I might be a little over dramatic but i think you just saved my life lol! I've been 18 months without a dryer and I'm ordering these parts today :) Thank you so much!
I've had this video saved for months, but last week I finally bought the heater and installed it. The worry of having to go another year without a dryer just melted away when I saw the orange glow in the back of the dryer after running it for a few minutes. Thank you for sharing this DIY. No more drives to the laundromat with bags of quarters
Best repair video ever! Straight to the point, solid “replace all parts” advice with kit, sped up video and only talking when needed with no silly music. 😊
I'm hoping it works I just now ordered this new kit listed and 1st one priced at 58.00 from Canada and said 1 is still available in stock but when trying to buy it , said something is wrong with the order I'm trying to buy so went with the other option of the same item and got charged 79.00 (20.00) price difference for the same exact thing !!!
Awesome video, have a Kenmore that takes forever to get dry like 3-5 business days to dry clothes 😢 every time I check it’s like a moist dry will doing what you just did would make it dry better..!?!
@johnathon Wheeler my whirlpool washer dryer combo says 120/208V 16A 60Hz 120/250v 21A 60Hz Model LTE5243DQ8 Is the kit that you used compatible with my machine? If not, can you please send me the link for a kit that goes with it.
These work without a vent? Mines has a vent, do i have to hook it up or can i just omit it? I am ordering the kit today to see if i can repair it this week i been a month without a dryer not fin i must say. Thank for this great video i will share the outcome 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the video. I have this unit and need to clean out a bunch of lint from the lint housing chamber behind the actual lint trap that built up from a clogged dryer duct (two dead birds got trapped in the duct). Do I need to remove all the fuses once I take the back panel off in order to get at housing chamber or no? Looks like I might have to from your video.
Hi, just watched your video but mine makes a very heavy noise and was wandering if you had a video on how to replace the rollers. I think this is what is making a lot of noise. We have the same exact stackable washer/ dryer. Thank you in advance.
Hi! nice video ! but I can't see how you connect the element 3977767 to the heating element, is it possible to see a final shot of how it holds up (mine is loose 🤷🏼♀️) thanks
Actually the thermostat part 3977767 (made to connect 3 wires) cannot replace the thermostat of the older model Whirlpool YLTE5243DQ0 (which connects with 4 wires). The right thermostat part for that model is WP696818. No wonder part 3977767 did not fit 🙂
I can see a LOT of lint behind the front vents of the dryer. Is there a way to remove that panel (with the vertical slits) and clean it all out?? Thank you. I have looked everywhere & cant' seem to find the procedure.
How do I know exactly which parts to get? From the model number or do I need parts numbers from the parts themselves or what?? I just don't wanna get the wrong kit from Amazon
Great video. Changed everything out and get heat again. But, I am getting the strong electric burning smell-guessing the is normal with the new heating element?
What model number is the washer and dryer that you did this repair on I have the same looking thin twin model number lte5243dt3 was wondering if it's the same model?
My kit from amazon was a little different. I've done the heating element and those wires. Now the second piece you replaced..... what is that called? My kit didn't come with that and when I try to get continuity on the two central terminals, it's not sounding. I'll put the back back on and see if it works anyway. The heating element still had continuity but I changed it anyway.
I received 2 different fuses in my amazon kit, I replaced the old with the new one that looks like it. All wires were hooked up correctly to the two other controls. I receivd the red pigtail wire with 2 terminal ends and extra screws and terminals, but didn't see an area to use it. I still don't have heat. 'maybe the switch on the front of the dryer, or a switch on the motor needs repair? Any suggestions? thanks.
@Johnathon Wheeler from what I seen no it was not, I know I swapped everything what is the little red wire that came in the kit that I ordered from your link?
Thx for this. Where can I find the fuse itself on that dryer? I’ve checked the back as in this video but also looked passed the front panel. Can’t find it. Driving me crazy.
Your video was so helpful! And I like your presentation - you moved right along and said what needed to be said, not just droning on and on and on. I have one of those stackables in the apt I'm renting and the L.L. does not believe in the reimbursement principal, but I was wondering if you could tell me how to stop the washer doing the fap fap fap unbalanced dance. I will go as far as taking every soaking thing out of the washer, replace it with even precision all around and sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.
I was getting ready to be so proud of myself, when I finished the project, the dryer still did not getr hot. I changed only the element. This is a rental, and when the dryer broke the landlord wouldn't replace it so I bought just the element and hoped that would be it.
Hey Jonathan I think I did exactly what you did and it heats up again but now the dryer stays hot all day not sure if I did something wrong when its off it makes a tick noise every 2 minutes what you think?
From what I understand the dryer only heats up during the heat cycle and what commands it essentially is the heating fuse If you have a blown heating fuse, it will either always run hot or never turn hot. If you had replaced the fuse like in this video, it's possible you didn't address the underlying issue which is a clogged / poor airflow on the exhaust system You will need to thoroughly clean your exhaust system to eliminate the underlying cause of your fuse overheating and blowing out That's my best guess at least
HELP! so I did this and now when I start it a huge spark goes in the back and blows a fuse. I am not sure what I did wrong? I thought maybe I had two wires crisscrossed but after I switched them it did the same thing so now Idk what to do?
Hello, i know this is an old video, but i have the same unit expect my is a gas, so this video does not apply, correct? You never mentioned if you were working on an electric unit or gas
Hello, most likely not the heating element. Most likely it will need a dryer rebuild kit. The kit comes with, new rollers,(felt and plastic), belt and bearing. Try that, its around $100 on amazon
Your video was helpful but the thermostat on my dryer is 120v and the one that come with the kit is 240v when I replaced it it was like an electric stove and it smelled like something was burning.
I have the same model. Did you end up getting yours fixed? When pressing the start button, the dryer buzzes and attempts to turn on but then it gives up and stops making a sound. What issue did you have?
By the way, the kit cost me 27.00usd on amazon, so that was a steal! I love an affordable DIY
I might be a little over dramatic but i think you just saved my life lol! I've been 18 months without a dryer and I'm ordering these parts today :) Thank you so much!
Not really dramatic. I'm pricing Bosch and Asko ventless dryers and it's THOUSANDS to replace this Whirlpool unit. You're in the right to be happy. :)

