I saw this elevator in a discount centre, but does not open automatically and not made for wheelchair ones only.

Why do you have to hold the floor button down to keep the elevator moving?

Beacause it is a platform lift and those are very simple where you have to keep it pressed all the way, even though that can be rather hard to do
