Ok guys, people keep asking me for links to where i buy my oil, nitro and methanol from. While I can put links, etc, it will be pointless as a lot of people who whatch this are from the northern hemisphere, and the shops that I get the oil, nitro and methanol from cant send it overseas for obvious reasons. So those wanting to get the items required are going to have to source these themselves.
I've been mixing my own FAI fuel, which is 80% methanol and 20% castor oil. I have noticed the oil will settle out after a week or so. I discovered this when an engine I was testing kept quitting as soon as I disconnected the glow plug power. I sucked all the fuel back out of the tank into the 1L container I use, gave it a good shaking, then refilled and, viola, the engine ran fine after that.
Yes you can use just methanol and castor oil. Just remember that without nitromethane you wont have that power, plus it can make it a little harder to tune.
Hi Gav, can we use like 0w50 penrite or mobil synth oil.? or is the blue synth you have just for making nitro fuel, does it have a grade like 5w30 for eg.? thank you for sharing how to make this cool fuel.God bless

When it comes to oil you need an oil suited for model engines as synthetic oil used in real cars for example won't be able to cope with the high rpm of a model engine as most car engines operate on average between 800-2500rpm at most. I've been using coolpower oil for years as they've been making oil and fuel for model engines since before I got into the hobby.
Engine motor oil doesn't mix with methanol. Neither does your weed wacker two stroke oil. You need two stroke oil that is suitable for methanol. Many brands out there
All of my engines except Saito four strokes will run quite well on 17% Klotz Super Techniplate to 83% methanol. I only have 2 Saito engines and I just buy 10% nitro fuel for them.
The large measuring cup/jug I use is a 1 liter size, but you can buy larger or smaller ones. The mini measuring cup i use for measuring the castor oil is a 50 milliliter size cup.
With that mix you will need 100ML of nitromethane 180ML of oil and the rest is methanol for 1 liter of fuel. Now if you were to use straight synthetic or castor oil that would be 180ML, however if you were making a synthetic and castor mix say 13% synthetic and 5% castor, you will need 130ML of synthetic oil and 50ML of castor oil, then add your 100ML of nitromethane and then fill the rest with methanol to make 1 liter of fuel.
So a 100ml of oil and 30 of castor? Now say i wanted to make 25% nitro 9% castor/synthetic, so id use 250ml nitromethane, and the rest i went blond lol please help
@@lIPunto40lI If it were to be a total 9% oil content and be a synthetic/castor mix, it would be 90 milliliters of oil, so if it were to be half synthetic and half castor for example, you would need 45 milliliters of synthetic oil and 45 milliliters of castor oil to get 90 milliliters of oil, and that will make your 9% oil content. So to make a 25% nitro mix, you will need 250ml of nitro, 45ml of synthetic, 45ml of castor and the rest is methanol (To make a one liter amount).

I do the same thing before I drive or fly. I always give my fuel bottle a good shake before I use it.
