Did I just hear a reference to NPS industrial? I did... didn't I?

The name for that type of sifting device is called a trommel.

Do you provide plans or details on how to build this? Nice to see one actually running, and camera work that doesn't make you dizzy or nauseated. Our community garden has some compost bins, and this would be a great way to sort it. How would we add a gas engine instead of electric (no electricity on site), and could wheels be added to move it around on rough ground? Is it two part (lower/upper) so it could be broken down to move to another site?

Millard, We are working on one of these Trommel builds if you are still interested in making one and following along. We should be finishing up posting the parts acquisitions and starting on the screen build within a week or so.

Please send me a link to your "build" video. I need to build a separator that will separate a minimum of 3 sizes, 1/4", 1 1/2" , 3" and larger. Any ideas and suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

Excellent design since it makes it easy to collect in transportable devices both the sifted media and the more coarse items (rocks, clods, etc). Your screen appears to be extra fine. Did you put two layers? And how did you attach the screen to the rims? Have you had much trouble with the belt stretching?

I think they did add a second finer mesh inside the other mesh. The one we are working on we attached the screen to the rims using zip ties, but I think we will use something like 24 Gauge Galvanized Wire when we need to replace the screen.
We should have videos showing how we attached our screen up in a week or so. Here is a link if you want to check it out.

    Jakie obroty ma to urządzenie?

Thanks for posting this. Your drum rotation is too fast. It should be turning 25-30 rotations per minute. It looks like you are using 4 inch pulleys on the motor and to drive the drum. If you use 2 inch pulleys, that should slow it down.