Excellent video. I can't believe these dryers work without a vent. I have the same unit in my apartment and I am amazed at how well they work.
Great video! It worked perfect. I just repaired my dryer. Thanks
Mine is gas where do you get the kit for mine
Now waiting for it to be shipped fingers crossed it works
Try a dryer cleaning kit from amazon
I’m repairing the General Electric stackable unit- looks just like this one
No confusion just works.

i would put a rebuild kit on it, new roller and bearing, that should make it work better. Also make sure when you take it apart, clean the lint out!
This is sooooo helpful! I have the exact same one
Thank you from an ameture in Maggie Valley

Looks easy enough. Is it obvious to see if the element is broken? I’d like to take it apart and confirm first, before ordering the kit.
yes, you can see thats its broken by looking at it
Do you have a video to show how to remove (disassemble) the washer/dryer control panel? I need to open that but don't know how, can you instruct?
Hi, just watched your video but mine makes a very heavy noise and was wandering if you had a video on how to replace the rollers. I think this is what is making a lot of noise. We have the same exact stackable washer/ dryer. Thank you in advance.
This one has a rear bearing and front felt roller. You can but a rebuild kit with everything you need!

Most likely, did you clean all the lint out?
Hi
My kanmore dry heating system does not work properly. But the dryer is working properly.
How can I fix it.
Where's the thermal fuse?
I have a GE laundry center combo, model GUD27ESSMWW. I have no heat. Is the repairs different or the same?
Can you make a videos explain why could be the reason that my dryer it doesn't spin, same kind of stackable please. Thank you sr.
What model number is the washer and dryer that you did this repair on I have the same looking thin twin model number lte5243dt3 was wondering if it's the same model?
If it looks the same, its probably built the same.
What’s the extra two outlet for. I bought the whole package.

I think the thermal fuse/link is out on mine, swapped elements and sensors to no avail
Thank you! This cleared up a lot!!
Hi there, can you please let me know how can I find the element or all those pcs for model YLTE5243dq0
How do you replace washer knob that is broken, I can’t figure out how remove face panel? I can take off all knobs easily Except left washer knob.
it the dryer door too tight, how to fix it? thanks
Can you show how to fix the drum in the washer and how to repair the washer when it’s not running a full cycle
Thanks, helped me tremendously.
Thank you so much for this saved 300$

Hi Johnathon,
I have to dry my clothes like time before they are completely dry. Would that be the heating element?

Great to the point video, thanks John.
I replaced the element worked great after 30 loads but doesn't heat anymore. What is the issue?
might be worth getting a appliance repair person to look at it or get a new machine.
Lint trap is full maybe? And it blows the thermal fuse... just a guess

Did you ge tit fixed? Always a good idea to double check your model number with appliancepartspros.com
I don’t understand why you removed something off heating element if you’re putting all new parts on. Around 2:42 in the video.
I bet he wanted to check out if the element broke
Excellent!!
Where it heats up at it was orange from the heat is that normal
yep, you should be able to see the heating element glowing.
