: he already showed us he is friendly, he is obviously trying to tell us something and if we are scared we can just back away. Hitting him (and hitting strongly judging by the sound) is simply rude and cruel at this point. Honestly I think the same about trying not to provoke Scarletella too much. Dude already provoked him enough by taking us away though x) This little detail on its own already speaks a lot about Mr Gap's personality. If he appeared in one scene and it was this one, his character would still shine like a diamond through this one gesture x)
@ЕленаКим-ц2т That makes sense! Mr. Crawling looked REALLY hurt and I felt so awful Also Mr. Gap is so cute and is also very calculating yeah, it's so interesting to see how he manages to help us and get in our good graces while also covering himself from Scarletella's wrath

@@veraisze Maybe it's a randomly scripted event? Or maybe it has some hidden condition like the ending 8. For example, it has to be the second time he saves you from Scarletella. LOOOOL it makes everything just perfect The hidden content we didn't know we needed
@ЕленаКим-ц2т I just rewatched my first playthrough of the game and yeah!!!! It's not there!!!! Idk if it's a hidden thing because those kinds of things are hard to implement, maybe Yatsunagi updated the game to include that? In any case it's so funny and I love it so much.
