When we moved into our current home 30 plus years ago there was ivy ALL over the north side of our house , growing along the ground and in spots growing up the side of the house. My parents came for a visit and while I was at worked ripped all of the ivy out of the ground and off of the house, of course with our permission. We put an addition with a basement on the north side of our house so of course the ground was all torn up so the ivy should have all been killed right? Well it’s making a come back on the north east side of our addition! We never go over there so I hadn’t noticed it’s come back but the other day I noticed it! I THINK that I may have to use roundup on it to hopefully finally get rid of it. Don’t get me wrong it’s very pretty but a beast is a beast! 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃
I know what you mean! Trumpet vine has taken over our house, yard, gardens. I finally got it cut down this spring but I should have done it three years ago when we moved in! It was a BEAST and seeded and rooted everywhere. You can’t roundup all the hundreds of sprouts in the lawn! Or the ones coming up next to my plants. There’s huge thick roots spread yards away from the mother and they just keep coming up! I’m so tired of digging them up lol. 😢
...20+ years ago, when I moved to MY house, I encouraged ivy to grow up a maple tree. What was I thinking?! 🤦🏼♀️ It is a noxious weed now. It has covered a nearby fence for yards. I feed birds, and mice live in the ivy, with the handy food source close by. The only good thing about it is, it blooms this time of year and draws all kinds of pollinators. It then forms berries which then sustains the birds in the winter. It is also much higher than the fence, which gives great (legal) privacy; 6 ft-only fence height is allowed by city ordinance. Please know, tho', I am against the encouragement thereof. 🤷🏼♀️🥴🌱👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^= [MD 6b]
Understand. My bro has it growing in the back. Came frm the garden center back there. He keeps spraying, cutting, etc. They refuse to clean it up on their side. Saying its not their prob. Even called the city for help. They came out, sd they couldnt do anything abt it. So...the battle continues with getting rid the ivy.
Love watching you. I have learned so much. I live in a small town in New York but visit North Carolina often. We lived in NC for 5 years and made dear friends. They are still a couple hours away, but I am going to get over your way one of these visits.
I like the simplicity frame of mind. The baskets look very nice. Great trick with the mums. So glad you said that about the ivy. When we move into our house they had ivy growing up walls and it was a challenge to finally get rid of it all. Lots of bugs and critters living in it. Blah! 😂
GOOD MORNING JENNY!! Question: Do you sell seeds for some of your plants, or is it a way to get them? Like the Miss America Mustard? Everything looks so wonderful. Fall is my favorite season.
If you plant the mums in the ground after they have finished flowering this time, will they come back next year? And if so when will they bloom? I’m in 7b East Tennessee
Is that a humming bird feeder on the window above the hay rack? If so, where did you get it? As always, love your designs you do in your planters and garden!
Is it a cute southern thing to say "pay what you get for?" (14:12) or perhaps a wonderful "Ginnyism"? Very pretty and great education as always. Thank you.
Hi! Love the baskets and hiding the mum containers! I looked up your tool belt via your link, but I am not sure which one you use. None of them looked like they would hold all of the stuff that you carry in yours. Probably, I am missing something, like stretching, etc. Is there a number for the one you use? Thanks so much!
Where did you get your gardening belt? Looking for something nice like that to hold my felcos and other little tool! P.s watching in Montreal Canada.🇨🇦
Pulled out Supertunias full of aphids yesterday, sprayed soil and all around to kill what's left, hopefully. Can I plant anything for Fall in this area of my garden? Zone 6 Is there a way to keep aphids from overwintering?
Proven Winners Premium All Purpose Potting Soil, is what she uses & recommends. I used it this summer in all my containers & it made a huge difference! I ordered from Amazon because my local nursery doesn't carry it!
Again I assert, as I did in the spring, the Sun King is a bad design under the basket. The basket is completely overwhelmed. Put the pretty basket of lovely flowers somewhere else where you can see it. There should be 18 inches of house clapboard siding showing between the two plantings. It still looks silly and the effort is wasted.
Jenny, I love your window basket & container plantings!
The way you plant is your style & that is what makes this so much fun! “Be flexible” friends!
This is how gardening should be easy like you always say! Everything looks great and beautiful!
I'm loving the no planting mums in the containers! Great idea.
Glad you like them!
Jenny, thanks for being you!
SIMPLE,Me too,I am over all these different plants in a pot ,I think it’s more restful on the eyes. I did it for the last few years and I love it ,💚🍃🌿
Love ❤️ your Fall plantings!! Great ideas Jenny!! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Simple sweetie, ❤love that.😊
Little white or orange pumpkins would look cute on the ends under the kitchen window.
Oh I’m in love with this video! Time to go shopping.😂
I love the soft serve with the mums!
Thanks!

Oh goodness please look to ALL the warnings about using that product because its dangers to humans are well known by now.

@@sEaSoNaLMiLkmy neighbor has it, so now I have it. I pull, chop & spray it every year. It will never be gone, because they don’t.

I always love to watch you doing your planters, regardless of the season. And I totally understand your reasoning on the ivy!
I feel the same way about planting this fall. I love the simple and easy. All the containers look beautiful.
I totally agree with you Fall is a time for a reprieve, keeping it simple. There is beauty in simplicity, like your window boxes, they're gorgeous.❤❤
So true!
Love watching you. I have learned so much. I live in a small town in New York but visit North Carolina often. We lived in NC for 5 years and made dear friends. They are still a couple hours away, but I am going to get over your way one of these visits.

I love using the edibles in my pots and garden and so do my chickens 🐓 😮! I have to be creative because even pansies and violas are edible.

Such beautiful plantings! The mums are really ready to pop! 🎉 😀
Beautiful 💐
Love your attitude Jenny❤
Pretending it’s fall, while the air conditioning is on 😂, Good Morning Jenny ❤
I have one of those yards. Madame Rosie or Trumpet Vine in the front and Ivy in the back.😊

Jenny, move the sun king so you can show off the window box!
Just curious, can you write off your plants you use as a business expense ? 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

It should have been, you get what you pay for 😁🤦🏻♀️
lol I say it backwards too …not the only one!! Haha
👍

Using the containers against the wall, how do u guard against water damage on the hse?

Is there a way to keep aphids from overwintering?
Hi 👋 Jenny
Will these plants work in Sun
Does anyone know what a “good” potting soil is that she recommends? I’ve been using Miracle Grow - is that ok or not?
Proven Winners Premium All Purpose Potting Soil, is what she uses & recommends. I used it this summer in all my containers & it made a huge difference! I ordered from Amazon because my local nursery doesn't carry it!
Where can we get false cypress?
I treat mums as annuals too. I have neighbor that her husband built window boxes and she puts nothing in them. Go figure!!!
Why not silver falls instead of green ivy? Or a white trailing plant?
Silver Falls will die in the winter

Thank you, for taking the time to let me
know the why. Makes sense now.

What makes you the expert and where did you come up with those numbers. Every gardener can do as they please! You do you!
Simple but pretty Ms Jenny. May you and yours have a blessed weekend...staff as well.
Jenny, thx for the good advice. cgzone8
Gorgeous window/ wall baskets, Jenny! Thanks so much for sharing😍
